Um... so there's no such thing as a perfect game. Diablo 3 has it's pros/cons and so does Torchlight. So stop being little fan boys and get the game(s) that YOU want. Nobody else cares what you think. Personally, I'm getting Torchlight because it's a one time buy. I pay $20 and the game is mine. I'm too poor to afford Diablo 3, but other than that it looks like another good game.
TL2 is aimed at the end of this year for realease. think september to november.
And it will come to xbox360. Just not in its current form(it will be redesigned). The reason why it can't come as it is is not because of "size" its because of ram limitations upon xbla titles :)

I also hope when they said MORE customization, that they meant you can make GIRL railman or outlander characters, because having FINITE men and woman (only one) was kind of a pet peeve for me and a few people that I know that play it too. I trust Runic games to make an awesome games, but they also need to pay a little attention to the little things and take into the account that ALOT of girl players have been popping up over the years. I saw I think the Railman art and there was a girl version.
I love they have 4 brand new classes yes, buuut why can't you play the original 3... if they made new trees or just made the original 3 three a bit different for Torchlight2. Idk I think it would be a HUGE selling point for Torchlight2 to have all the original characters, overhauled, then 4 brand new ones.

@superkerel9 Well noone is forcing you to buy anything, and you dont ever have to meet any1 that bought something for cash in the auction house, they will be matchmade with people who got the same tier gear.

D3 is getting fucked up.. torchlight is my only hope for an actual 3D diablo remake.. i hope the player cap is at least 8, the level cap is at least 99, you can still spend skill points yourself, and that the freedom in player characters is just as good as it was in diablo 2
I loved D1 and D2 but everytime i hear D3 i just grind my teeth so hard... knowing that a different team is working on it from info thats (not all but some is) 10 years old.. i just think TL is going to do a better job (10 years old info) and every1 wants a Diablo MMO and thankyou Runic for making TL MMO the Diablo MMO every1 wished for.
Currently playing Torchlight on the XBLA and I'm really enjoying it. It's my first real venture into this dungeon crawler style game and I can see myself getting into them.
Will definitely buy Torchlight II if it comes to XBLA also. I really want to support the small team at Runic so we can hopefully see more special things from them.
My spouse and I have loved playing Torchlight, and love the modding aspect. Runic is setting a great example as a company that is not only ope to its community, but actively participates as well.
Last but no least I'm glad it will be p2p multi player. That keeps all the pvp'rs on their own relms. Mixing pvp in a game with pve is inevitably a huge pain. You can't keep both happy, you will either favor one or the other (pvp or pve) One will always have to be favored and the other will always fall to the side. Example, WoW Whenever they focused on one end, the other horridly payed for it.
$20.00 is great. Vendors don't understand gamers. Gamers are NOT like the average buyer, such as more expensive is a better product. Games are based on the actual use and game play and get more use than even the family car. 2nd, the best advertising for a game is other gamers and they will ALWAYS talk amongst themselves about the best games etc. Making your faithful fans wait 13 years for an expansion and rewarding them by charging $60.00 is an insult (Blizz).
Honestly, though, once D III comes out, my wife and I will both get it, regardless the price. But it would be really really nice if ActiBlizz dropped the box price down to $40... $60 is more like a CE, but knowing how Blizz is now, if there's a CE it will likely be closer to $80. :\

That´s the biggest bullshit I have ever heard, only a small group that worked on Diablo 2 made Torchlight. You can´t make a game with 3-4 people, the biggest part of the team of Diablo 2 is also making Diablo 3, Torchlight is pale in comparison anyway.
Games are not about quantity but about quality. Look at Diablo 3, World of Warcraft and especially Starcraft II. Each being the best game in it´s entire genre. Runic and Gearbox can only hope to make games so good as they make them at Blizzard.
@N0oDLX D3 isn't out yet, but it's looking terrible (mainly for a diablo game, not necessairly an action rpg in general).. WoW does have a ton of polish (it's blizzard ffs), but it's design to be addiciting, not good. Finally SC2, surprisingly blizzard managed to not fuck up.

On a broad scale, at least 4 me, there's somehow less of a distinction between the 3 franchises. Its all very, colorful now. Not "Medieval-Dark", "Fantasy" or "Shakespeare 40,000".. Which, on a rare exceptionally-stoned occasion, made me 'daydream' about how awesome it'd be if the 3 Worlds somehow collided, per se. Now it feels like, all the characters might recognize each other lOL!!

