  • Hey, I'm trashing a few 86-7 Harmo frames next month. pm me

  • There was a bike back in the 80's that the frame had valves so you could put helium in it to make it lighter. Lol

  • He and a few others shaped bmx into what it is today

  • It's called a nollie. Lol

  • lol 50 lb bike

  • try 20 pounds fool

  • @whatyousayguy my pk ripper was 23 lbs. nothing like the heavy junk today...

  • hey bro ya in my opinion bmx hit its prime in like 1983 till like 1992 I have a 1984 red line proline and it weighs like 26.8 I love old school bmx I have over 10 bikes in my collection

  • He was right about being able to ride on the front wheel, it took about 20 years for people to do it.

  • Skyway mag 2's , the best freestyle wheels of the days , coaster brake, strong dupont material, and they looked the BOMB. Quite heavy tho'

  • @quadrant2012 they were way to heavy I had a set on for a few months and went back to spokes, but they were cool looking!

  • what does he use for a back hub? like.. did they have freecoasters back then? i dont know to much history. the closest thing i have to history is my 87 hutch excel, and i fucking love it.

  • Coaster brake rear hub.

    Not freecoaster.

  • yeah they had freecoaster

but they turned them into that

you know those bikes when you pedal backwards they brake?

    well yeah

you take off 2 plates and it turns into a freecoaster and you can backpedal as much as you want

  • He is the rodney mullen of the BMX

  • lol that is very true

  • wow rare footage nice find

  • i got a bob haro book binnder from 81 wen he road for red line his art work yea tricks from fotos it was like walking 5 miles in the snow then you got there so rewarding then now 5yr old doing tail wips park kids

  • Tricks seems really tame compared to today, but that's where it all started. It was great to be alive back in '82,'83,'84. BMX Plux, BMXA Action. Video was super expensive back then so we had to figure out each trick from still pictures.

  • i have a free coaster

    :)

    theyr sick

  • All haro did was make plates and stickers. He retired before he ever got started. This was 81 i think

  • Definately Wrong.

  • he's just so fucking smooth with the tricks

  • yea its pretty complex im not even too sure if i was right

  • wow, how does he just roll back!? lol... like i know mine doesnt unless u peddle backwards as well :S lol

  • its called a freecoaster

  • how does it work

    O.o

  • im not to sure but i think its like a regular cassette but instead of the pawls locking inside the hub when it goes backward, they dont and just let it spin. maybe

  • ohhh, im confused! lol...

  • Yeah, i know that now you can use a free coaster for rolling backward without pedaling, but i dont think they had those back then

  • I think he's using coaster brakes, like on little kids bikes cause you dont have to peddle backwards on those i dont think...i may be rong

  • Does anyone have an old school Dyno bike for sale?

  • detour of 98?

  • they had freecoaster back then...hahaha..

  • that was one of my Favorite Bikes back in 1986, The Haro Team Master ..

  • These ol´skool bike videos are pure gold!!!!

  • kinda boring but fun to watch

  • Hmm now let's see....whats wrong with that statement???

  • I am going to guess it is from 1980 since Bob was born in 1958.

  • I just remember that i could never afford haros or redlines. Just rode dynos and hutches. LOL.

  • Bob started this sh*t!

  • Bob really did start it all. And at 22.

  • freecoaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • umm no haha nice guess......freecoasters were not invented.....my best guess is coaster brake

  • just look at the way bmx has progressed sense than

  • he has a wierd style though

  • Yeah he wobbles alot. Mind you back then good style was rare haha.

  • Check out my 16" Haro video. Katherine

  • he is the reason why i started riding 25 years ago and still ride today.thank you very much MASTER BOB.

  • WOW you obviusly must be a little kid. These guys where the first in their class to ever do freestyle. If it wasnt for old school "flat land wouldnt ever exist. These guys had class, not like the punks that you have now.

  • sick rims

  • Wheres bob now?

  • Dennis Enarson

  • wow the rims are old school but the plastic versions bend when u use them in hot weather for long periods of time

  • really? i never had that problem ive used white skyway tuffs, and these old three spoke gt/dyno plastic rims

  • i dunno but i have two frends that had that happen to them

and even snapped in the winter

  • does anyone think Haro F1 is good?

  • Yeah F1 is good but the F4 has better durability.

  • Go to ww vvdailypress com and search ((Walking a thin line)) to see some freestylers from .1949

  • there was no freestyle in 1949, lol

  • gotta love those helmets haha

  • wow,I have an action now mag from 81 advertising this vid!cool!,guys don,t hate on bob haro, bob laid the groundwork for what we do today,so dont hate just because you didnt get a motives sticker at a post-show sticker toss, lol!Ive noticed these comments on bob on every video he's on in youtube, but history remains unchanged, the first freestyle bike was the freestyler, the first kov was done by haro ,hoffman did the first flip on vert on a haro, mirra obliterated the x-games on a haro, and so forth!

  • R.L.s the kyle petty of bmx, Along with HARO they only got where they are in the sport because they had their own personal PAPARAZZI. R.L.'s DAD, owner of the BMX Action mag. HMM.. Guys like Woody Itson, martin, William(Crazy Lacy)Furmage, Tony Ray Davis, Jeff Watson and a few other top riders never if ever got Photo shoots for the mag. Thanks to the internet these OTHER guys can get some respect they deserve. Google/youtube them. BMXFreestyleLegend is spot on. Crazy & Bill Watkins show .1979

  • any one know what hes doing now

  • I may be old but I'm not senile. Personally I think freestyle started about early 1979.Guys like Fiola, Itson and Aparijo weren't even around then. The BMXA Trick Team with Haro and Osborne was in full swing and Mike Buff had only just joined the BMXA "test" team. By mid 1980 Haro had parted ways with the team and magazine and Buff took his place. Sure, Bob Haro may have been in the right place at the right time but BMXHISTORIAN is out by about 4 or 5 years. Don't forget Fred Blood LOL!!!

  • wrong bmx historian!!!!, bob haro is the godfather of freestyle with tinker juarez, andy ruffell(uk). the bmxa trick team, those are the origins

  • excellent

  • fucckk yavais des freecoster ds stemps la?

  • Those who think bob haro started freestyle. Thats a myth. It was Started by guy like Eddie Fiola, Tony Ray Davis, Mike Buff, William(Crazy Lacy)Furmage, RL, Martin Aparijo, Woody itson, Fred Becker, William Watkins. Bob was just a poser who made number plates. Then later bike frames. GOT IT!

  • Spot on. I was there. BMXA mag was a joke and didn't report on the sport that good. Gee I wonder.

Because R Ls dad owned the mag.

  • This is taken from a U.S. show called, "Action Now magazine for television", which covered alternative sports, such as BMX, skateboarding etc. Do you have the rest of the show? I've been after this for nearly 24 years!

  • unfortunately i've never seen the full prog. i was given the short bob haro footage years ago on a tape which had a mix of all sorts on the tape.

  • Great video!
