@ChessNetwork Ur endgame explanation is wrong, the reason Carsen resigned was if Knight to c6 then bishop to c3 then rook takes rook and black's queen cannot recapture due to the presence of knight on c6, but it has to otherwise check mate so black ends up loosing a queen and then its just game over
And if black decide to move its rook after the knight move then knight takes bishop and there no way of stopping checkmate on the last row
At 6:25 why not knight g6 threatening mate in one and then, after black plays pawn g6 (forced), just take the black bishop on b7?! What am I not seeing here?!
Hallo Magnus , not only your letter to FIDE in November 2010 shows that you are not any longer the best chessplayer , since November 2010 Viswanthan is also again the chessplayer with the highest rating. Try to beat my worldrecord with mate in 550 here on youtube if you can ... kindly regards from Karlsruhe , Germany
this is simply amazing. i'm a 2100 player and find this very instructive. =) i know by heart that catalan is the best d4 opening, then queen's gambit. good choice to go over catalan.
0:33 g3 isn't a Catalan yet right? Not until White plays d4
11. ... Nb4 had to be a mistake. A relatively subtle one, yet with grave consequences. I think Kramnik saw this idea of planting the knight on c6 and exchanging all the other minor pieces. He was also convinced he could do it - the position makes it difficult for White to prevent ...c5 so except for this Nc6 idea, is more logical for him to try to hold the two bishops. All it took was a brilliant use of tactics to positional ends.
Great videos Jerry, my thanks. I notice that you (obviously) have great knowledge on openings and theories related to them. Did you learn this while playing games alot, buying books, joining a chess club, all of the above? I would like to know :)
Thanks again for very interesting commentaries and videos!
Great video! I like your explanations at the beginning regarding the backward pawn and the variations surrounding its liberation and demise. I will have to make a note of these concepts for future games. Cheers!
first of all i watched nearly every video of you and its always very entertaining and interesting, i really appreciate your work and effort you put in your videos, keep going!
What program do you use to review the chess games. Are the arrows and circles from the program is simply computer generated. Do you know any free program that does the arrow stuff [:
Was hoping to make some chess videos for my friends who... well I'll put under 300 - 500 rating.
mmm 302 views but only 75 thumbs up? come on people! ChessNetwork is doing your homework! :))) or maybe the 75 thumbs up is the same people? :P maybe... thanks for the analysis Jerry :) mmm a little note, maybe if u can turn up a little bit the volume when recording the vids :P i used to have no problem listening to your analyzis on the first vids, but on the last ones even with all my volume up on my computer im having a little hard time to listen better :P just a note :P thanks again :)
Big thumbs up, Jerry! This is an amazing favour you're doing to us -- especially total butchers who just can't help ruining even a fairly decent position. We are in such need of learning. Hopefully, one day things will click into place :) Thanks so much again!
Thank you for your videos. I used to play alot in my younger years around 20 years ago and your videos have reignited my passion for chess. If only these videos were available then, I would certainly have been a better player... :)
I love your videos Jerry. Sometimes I gotta remind you that you're doing a great, great job with this channel. I've learnt so much, and found chess so much more entertaining since I've subscribed, partly because of you. Thanks.
awesome video jerry...just a question...carlsen beat kramnik in their first game this year in london classic....but he lost the next 2 to kramnik in amber and corus. Everyone's talking about carlsen being the next world champion...what do you think are kramnik's chances of beating carlsen in the next world championship candidates tournament, considering kramnik being a positional player just like carlsen...keep up the wonderful job...cheers
good stuff, ur analysis are awesome.. lol it's like yeah i woulda done this if i were them but oh well let's see how it pans out =).. next thing you know... yeah i saw this coming but since this is their position this is what they can do now.. but oh they did this instead.. let's see how this pans out... as i suspected they lose
That was quick :p I will load it into rybka and with the help of your analysis create an annotated game. The fun thing is that I wanted to comment something along the lines, that "your analysis looks like coming from someone 1800+ Elo" but I have searched google and find out you are an NM :D
@ChessNetwork can you please upload some more games where carlsen was beaten ! i want to see those games coz there I hope to get some chinks in his game!!!
Some moves aren't considered in the analysis.

4:38, why didn't black continue with Nbd7? If white plays Ba5, black can play Nb6 and the poistion is equal.

@TomDavid88
You mean Knight to g5, but it is not threatening mate in one. The h7 square that you are seeing as a weakness is defended by the black knight at f6.
