The answer to your question is no. It is not common for actors to audition for a game show, unless they are in desperate need for money.

Some actors do it, so they can add something to their portfolio. Some do it because they are broke, and they need the big jackpot, winning on a game show can provide.

You won't see mainstream actors auditioning for game shows. Actors that are trying to make it will however.
