Yes, I was raised in believing in her. I've known her for about 12 years and never has she let me down. She's always helped through those strong blocks and I believed in moving them..when I read her books! :)
To a great extent "Interview with a vampire" was a re enactment of the death of her child atn the age of five in Paris. Read the passage in qustion in the novel. It makes hard reading and is part
of the reason why it is such a fantastic book. A quest to find light in the shadows.
Being agnostic I actually like her thoughts on religion and Christianity, i find them very interesting and beautiful. Especially in The Vampire Armand, a lot of people critisized that book because they didn't like alot of the themes being about Jesus, but I really liked it and thought it was wonderful.
I am just dying to read a new Vampire chronicles! Maybe explain what happened to Lestat while he was in his little coma. He explained it had something to do with him working with angels etc etc which he explained in Blackwood Farm.

I think it's beautiful, the message of struggling through the darkness to find light... to find a way to make something beautiful and bright and somewhat pure and special in dark times. Also, the way that her books take something so dark, and really strive to show that there is a necessity for harshness in some ways, in order for light to continue... that sometimes they work in tandem, but that ultimately we make out own decisions. That, I believe, is what I take from her.
wasnt anne rice dedicated no more to vampire books?....anyway,her books rock, she totally changed and gave another point of view to vampire myth,i admire her creativity in that, marking an era,and i wish i could learn from her...
Apparently, being a Christian, Anne Rice does not know that Christianity DOES NOT hold the mind to be eternal. The body and mind are limited to impermanence; only the soul continues on. It is the Buddhists whom believe that the mind is eternal... but then again, they believe that there are only body and mind. Not soul.
Thanks for this Anne. That scripture piece was truly beautiful, that's coming from an athiest. I'm an oddity of sorts - a non believer who loves to study religion. I'm looking forward to reading your Christ the Lord series once I can afford it (damn being so broke)
Love the books, Anne, love the movies, seen the musical, loved all of it, and i still can't get enough of Lestat. He's irresistible and so are your books. Fantastic.
Deeply admire you and your work Anne, and have adored the Chronicles for many years.... but I have to say, after book 3 (Queen), Lestat seems to have lost himself somewhat. It seems to me that the Chronicles have become cheapened a little by forcing Lestat into rather mundane adventures (Body thief & memnoch), not to mention introducing the possibilities that a god exists? Doesn't this existance of a god negate Lestat's arrogance in the original book perhaps? I'm in for it now.....
Keth, couldn't disagree with you more, but that's no surprise, is it? I think Blood Canticle was the finest, deepest, best of the bunch, after Memnoch, that is, which is the jewel of whatever crown I might have created there. But thanks for your input. The early books are....early. A.
Memnoch IS a jewel! For hours I would go on and on about Memnoch to my fiance, reading him passages from the book, to make sure I kept everything straight! As for Canticle: Blackwood Farm was the first I'd ever read and it hooked me. Quinn is an absolute doll, and withing 2 pages of Lestat's intro, I was positively transfixed. Having read them all now, I feel like Canticle brough him full circle: through heaven and hell there is still humanity there, still the capacity for love and goodness.
i love the vampire lestat.hes sooooooooooo hot,i also love his presonality."His eyes wich are forever parimictic and absorve all the light around him, making them seem a gorgus voilt.Truly the james bond of all vampires."I've always love guys with a personality like that.I just wish I could meet him,i'd do anything,ANYTHING that he'd want me to do.
Anne Rice's books are so enthralling, sometimes i have to step back and remind myself its fictional. I've read nearly all of her books twice and everytime i find something new, some deeper connotation. I find myself smiling when i read, and that is thanks to the wonderful mind of Anne Rice.
Thank you from England. x
Please tell me your favourtie character and why. :)

