1999davis, if this is happening on a desktop computer then you're most likely dealing with a power supply issue. If you have a spare, or a friend with a tower that you can pull a power supply from, then swap them out and see if that helps. Keep in mind that the wattage (usually 400 watts or more on newer systems) needs to be the same or higher in order to handle the capacity. You may just have to invest in a new one. Usually around $50 to $60 at your local computer store or cheaper online.
Landophant, that's an HP Pavilion, yes? I'll need a model number to get you exact instructions and diagnose fully. However, first guess? I'd say that either a) the motherboard needs to be completely reset or b) the video chip has gone bad and needs to be reflowed. Neither of those is particularly easy but B is next to impossible. my desktop wont start but blink and stop blink and stop continuely... and my windows dont start anymore... can you help me sir?? at least give me prediction what component fail in my desktop system
