I bought one of these a couple months ago and I love the sound. The only thing I'm fighting is that it seems to be very head stock heavy. Does yours feel that way? Got any advice on how to get comfortable with that? It just seems like half the guitars weight is sitting in my left hand and that's really hard to get used to.
just because the headstock doesnt say gibson doesnt mean its not a good guitar.... I have a 68 gibson les paul custom and a epiphone standard and the epiphone is very good.....
@grzegorz206 yeaa man its sweet haha very bluesy but thats a give in. Im happy cuz its in wine red with everything nickel. Instead of being gold its all stock i love it! Like u said nothing is like it but the epis are good!
No, the Gibson has better wiring, slightly better wood and way better hardware and pickups. You'd be repairing the Epiphone constantly, plus it sounds worse.
I have 2 Epiphones, a Les Paul and a Flying V with active pickups, and I think they're good guitars. By the way, I also had an Epiphone Explorer Gothic and was horrible :( . I think I was lucky
Yes! It's such a great guitar! I went into the store planning on buying a Gibson SG and I came out with this instead cause it felt almost the same for $1600 less. : )
Hi there, my son wants a vintage g400 in the "worn cherry" finish, a couple of questions if you don't mind? Does it stay in tune okay and is the nose heavy rep of these guitars as bad as they say? He picked one up in a store and tried it, I was quite surprised at how light it is,
Yes, all the G-400's are great. As far as I know the vintage is no different from the regular G-400. Yes, it is extremely nose heavy, just get a wide strap and strap locks
If you are talking about the vintage 1966 there are several differences in hardware. The 1966 has Grover tuners, and therefore stays in tune better. It also has Alnico classics, which means the maximum output will be slightly lower since it uses less powerful magnets.
In a minor addition, the '66 features a full pickguard, as opposed to the half pickguard seen here.
Overall it's a slight tradeoff, but a worthwhile one for the '66. You can always upgrade your pickups, to get the gibson sound.
the űdot has the G400 neck pickups in both positions. when I replaced the pickups of the G400, the bridge label was LP Bridge, and the neck was LP Neck/DOT Bridge and Neck.
BTW, to reply to another comment:
I prefer the G400 to the Vintage VS6. Both need pickup change IMO, but the G400 has better hardware, and is made of 3 pieces of wood instead of 4 like the Vintage. But the Vintage is nice too.
Just because a guitar got the same pick up's doesn't mean to say it going to sound the same, I've got a ESP KH202 with EMG 81's and a ESP KH603 with EMG's 81's and they sound differently, its because of the shape of the guitar and the wood used,
@dcooper830 The pickups used in alot of Epi models are the same Alnico V humbuckers. The Les Paul uses them as well as the SG and the Dot. The only reason they'll sound different is the wood used, the thickness of the wood, etc (:
lol it cost almost double as much here in Denmark. that sucks... i also heard that Fenders are cheap in the US... in Denmark we pay approx 2000$ for an american strat.
i have the sg 310 and honestly the only reason i got it other then the 400 is because the 400 just seemed to have such a long neck and just didnt feel as good as the 310
The Epiphone g400 SG, for anyone who wants to know, is a very kickass guitar. Mahogany boday and neck with rosewood fingerboard. Pretty kickass!! Even the stock pick-ups are very good.
Thanks so much! I just watched your Epi 56 Goldtop video where you run through a bunch of AC/DC, Van Halen, Nugent and Pink Floyd. GREAT playing and tone!
hey dave awesome playing as usual way to showcase the guitar in all 3 positions have you ever played the tony iommi epiphone sg and if you have, how do you think they compare to other epiphone sg let's say the
There head stock heavy because of the Grovers some Gibson models have The same problem.

Gibson is more than a brand name. You won't get the Classic Vintage Rock tone from an Epiphone without putting Gibson pickups in it.

they're like 700 bux now i say thts a good deal
