  • What kind of mirror pieces are they? Just little squares?

  • Love this song

  • Why the Talking Heads??? WHY GOD WHY?!?!?!?!

  • Why call the video 'death ray', why not 'life' ray as that is what it is. Nevermind.

  • @mrduffy1100

I would think "death ray" would get 1000 X the views...

  • @fireofenergy Agreed, lol

  • gay

  • @n00bhunter2012

How can solar dishes, the worlds ONLY solution be gay. Search here "oil storm" and scroll down to where the barrel is devouring Dallas... Too bad people like you are dis'n the only way out of the coming global economic collapse...

  • those guys are ledgends xD

  • we should really use that for cooking lol

  • it is true

  • People, Mythbusters limited their designs to materials that were available to the ancient Greeks. The ancient Greeks didn't have proper mirrors, the best they had was polished metal, which isn't nearly as good at reflecting light.

  • @cpdonald We really don't know for sure or not rather the Greeks had discovered melted sand coated with silver nitrate or not. We didn't just discover science and technology 100 years ago, man was just as intelligent then as he is now.

  • @Fentanyl3 the problem whit that vision is that we havnt found anything orbiting in space so peole couldn't go to space back than. there are no electric cables found nor a generator. they might have been able to fly in america whit parashutes. but you can be sure that electricity isn't from the time of the greeks. they where able to make glass. the midages was just a time of repression and almost no technologic advancements .

  • 很给力 啊~~~~~

  • wouldint it be easier just to highly polish the actual dish...

  • Takes hours on mythbusters. Really? I just saw a mythbusters video on youtube that burnt wood in 9 seconds.

  • I always knew this was possible. I lost faith in Mythbusters when they failed at making it. Mainly because they left out the whole 'science' element that goes into creating such a thing.

  • How Do You Make This Thanks

  • Support Clean Energy! Search and Watch "The Clean Energy Anthem"

  • no more cold soup on those camping trips...

  • @EllisEndye you still watch mythbusters those dicks are NWO

  • That's one fit Parabolic Mirror

  • For food hot : pleasur Wainting 5 hour !

  • crap, i just got rid of 3 satellite dishes.

i wonder if applying a perfect coating of reynolds wrap would work even better than the mirrors?

  • ok dude,... im sorry to tell you this but global warming isnt real... yeah. ok.

  • I will say... an alternative use of a satellite dish!! haha, very good, what did you use for the reflective tiles please??? it's great!!

  • NOTICE This video contains an audio track that has not been authorized by WMG. The audio has been disabled. More about copyright (as shown by youtube but probably never acculy noticed to the person who uploaded... good job fail-tube

  • Nice work... Works good. You can heat water, for steam engine, or a Stirling would be even better.

You might try using reflective mylar or something similar and glue it to the dish. might give more output with a nearly perfectly smooth surface.

  • It's hard to make a square mirror fit a concave surface, I see your first band of mirrors are smaller, mind of I ask what you did to make the larger mirrors fill in to tightly, please? How did you prepare the fiberglass surface, and what kind of glue you used, please?

    Thank you.

  • whle agw has proven to be a non issue, i sure do like your invention.

  • Now that's a hot dog

  • shinyyyyyyyy... kudos to whoever had the design for this... its just beautiful

  • I must touch it.

  • thats already being used in africa

  • ever try a solar panel on this thing maybe with something to help cool it and test for power gain with all the concentrated light

  • I wonder wut happens if u lay on it?

  • instant skin cancer lol

  • you can get more power out of it by doing a few modifications

  • the WMG assholes disabled the fucking audio

  • This is awesome!!! I was thinking of getting a parabolic mirror to reflect the sun into my dingy dark bedroom as it can't get the morning sunrise, but seeing it's gonna concentrate the rays n burn shit, I'll have to opt for a standard large mirror

  • Remember it will only burn stuff at the focal point. Any closer or further away and it will not burn things. You still have a good and practical idea.

  • They've used this idea to make a solar steam turbine power plant.

  • Isn't that in Spain where they focus mirrors onto a tower that has a blok of salt at the top of which they use to then turn water into steam off. I'm just going from memory here I could be wrong.

  • @Jabjabs Why a block of salt.?

  • Cook sausages 'even' and 'automatically'

    using a 'Sterling Engine'

they can turn things using heat

  • Not only can it cook a sausage and boil some water,if anyone messes with you, just death ray their ass.

  • And burn a big black spot on it lol

  • Nice! too bad WMG assholes had to take the audio off. That would go well with a stirling engine in front of it.

  • What type of material is used on the dish, ie the little squares

  • COOL...I WANT ONE FOR MY CAR FOR OTHER DRIVERS THAT MIFF ME OFF..melt their paint off.

  • You really shouldn't be holding that with your hand. Even if your not burning it the suns rays are much more concentrated in that area, and im sure it isnt healthy for your skin and could give you skin cancer.(a higher chance)

  • They're only concentrated at the point where stuff's burning.

  • Damn... i thought something was going to die. false advertisment.

  • caution; warranty void in the UK summertime.

  • @JimmyJillikers hahahahaha

  • Please use it to heat your waterheater, think of all the money you'd saved!

  • wow, free gas cookig, now i know thas less cancerigene

  • if the object you try to heat is black then it will absorb more energy, and so for example you will have more difficulty buring anything that is white or clear. Good job though!

  • Nice job guys. Watch the eyes. Amazing the free energy that's out there. Now just find something to follow the sun to capture the energy all day long.

  • on a sunny day you get 1000Watt per square meter.. like a coffe cooking mashine..

  • isent it suposed to be in the center of the dish to burn looks more to be at the bottom

  • Its a converted "offset" satellite dish. Offset dish reflectors have their focal point off to the side, ( have you noticed disgital satellite feedhorn position ?) same concept. benefits of offset is that LNB or in this case food, does not block sunlight.

  • Was that a 30" dish? Looked like it might have been larger then my 18". I'd really like to find some heat pipes that would work for the focal point. Solder them into a copper block at the focal point, or something with a good surface area for capturing the energy.

  • cool

  • yay Archimedes!! :)

  • why dont you burn some enemis theare:>

  • you guys rule!

  • Micheal's is where John got the mirrors for the project, I think he bought them out that day!

  • where did you get the mirrors for you project

  • nice!

  • good choice of music

  • each gram of water is heated up by one calorie of energy. Measure the amount of water and the starting temp. Juxtapose it to the amount of time it takes to get it to 100 celcius and you can find the power out put.

  • Nice grassroots experiment with a parabolic solar oven to demonstrate the basic concept of solar energy intensification.

As a note could anyone calculate how much energy it takes to boil an 8 ounce can if water like that? If you divide that by the time, you can calculate the exact power of that rather small device.

  • nice work, I gotta make a thing like that too.

  • well done guys - I am very proud of ya!

  • sweet! parabolic sun oven ?

  • You should have been on mythbusters when they did that one.

  • Sweet Dude! I love it.

  • woot!

But can you use it to make your coffee?

    Now that would be impressive!

My Neighbor has the old-school huge dish in his yard... wonder how quickly that could work.. bet you could heat a barrel in a few minutes with a bit of tweaking on a larger scale.

  • Hi! You mentioned that "My Neighbor has the old-school huge dish in his yard... wonder how quickly that could work.. bet you could heat a barrel in a few minutes with a bit of tweaking on a larger scale." in a bit entitled "Death Ray" where a 30-inch-or-larger parabolic mirror was being used to boil water, heat food, etc. Since I'm on the lookout for possible solar focusing, would you let me know what you mean - that your neighbor has, that maybe would do well in that kind of application. Thanks!
