I removed that comment because I figured that the fact of Bert going to jail had nothing to do with this skit as of what user "CanadaFamilyMan" was thinking.
In my previous case, Ernie is made from the Large Orange Live-Hand Anything Muppets pattern type, but not officially in his own right like the Laundromat Manager (from "The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland"), King Fred Charming, Murray the Mediocre, Sir John Feelgood, Mo, The Grand Royal Square Lover, Diva D'Abruzzo and the dentist from "The Dentist of Seville".
I know Ernie is an Large Orange Live-Hand Anything Muppet, but I really don't know if Bert is or was an Anything Muppet. I mean I hardly ever heard of a Yellow-Gold Anything Muppet pattern type, but the only Muppets that are made from the Yellow Gold pattern are just Bert and his relatives.
A quiet sketch about loud food! No offense, but on my computer the quality of the sound for this vid's kind of low compared to the other Sesame Street vids... even with my speakers' setting all the way up. I liked this video though.. good idea for a Sesame Street sketch!
That's true. I don't get bothered by loud snacks in movie theaters either. Maybe it's because the volume in the movie theater is loud and I don't hear people making noise with snacks (I do sometimes hear people eating crunchy snacks but, the noise doesn't bother me because of the loud volume in the theater).
If I was accidentally bothering people with noisy snacks and an usher was going to throw me out I'd say "I paid money to see this movie fair and square and I'm not leaving."
Ernie shouldn't have been eating his snacks loudly causing Bert to yell and cause the usher to throw him out for no reason just because he accidentally shouted, so therefore Ernie would've been the one to be thrown out. The usher also should've taken his time to listen to Ernie's situation as the result for which he was eating his snacks loudly, so therefore the usher would've taken Ernie to sit out in the hallway for 5 minutes to think about his mistake rather than throwing Bert out.
My guess is that, after Bert gets thrown out of the theater, he probably would've gone back to his apartment and did something that he enjoys doing to get rid of his anger and/or sadness.
The things he would like to do after getting thrown out of the theater are, playing with his paper clip and his bottlecap collections, or going to the park to see and feed pigeons, or going to Hooper's Store, or a cafe, etc. to have a bowl of oatmeal (Bert's favorite food).
Yes, that also can help get rid of Bert's anger and/or sadness once he gets thrown out of the theater. Or, as Bert is sitting in his favorite chair, he can also think of the letter "W" and/or the number "6" since they are his favorite letter and number.
Oh yeah! He could play checkers with Bernice, or he can sing & dance to "Doin' the Pigeon." Basically, anything to do with pigeons, paper clips, bottle caps, or oatmeal would set Bert at ease. :)
Oh yes, those are definitely Bert's favorite things that can make him feel better after the usher threw him out of the theater. (Since he loves pigeons a lot he can go to the park and give a pigeon call to make other pigeons fly up to him since I know he tried to do that in one skit).
Indeed, if I was Joan Ganz Cooney I would have had Jon Stone excise the sketch and I would have blacklisted whoever wrote it for writing it in the first place.
"Ernie shouldn't have been loudly eating his snacks; causing Bert to yell at him and by causing the usher to throw Bert out just because he shouted by accident.
So ITC... Ernie could've been the one to be thrown out and the usher should've taken his time by listening to Ernie's explanation about his reason for loudly eating his snacks so that Mr. Usher would be able to take Ernie out to sit in the hallway for at least 5 minutes, rather than unreasonably doing it to Bert".
That's true. I've been to the movies a lot where I hear people crunching on popcorn and nachos very loud. Also you're right that, yelling during a movie is not allowed. The usher should've known better also that, he was also talking too loud during the movie as he was throwing Bert out of the theater. If the usher thinks that Bert screaming across the theater was bothering people, his talking too loud to Bert (instead of whispering) would probably bother people too.
Maybe the reason why they made this clip was to teach the audience to try to be quiet during a movie by eating crunchy snacks quietly, especially not to talk while a movie is going on. The only thing I wonder is if in real life if someone can really get thrown out of a movie theater if they talk too loud or be noisy. The reason I wonder that is because, people do pay for tickets to see movies and they don't deserve to get thrown out if they payed. It's sad if Bert didn't get his money back.
If the person is bothering the other people then they do deserve to be kicked out of the theatre. And I agree, it sucks not getting your money back once you got kicked out (I was talking about Bert).
