No the highest than ever rates were in the 70's you are right on that, though again the cost is through the roof houses are at the all time high, so that 5% rate doesn't mean anything if you are paying $3000.00 a month to keep the house vs the 70's which was the highest, mortgage payment maxed out on 1000.00 for a fucking near mansion. It is a big deal 700.oo mnthly to even 2000.00
Then on to the Dow, since it inception the SEC secured rules and regulations deals were made, and although retail sales are continued, the Institutional sales after the 1980's fall of the market were climbing and continued to do so moderately, any zoom up in the market will bring it down considerably causing a reaction when the 1st crash-Carnegie and cronies made out like bandits/then SEC, do we get into NASD?

The recorded highs also recorded lows, this has always been an incident, since the beginning of the last century, and is still a factor into all major financial institutions.
