  • A great cover version by one of the few country singers I like. I saw him sing "Kiss An Angel Good Morning" during one of the recording sessions for the "Country Family Reunion" series of videos at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville in the summer of 2001. I wrote to him afterward and he sent me an autographed picture which is hanging on my "Wall of Fame" at home.

  • Two thumbs way up !

  • great mississippi voice shining there, he came from poor ms. town, and rose to one of the best, i love charlie.

  • I never knew until just know that Charley sang this song. Nice version. Although I'm still partial to Johnny Rivers' version with the great harmonica, but this is much better than the original by Harold Dorman.

  • One of the best songs ever recorded by one of the best entertainers of all times right up there with names like red sovine conway twitty hank williams & so on

  • good times heathly times

  • good times heathy times

  • I love this song---I can't imagine who the 10 dislikes are--maybe their mouse had spasms!

That actually happened to me once, I had a ''senior moment" and clicked the dislike by

    mistake---thanx for the post

  • I love this so much I could just cry. <333

  • im a biracial woman who was raised on the old Country, like Charlie,Conway,Merle, etc and this music never gets old to me,just sweeter, along with Blues

  • Best cover ever

  • This is just a good song, and Charley does right by it. Johnny Rivers had a hit with it because it is a good song. Harold Dorman wrote it and hit with it first in 1960.

  • me and my buddies listen to him all the time in vietnam like him yet today

  • NO ONE GAVE THIS MAN ANYTHING HE EARN IT ALL THE HARD WAY . LOVE HIS MUSIC A.ND .VOICE .

  • i's not exactly fair to compare taylor swift to charlie pride. he's much the superior musician.

  • My only complaint is that this has been rerecorded, like many of the artists have done. And, my opinion is the original is much better. Unfortunately, the original is not on you tube, it appears.

  • @bpotter53029 .. to bpotter53029 - It is the same exact voice track, - just they dubbed in and added some more instruments to it. I have both tracks & I'm not that paticular, they both sound great to me.

  • omg i fuckin love this

  • @KjWa13

  • content.....

  • Great! the poor people 8 of them. (deaf) roll on charley

  • 8 lonely people are standing on top of the mountain of love

  • WoW!!!! has it realy been a year since I last listened to this?!?!?!?!

Great music that I was raised on......RIP Mom and DAD.

Thank you for raising me to be the man I am today. My kids thank you as well........I miss you both so much!!!!!

  • A Country Music Legend; An American Treasure. One of my all time favorites......

  • I'm going to see him in concert tomorrow!!! So excited!:)

  • charlie can sing circles around johnny rivers. no offense to johnny i imagine he would agree.

charlie pride is george washington on the mount rushmore of country music

  • this is the tunes i grew up on . love love love it

  • this is such a great tune i love the oldies!

  • this is a cool version, I really dig Pride's vocal inflection (country twang) on this song. Makes it really unique from the Johnny Rivers version, which is also good

  • Who gives a shit about color; this guy is a bad-ass, old school country singer. I wish he was still making music... thanks for posting this.

  • one of my favorite songs. i met him at my uncles ranch many moons ago. my uncle owned a huge night club in oklahoma and i raised quarter horses when i got older for some country stars. godbless from toms quarter horse ranch.

  • My first and only request ever to a radio station in Montana in the early eighties!

  • Google "Singer Charley Pride refunds fan in person for online ticket purchase" . you will see how classy this guy is!

  • still my favorite!!!!!

  • ryammugs2204, I too grew up on this stuff and AI love it....Great dancin' tunes!

  • Charlie Pride has set a high standard of excellence in all his string of hit songs, his mass appeal to all races is a testament to his staying power as a classy country singer.

  • gave me a buzz!!

  • love it!!!

  • this what I needed!!!!!!!

  • Is that the Sweet Inspirations singing backup?

  • you are all very correct! Charlie Pride has always been my favorite singer. Other kids made fun of me when I was in junior high because when they asked my favorite singer, I would say charlie pride instead of trying to conform.

  • Whoever called country white noise obviously never heard of Charlie.

  • Comment removed

  • It's great to see and read how so many have experienced the wonder of Charlie Pride's songs growing up as kids as I did. I teach school now but for years I drove a truck and would put in one of his tapes I found and would play those songs to my soul's contentment. He's always been one of my favorites. Got to go to a Ranger's playoff game this year and Charlie sang our national anthem. What an honor!