@afriendofbean If Bert thinks Ernie's snacks are too load Wait! until he goes a real movie theater in real life! Bert will go crazy with crunchy nachos and surpassing sodas!
Yes, I'm sure Bert will get really angry if he heard someone in real life eating loud crunchy snacks in a movie theater since Bert is a person who gets angry at things easily. (Maybe if the volume was loud in the movie theater, nobody would have shushed Ernie as he was eating his snacks).
I remember when I was seeing a movie, a lot of times whenever the movie was going from scene to scene a little girl was constantly saying loudly "is it over" but, no usher came to say quiet or anything.
Hey wattamack4, do you know what TV station do they have old Sesame Street espiodes and where you downloaded this one? Because PBS always replay the new ones on PBS Channel 12 and 36. I am tired of the new epsiodes. So I was wondering what channel do they show old Sesame Street epsoide back in the 1990's? Please reply me back. Thanks. From dcencia. :)
Yes I agree. Almost on every Ernie and Bert skit, the skits mostly have a happy ending for Ernie but, a sad or angry ending for Bert. Ernie mostly gets Good Luck on the skits but, Bert mostly gets Bad Luck on the skits.
True, but I notice that when Ernie appears in skits without Bert, HE usually ends up with the bad luck, outsmarted by someone or having something go wrong.
I have this little theory that Ernie is actually a very insecure person who gets picked on a lot by life, and so gets his sole source of kicks by outsmarting Bert and driving him nuts, because he's so easy a target and it's the only way Ernie can feel on top of anything. Ernie's cocky attitude is all an act. ;}
Yes I have noticed that too how Ernie gets Bad Luck on skits without Bert. Some of the skits Ernie receives Bad Luck are when he gets confronted by Lefty The Salesman to buy a stolen item from him, and whenever Ernie says one thing a little loud, Lefty constantly has to shush Ernie. However, on some skits with Ernie and Lefty, there are a lot of things that Ernie likes that Lefty tries to sell to him, so if it's something that Ernie likes, then maybe that skit ends with Good Luck for Ernie.
Yeah, Ernie usually outwits Lefty by putting on what to me looks like a "playing dumb" act. :]
But often with other characters, like Cookie Monster, or that newsboy who once tricked him into buying a paper, Ernie's the usually the one who ends up getting tricked, exasperated or frazzled.
I remember that skit. Also, there was another skit where Ernie stole Bert's nose when Ernie was trying to make a clay sculpture of Bert when Ernie got every face body part of Bert except the nose. Then when Ernie told Bert that he's out of clay, he stole Bert's nose instead and put it on the clay sculpture of Bert. (Maybe after Bert made Ernie lose his nose from the "Mysterious Nose Snatcher", Ernie probably got angry and made Bert lose his nose).
There was ONE skit where Bert triumphed over Ernie for real, though: where Herry tricks Ernie into saying the word on the sign he's holding ("No"), and Ernie tries to do the same thing with Bert - only Bert isn't fooled, and instead Ernie ends up saying "no", over and over again!
I've never seen that skit. The only skit I've seen with Ernie, Bert, and Herry was the skit where all three of them in Ernie and Bert's apartment where they were all deciding who gets to sit in a comfortable chair in front of the television while watching television.
Yes, I've seen that skit. Also, I remember seeing Ernie and Bert on the muppet show in the 80s where Ernie pulled Bert's nose off for fun, and when Bert told Ernie to give him his nose back, Ernie put Bert's nose back on Bert's face.
After reading all of this I just have to say that it is my conviction that all of the Bert and Ernie will probably never be shown on the program proper again. It just doesn't fit in with Sesame Workshop's new spoon-fed, dumbed down curriculum.

Funny how as soon as Bert was kicked out, Ernie sat and watched. W/ out eating anymore. And isn't Ernie smart. He brought his own stuff along. It'd cost him $15 for the soda, milk duds and popcorn(or peanuts in his case)

Funny how as soon as Bert was kicked out, Ernie sat and watched. W/ out eating anymore. And isn't Ernie smart. He brought his own stuff along. It'd cost him $15 for the soda, milk duds and popcorn(or peanuts in his case)

Ernie probably did bring popcorn but changed his mind about eating it after Bert got carried away, so to speak. ROFL

Is there never any justice for Bert? The poor guy.
But give Ernie credit. He did try to stop the usher after all.

Poor Bert...it's a shsme he never considered seeing the movie alone in the first place.
ISNorden 4 years ago
In order for that to happen,he would have to travel to the future to 1991 when for a while he was alone due to Jim Hensons death lol.

This is a lot better than the previous copy.
No noggin logo, better quality, and still an instant classic!
