Popcorn is a very beautiful dog!

My last dog (also a Berner) was able to do this too, but she wasn't as patient as Popcorn, haha. She'd be sniffing at the treat and sometimes would eat it before we gave her the ok!

I don't remember how I taught Popcorn this trick but I think I started with holding my hand over the treat and slowly taking my hand away.

I LOVE Popcorn! One thing I notice is he is so furry and round. Do most Bernese look like this? It seems some are more thin in the face. I LOVE how Popcorn looks.

That must have taken a lot of time to train him to do that. I'm afraid my Bernese Mountain Dog/Siberian Huskie would not have the patience for that. Right now I am trying to train him to do tricks while seeing the treat in my hand and that is proving hard to do. I know Bear, my dog, is smart enough for it, though. He's just so impatient. It may take a while, but he'll learn, I know. Maybe someday, he will be as well trained as your Popcorn!