With spell failures and dynamic weather (TL-2!!), in a world where its not just the odd sounds in a distant room where the horrors lurk. Mankind/Sanctuary-kind itself is well accustomed to its worst nightmares xP!! I could be more specific. But then I'd have already had a job lol! D2's style feels WAY scarier/better still imo.

I don't think it should be a problem though, the color shouldnt matter, as long as the theme is still dark and dingy, know what I mean? (music, NPCs, building condition, etc). But that's just my opnion..

First, D3 (Im lazy) has a bigger history and therefore a higher recognition value.
Second, the style in D3 is alike his predecessor; somehow adult, fine and dramatic graphics and atmosphere, and thats what many fans want.
@hammatymee Max Schaefer even said he still respected many of the Blizzard employees so why would he try to rival them? I personally will get both which is what he want's i'm sure, so I doubt they would want to hurt a game that improves on their old legacy.
He can respect the devs. He can go grab a beer with the devs even and have a nice conversation, while at the same time taking a piss into Bobby Kottick's coffee mug.
I enjoyed Torchlight, I really really did, but it had flaws that if TL2 does not fix I won't get it. Here is my personal list of what I want to see (obviously I chose things not already mentioned).
1) Fix player stats. Having one damage stat and one defense stat is boring.
2) Get rid of all those terribly boring passive skills.
3) Give me a reason to use more than one main attack skill.
4) Make more interesting item stats. Compared to D2 and Titan Quest the items all do boring things. Procs plz!
@DrStrangepants Have you ever played any mods for this game? If you did you would not be complaining about all that stuff! Seriously the beauty in this game was its easy modability. If you so disliked the passive skills you could have changed them yourself.
@Spityourbloodnotmine I had 12 mods installed - although I'm sure even more great mods exist now. The thing is, you cannot rely on the community to fix poor design decisions and I certainly don't want to buy a game I need to fix. Taking passives skills and adding new animation and art wouldn't be that easy anyway. There was no mod at the time (or even now?) that changed the thoughtless stats into something so all stats had some purpose for all classes.
When I first saw Torchlight 1 I was so disappointed by the art style. I felt like it was a terrible direction but after playing the game I fell inlove with it and I even feel like playing Torchlight 2 over Diablo 3!!!! At the end of the day these guys some of the original Diablo creators...sure I would love gothic horror style but their unique art style is actually very awesome!!!
I lost my boner around 12 minutes in when they mentioned PvP being a side-note. I hope the Torchlight MMO has a bit more PvP emphasis; The lack of PvP emphasis is why I really didn't like World of Warcraft :\
@431darko431 i played aion for about a month, got to the rift at 30, and couldnt level because you get ganked every 10 feet you step. I know I would have enjoyed the game more because it was pvp oriented, but I joined the game a year after it came out, and everyone already had the upper edge on me. I heard warhammer was a huge fail, which is what kept me from it.

@shredingdude If you compare to Diablo 2 then yes. However I think of Torchlight I as Diablo 1.5. Its obvious that its buil;t around fun-over-complexity style of Diablo I, while TorchlightII is built around on taking the first game and adding complexity and content to it.
Torchlight II will have 4 totally different classes, more lore, more extensive skill system, better item system, five times as much of content as T1, not to mention actual lore and storyline written by professional writing team

I loved D1 and D2 but everytime i hear D3 i just grind my teeth so hard... knowing that a different team is working on it from info thats (not all but some is) 10 years old.. i just think TL is going to do a better job (10 years old info) and every1 wants a Diablo MMO and thankyou Runic for making TL MMO the Diablo MMO every1 wished for.

Currently playing Torchlight on the XBLA and I'm really enjoying it. It's my first real venture into this dungeon crawler style game and I can see myself getting into them.
Will definitely buy Torchlight II if it comes to XBLA also. I really want to support the small team at Runic so we can hopefully see more special things from them.

Last but no least I'm glad it will be p2p multi player. That keeps all the pvp'rs on their own relms. Mixing pvp in a game with pve is inevitably a huge pain. You can't keep both happy, you will either favor one or the other (pvp or pve) One will always have to be favored and the other will always fall to the side. Example, WoW Whenever they focused on one end, the other horridly payed for it.

