Ugh no offence but if you can't slap it don't. get it down with regular fingering style. If you can't get the slap in time and clean it up before the concert don't play with slap. i tackled this tune myself and i know it's not easy. But its the same basic rhythm throughout so... yeah funk isn't something easy. Also don't over power the soloist

My jazz band played this in high school. (class of '97) I played the bari and got the solo the second (last for us) time through. I tore it up! I actually won an outstanding soloist award at the Lakeland Jazzfest near Cleveland. It was my favorite song! Man now i wanna play it again! Great memories!

the tempo isnt consistent, bass guitar loves to show off and not do really good, and the drums, you fill in way too much, take it easy.

I played the lead trumpet in our jazz/big band for festival!!! Scary since i was filling in and usually trumpet 3. Fun part to play though.

It def. needs some more bone emphasisis on the backgrounds but it sounds pretty good. :)

hm... well it didn't take too long, i mean after the first two measures it just repeats the whole time pretty much.
god, i haven't listened to this in so long... it sounds terrible now lol, i thought i was the shit back then.