If you go to my personal website (just put in my name) you'll find a link to the website of the guys down in New Orleans who do the ball. I'm sure they're already at work. The balls retain their unique magic. I'm miles away on the other side of the country but I miss New Orleans and I miss the balls. Anne Rice.
Thank you very much. The thing is, I live in Arizona, and the convention is all the way in Louisiana! T_T Plus, I doubt my parents would allow me to go- my mother has a deep phobia of vampires ever since she saw the movie Dracula. I tried to explain how off the movie was, and that there's a whole nother side to vampires, but she doesn't seem to want to listen. Help?
I suppose it's the whole blood drinking thing. She thinks they're demonic. I can understand that, but she is still dwelling on that many kill their victims, and can't seem to see that there's more to vampires than just killing and drinking blood. What am I to do? D:
My Parents would never let me go. My mother and father does not have a phobia but they simply hate me "reading books that could change my mind into fantasizing about something thats not real" as they put it. But, Oh, how I wish I could go.
Many of you might know what I'm saying here, and others might not. I know I might sound crazy, but I just don't want to believe her characters are fictional, you know? I love her books, and there is a burning, longing desire inside me to speak with one of these magnificent beings, specifically Lestat or Louis. If you want to carry on a serious conversation with me about this, message this account.
I wholeheartedly agree. I actually refuse to believe that they are fictional characters. Anne Rice makes them seem so real, unlike other authors with their book characters. She makes it to where I can actually see myself talking to one of them. As I see it, if I do not wish to believe them at non- fiction, then I won't.
God bless you Anne. And it´s so true that in the night time of my soul, when the darkness seems endless I´ll remember you and your Vampires, and I´ll look for the stars and the moon. Thank you so much.

Have to say I was so disapointed in the movie.
Amazing...I met her at 2000 and it astonishes me looking at her now as to how much she changed. She really lost all that weight...she is much thinner than my mom.
I think that Anne Rice is a very good writer and I lover Interview with the vampire and The vampire Lestat. But then I read Queen of the damned, The tale of the body thief and Memnoch the devil, and they all were good, but in my opinion they had not the same magic as the first two books. So it was kind of a disappointment, but I'm going to read Armand the vampire soon, cause he's my favourite, and hope that it will be the same as the first two books.

Esta mujer, es mi escritora favirita su pluma es totalmente un portal donde uno se desangra poco a poco en sus escritos, ella tiene una imaginacion explendida, y le dio un toque mayor al mundo de los vampiros lo oculto lo hace realmente bello.
I've been a fan for many years, met lots of great people through my interest and visited New Orleans because of the books, and met her at a book signing where she signed Exit to eden and tale of the body thief for me. Just wish she hadn't turned her back on the horror books she's written now that she's returned to the catholic church.
That's why she isn't writing any more horror books. I think she's still re-writing the New Testament at the moment, second volume due soon. I won't be bothering, its the Vamp chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair witches that interest me. I have read Cry to heaven, which is not supernatural, but still a great read-you read it?
not long ago, i was searching for things about anne rice's books and ran across an article about a boy who apparently murdered his best friend, drank his blood and ate part of his head. he blamed the movie Queen of the Damned for making him do this. many religious fanatics blame anne rice for this. they say she is Satanic and evil. bullshit. i'd like for those people who have blamed her to see this video!
i love her first two books, and pandora too...But lets face it, since Queen of the damned she's been writing poorly,"Queen.."and "the body thief" are acceptable, but the ending of "Memnoch..." is terrible!
i am a strict athiest, but i have accepted the world of religion in her books, as they are ficticious books. this being so, i see the religion a part of the fiction, thus, part of the magic.
she was great, until she became religious, then she was good, but i still read all of her books, and am nearing the end of vittorio the vampire, and will them read blackwood farm, and blood cantile, i wish i could have a conversation with her about history, philosophy, theology, religion, anything along those lines.
i sent her emails, i sent her them explaining my views, and asking for hers. i expect she get thousands of them, and just has some employes who write back saying " Thank you for emailing, i appriciate it". maybe she reads a few, but i feel she will never read mine. Anne, if you go on youtube, and search your name and read this, emal me DanielMcnay at aol dot com, it was not the name i emailed u on, but i thought i should tell you.
at first i was angry at miss rice for her new direction, but upon watching this video it has come home to me that she-like all of us is just trying to find herself--i cant hate or be mad at her for that and i dont think anyone should
Meh the Vampire Chronicles were a right of passage series for Goths and metallers for about a decade. The subculture has changed and they have no place in a market they defined for a long time. better that they end now then try and conform to the new subculture
Anne Rice is absolutely fantastic, and she writes the best vampire books in history. She dissapointed me though, when she started writing about Jesus. Her vampire chronicles are a much better subject!
I was really confused by her change and sad that she said she wouldn't write any more vampire chronicles books. But she seems to have found something She believes in strongly, so I happy for her in that sense.
Hmm, I think I forgive her...I felt rather betrayed that she, the queen of the damned, would seek entry to heaven after all these years, but I guess she's still pretty cool. Hmm...
presumptious bitch. 'as you know and as i know ...blah blah... the mind is eternal'. no sweetie, we're not all born-again pseudo-christians. even if you very cleverly call it 'the mind' instead of going all-out and just saying 'soul'.
i agree totally... i think it's because since she's getting older now she's decided to find religion... it's kinda sad... she has abandoned lestat he's no longer and no more and you could tell in her last books... it's ok maybe when she passes someone will revive him again kinda like they did when the real vc andrews died...
I can't believe you came here to say that! If you take a good look at the source of all the work you claim to admire you will find at the very heart of it is this gentle human being that searches for a satisfying understanding of its very existence. But because you have not arrived at the same conclusion for your existence you have taken it upon yourselves to visit her channel and leave these heartless and disrespectful comments!
Mi Señora... no puedo evitar amarla...me uno a sus deseos de belleza e inmortalidad, a su alma sin genero y a la de muchos otros que adoran las Cronicas Vampiricas....
My beloved lady, I just can´t help it...I Love Her...I join to her quest for Beauty and Immortality, to her genderless soul...I join to all of those out there seeking for eternal beauty...and to those who share our love for the Vampire Chronicles...
She's one of my favorite authors. I love Anne Rice novels. Thanks for posting this video it was great. Boy Anne is getting thinner. She looks better heavier. =)~