$20.00 is great. Vendors don't understand gamers. Gamers are NOT like the average buyer, such as more expensive is a better product. Games are based on the actual use and game play and get more use than even the family car. 2nd, the best advertising for a game is other gamers and they will ALWAYS talk amongst themselves about the best games etc. Making your faithful fans wait 13 years for an expansion and rewarding them by charging $60.00 is an insult (Blizz).

That´s the biggest bullshit I have ever heard, only a small group that worked on Diablo 2 made Torchlight. You can´t make a game with 3-4 people, the biggest part of the team of Diablo 2 is also making Diablo 3, Torchlight is pale in comparison anyway.

@N0oDLX D3 isn't out yet, but it's looking terrible (mainly for a diablo game, not necessairly an action rpg in general).. WoW does have a ton of polish (it's blizzard ffs), but it's design to be addiciting, not good. Finally SC2, surprisingly blizzard managed to not fuck up.

@DaFleegsta What stuck out most for me was that the world of Diablo, has completely changed.. artistically. On a broad scale, at least 4 me, there's somehow less of a distinction between the 3 franchises. Its all very, colorful now. Not "Medieval-Dark", "Fantasy" or "Shakespeare 40,000".. Which, on a rare exceptionally-stoned occasion, made me 'daydream' about how awesome it'd be if the 3 Worlds somehow collided, per se. Now it feels like, all the characters might recognize each other lOL!!

With spell failures and dynamic weather (TL-2!!), in a world where its not just the odd sounds in a distant room where the horrors lurk. Mankind/Sanctuary-kind itself is well accustomed to its worst nightmares xP!! I could be more specific. But then I'd have already had a job lol! D2's style feels WAY scarier/better still imo.

I don't think it should be a problem though, the color shouldnt matter, as long as the theme is still dark and dingy, know what I mean? (music, NPCs, building condition, etc). But that's just my opnion..

@hammatymee Dude seriously. I admit that Blizzard made a mistake kicking out some of their best men, but killing blizzard? Dont get me wrong, I did like Torchlight 1, but you see there are reasons Diablo 3 will overwhelm Torchlight 2 for sure.
First, D3 (Im lazy) has a bigger history and therefore a higher recognition value.
Second, the style in D3 is alike his predecessor; somehow adult, fine and dramatic graphics and atmosphere, and thats what many fans want.

I enjoyed Torchlight, I really really did, but it had flaws that if TL2 does not fix I won't get it. Here is my personal list of what I want to see (obviously I chose things not already mentioned).
1) Fix player stats. Having one damage stat and one defense stat is boring.
2) Get rid of all those terribly boring passive skills.
3) Give me a reason to use more than one main attack skill.
4) Make more interesting item stats. Compared to D2 and Titan Quest the items all do boring things. Procs plz!

The thing is, you cannot rely on the community to fix poor design decisions and I certainly don't want to buy a game I need to fix. Taking passives skills and adding new animation and art wouldn't be that easy anyway. There was no mod at the time (or even now?) that changed the thoughtless stats into something so all stats had some purpose for all classes.

When I first saw Torchlight 1 I was so disappointed by the art style. I felt like it was a terrible direction but after playing the game I fell inlove with it and I even feel like playing Torchlight 2 over Diablo 3!!!! At the end of the day these guys some of the original Diablo creators...sure I would love gothic horror style but their unique art style is actually very awesome!!!

I know I would have enjoyed the game more because it was pvp oriented, but I joined the game a year after it came out, and everyone already had the upper edge on me. Yeah exept that diablo2 is far more complex than torchlight. (more classes, more skills, more items, more gameplay time, more lore, more story)
Actually torchlight is more a lowbudget version of d2 with better graphics and some extra mecanics. But it's still a very good game.

@shredingdude If you compare to Diablo 2 then yes. However I think of Torchlight I as Diablo 1.5. Its obvious that its buil;t around fun-over-complexity style of Diablo I, while TorchlightII is built around on taking the first game and adding complexity and content to it.
Torchlight II will have 4 totally different classes, more lore, more extensive skill system, better item system, five times as much of content as T1, not to mention actual lore and storyline written by professional writing team

Torchlight II is like hyper mega amped up version of Diablo II and is bascally what Diablo III SHOULD have been.
Not surprising because its coming from people who did Fate and from people who did both Diablo I and Diablo II(Runic Games is former Blizzard North).
