  • @hypergeek5 did you use ball bearings between the bolts and the inner pvs circles?

  • Mate, you have to start selling these things - there are many ppl out there looking for cheap steadicam :)

  • @shingobg I agree.

  • por favor os tamanhos dos pvc please tam pvc tanks

  • I'm just starting to research this steadicam thing, so please bear with my stupid question: what's the reason for the bearing? If you're holding the handle that would be mounted to the bearing, and you turn quickly (which, admittedly, wouldn't be advisable), wouldn't the bearing allow the camera to continue facing in the direction that you just turned away from? In other words, don't you want the camera to stay facing the direction that your camera-aiming hand is facing?

  • @aivilik i actually wondered the same thing when i built it, but basically if you want to move the camera you have to turn it yourself because the whole purpose of the gimbal is to completely eliminate any motion from the camera man.

  • nice job

  • why do americans always build stuff from plastic and wood? i always use steel and aluminum.

  • @ssuuppeerrbbooyy Cause it works just as well and its cheaper.

  • @CreatePixel you would put a $5k camera on a piece of plastic and run around with it?

  • @ssuuppeerrbbooyy If u have a $5k camera u should not be making your own DIY shit, you should have enough money to buy a real steadicam.

  • @CreatePixel Having a $5k camera somehow means you have a lot of money? That is barely even prosumer level. And having money to buy stuff doesnt mean you need to buy it, if you know how to build it yourself.

  • @ssuuppeerrbbooyy What kind of camera do you have?

  • @CreatePixel Currently i only have a consumer camcorder from sony (for about $1k) in my private possesion. Im in the process of getting one, but will wait until the next wave of releases, which should be soon. At work we just got a RED Epic (we used RED One before), and for projects outside the company we usually use Canon 5Dm2, or a semipro camcorder.

  • @ssuuppeerrbbooyy Cannon came out with one today.

  • @CreatePixel Why would you spend more money on things you can make? It's obvious you can't build or make a 5k camera in your home oppose to making simple stabilizers. Think about how much you save and with the money saved you can actually buy some lenses or other things you can't build. Film making is about getting creative and building something out of nothing.

  • @2315MARCO You are arguing with me when im agreeing with you by using cheap materials.

  • @ssuuppeerrbbooyy this was made for a $150 camera, i wouldn't recommend this design for anything other than a weekend project that gives you something cool to play with

  • @ssuuppeerrbbooyy because i don't have a machine shop in my basement and i'm cheap

  • Can you talk more about the screws, how did you manage to screw the PVC together? What type of screws did you use (1/4,3/4. ect.) I am also assuming that you cut the ends of the screws as well. Right?

  • @stillife215 i simply cut the end off of some 1/4" bolts and then drilled holes that were slightly smaller and manually threaded them in without taps or anything

  • if this apply to the nozzle of lunar lander ( project M genie NASA) , you do not need computer to activate 4 actuators... am I right

  • Thank you...I went to home depot today and asked everyone in there if they had gimbals...needless to say, I did little research before going, and got a ton of strange looks. Thanks again.

  • Nice! Simple, logical, and functional. Geometry and physics are your friends :)

  • goodd work man

  • i wanna know how do you punch holes in the smallest ring(the one with the bearing), i mean how big are they, bigger than the screw? or an exact fit, because i can;t see how that ring rotatesc around those two screws. or am i beeing stupid? :))

  • @floreacalincom sorry it took too long to respond, i just haven't checked comments in forever cause usually i don't get any, lol. but to answer your question, the holes in the inner ring are slightly larger than the piece of bolt that is connecting it to the second ring. to connect the inner ring, you take a bolt, cut off a piece about 3/4" long and use pliers to screw it into the second ring from the outside, going in, where you then attach it to the inner ring.

  • @hypergeek5 thanks i allready did it, it works great. thanks a lot
