I got to go on a tiger cruise on this ship back in 1989. I slept where the crew slept. Ate where the crew ate. And got to be at the Helm. We left Pearl Harbour and arrived in Long Beach 7 days later. They even fired off a few rounds from the 5 inchers and the sea whiz.
Hate to be a critic, but CG division is FCs and GMs. Without the FCs manning the Mk 86, the GMs wouldn't be able to put the rounds on target. We used to say the GMs were responsible to get the rounds out of the barrel, the FC had to make sure the bullets landed where they're supposed to.
@TedinLasVegas Understood. Although it's a fact I was well aware of after the almost five years I spent on board, little hiccups do occur when one person writes, narrates and edits the entire script. To all the FC's I left out of CG Division, I sincerely apologize...