  • I grew up listening to Charlie. Brings back memories

  • less analyzin...more drinkin

  • Never heard this one before but love it - awesome!

  • anybody know a song by Clarley Pride "up to my heart in memories" if anyone know where I can find it please let me know.

    angeleyes990

  • super song!!!! wo ist mein Pferd mein drink meine stiefel :-)))))

  • love his voice!!!! goooood song!!!

  • One of the best Charlie Pride songs. Luv it.

  • Charley Pride sure knows how to sing! He is one of the greatest singers out there, regardless of what color skin he has. Thank you for comingout and being one of the greatest there is.

  • @scoobydoo535 If you really feel that way as far as him being a great singer, why was the issue of skin color even mentioned? You covert racist white folks kill me. You might as well have typed "that nigger sure can sing."

  • @speakwhnspkn2 I am not racist, I am simply stating he is a great singer. I have several favorite singers, black and white, and if racism is an issue with you then maybe you need to find someone else to balk at. Skin color is not an issue where I stand and I would appreciate not being called anything but called anything but a great fan of Charley Pride.

  • @scoobydoo535 my apologies friend.

  • @speakwhnspkn2 Thank you. It really burns me when I get judged for something like a comment. I have grown up on rock and roll before getting into country and always enjoyed songs by the greatest singers of the time, and after hearing Charley Pride for the first time I really got into it. Nowadays we have him and others like Darius Rucker (formerly of Hottie & The Blowfish) to enjoy jamming to on the radio.

  • now I'm feeling my age. LOL They dont make music like that any more.

  • This is Charlie Pride's 2nd version. I like the first version he did a lot better.

  • Actually, a rerecordin', gang. Charley's original was recorded a half-step higher. Hit #1 in Billboard, 3-20-82. God bless!

  • Reminds me of the days when life was much simpler. Country just isn't country anymore without Charley Pride, Jim Reeves, Don Gibson -- to name a few.

  • man this song is addicting. i love pride's take on this johnny rivers classic, I love both versions of this incredible song!

  • I remember my Mom & Dad dancing in the living room ,what a great visual

  • What a great song. Charlie really shines on this !! I wonder why someone doesnt do a 2010 version.

  • I used to listen to Charley when I was growing up. My dad had at least one of his albums, and I was oblivious to race issues at that time. All I knew was it was good music. Looking back, I see he had so much more than I knew, and I can better appreciate the power of his music. As a person who likes all kinds of music, Charley is one of the best for soothing the soul and lifting spirits. Very few compare.

  • Love the song

  • kjj.kjb.kjn.,jn.kjn.kjb

  • Another Charlie Pride my Mom, Dad & I love.

Mom & Dad must have every LP & Cassette Charlie Pride ever put out!

Even to this day we buy his "Best OF" CDs. Wonderful artist IMHO and it was Dad who I used to drive around with & listen to Charlie on his cassettes in his car! :-)

  • That's what country is all about. Charley You live in our hearts forever.

  • My mom used to play CP to me as a baby.

  • Like both versions a lot, but prefer

the JR version although only very slightly.

  • that's racist! ha just kiddin

  • Charley Pride was and continues to be a great favorite country music singer of mine. Thank you Charley for your great singing and person that you are. May God Jehova bless you!!!!

  • Great!

  • good audio.

charlie always had excellent settings and musicians. didn't hurt that he had a great voice too.

there are very few artists that you can say meant as much to a particular genre. if there had been no charlie pride, country music would be so much less than it is today.

  • DEFIANCE, OHIO's 1280am WONW PLAYED THIS SONG ALOT IN THE SPRING OF 1982....'GO CHARLIE GO'. GREAT SONG...GREAT VOICE....GREAT MAN!!!!

  • both of them deserve a major thumbs up!! they are both great in their own right!!

  • More of you caharlie ! Just can't get enough.

  • I might need to clarify myself. Charley Pride is what america is all about-- get to know us you just might fit in. We all came from other places but we all want the same thing--peace and harmony. I look at him as a hero but he sure can sing what d'ya say.

  • he does it with so little effort.