Just wish she hadn't turned her back on the horror books she's written now that she's returned to the catholic church.
oberon1970 4 years ago
Is that why she's not writing more vampire books?
Memnoch the Devil was actually the book that brought me back around to the church.
chainsmokinchick 4 years ago
That's why she isn't writing any more horror books. I think she's still re-writing the New Testament at the moment, second volume due soon. I won't be bothering, its the Vamp chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair witches that interest me. I have read Cry to heaven, which is not supernatural, but still a great read-you read it?

not long ago, i was searching for things about anne rice's books and ran across an article about a boy who apparently murdered his best friend, drank his blood and ate part of his head. he blamed the movie Queen of the Damned for making him do this. many religious fanatics blame anne rice for this. they say she is Satanic and evil. bullshit. i'd like for those people who have blamed her to see this video!

theeskimofriend 4 years ago
i love her first two books, and pandora too...But lets face it, since Queen of the damned she's been writing poorly,"Queen.."and "the body thief" are acceptable, but the ending of "Memnoch..." is terrible!
BlasphemousPuppet 4 years ago
Why is it terrible? I suppose you mean this as a bad thing, because I think it was terrible too, but it was just because Armand became a suicidal..

i am a strict athiest, but i have accepted the world of religion in her books, as they are ficticious books. this being so, i see the religion a part of the fiction, thus, part of the magic.
18121814 4 years ago 2
she was great, until she became religious, then she was good, but i still read all of her books, and am nearing the end of vittorio the vampire, and will them read blackwood farm, and blood cantile, i wish i could have a conversation with her about history, philosophy, theology, religion, anything along those lines.
18121814 4 years ago
i sent her emails, i sent her them explaining my views, and asking for hers. i expect she get thousands of them, and just has some employes who write back saying " Thank you for emailing, i appriciate it". maybe she reads a few, but i feel she will never read mine. Anne, if you go on youtube, and search your name and read this, emal me DanielMcnay at aol dot com, it was not the name i emailed u on, but i thought i should tell you.

I prefer the works under her pen names A.N. Roquelaure and Anne Rampling. Much better than the vampy/witch books.

at first i was angry at miss rice for her new direction, but upon watching this video it has come home to me that she-like all of us is just trying to find herself--i cant hate or be mad at her for that and i dont think anyone should
good luck on your journey anne

Meh the Vampire Chronicles were a right of passage series for Goths and metallers for about a decade. The subculture has changed and they have no place in a market they defined for a long time. better that they end now then try and conform to the new subculture

of course. Every writer does through their written word.

'as you know and as i know ...blah blah... the mind is eternal'. no sweetie, we're not all born-again pseudo-christians. even if you very cleverly call it 'the mind' instead of going all-out and just saying 'soul'.
vonreich 5 years ago
i agree totally... i think it's because since she's getting older now she's decided to find religion... it's kinda sad... she has abandoned lestat he's no longer and no more and you could tell in her last books... it's ok maybe when she passes someone will revive him again kinda like they did when the real vc andrews died...
seraphinaloire 5 years ago
I can't believe you came here to say that! If you take a good look at the source of all the work you claim to admire you will find at the very heart of it is this gentle human being that searches for a satisfying understanding of its very existence. But because you have not arrived at the same conclusion for your existence you have taken it upon yourselves to visit her channel and leave these heartless and disrespectful comments!
StaticBreeze 4 years ago
I really like her books. I grew up reading all the vampire chronicles and cant find many other authors who write as amazing as her.
