This is one of the coolest projector DIY style things I've seen. I've been wanting microsoft to make surface computers for ages now, and making them affordable, so I can play boardgames, but nah, that's never gonna happen it seems. If you make the table taller, you can actually place the projector under the table to avoid shadows. Check out some diy multi touch table stuff on youtube. You lose a bit of the image quality though.
well, if we are thinking "all - out kick ass" try building a table with a glass top, and put the projector underneath the table, this would allow for more ambient light, and not affect the image when players (or DM) move their guys.

Very impressive. Are you planning on adding some dynamic line of sign and fog of war features to your UDK application? I'm thinking about putting something like this together myself but just using Map Tools to start out with.
This is just AMAZING!!! i'm drawing out maps and printing and sticking,... this blows that right out of the water
