Wikid amen programming from Equinox, cant beleive i went to the same school as him and never knew he was already releasing tracks longside bizzy b back in 93, Shout to all the Amen butchers, Remarc, Bizzy B, Equinox, Sqaurepusher and Hattrixx, Good to hear an emphasis on the drum programming.
@choppageworshipper & rhyse1977 - Equinox was around in the early 90's with Bizzy B & Remarc. He took a hiatus for several years and came back in 2002. All of this can be disputed by looking up his history simply on discogs or asking him ;)
Yes your right, Equinox has always been there but apart from this tune which is mind-blowing and far ahead of its time, i wouldn't rank him up there with Remarc and Bizzy B, in fact i think source direct, photek and a few others should be placed higher up the list.
trust me equinox was dropping crazy twists and chopped breaks long before anyone else, thats why he's so f#cking good at it. alot of the people you might compare him to actually know him and were probably shown how to do most of what they did by him...
Props to equinox..you are the original amen twissa!
Not before Remarc mate, Remarc&Bizzy B are the original choppers, but if you go all the way back, it is probably LTJ Buken who should have the accolade for the first chopped amen tunes(as far back as 92 in fact)
Apparently after taking a few years out of the scene, coz it all went a little cheesy, Remarc was brought around to the idea of goin down to one of the inperspective gigs, coz apparently a small collective were still doin the amen thing. People at the time were talking about this tune. He went, heard it and apparently said-What the fuck and was blown away by it!!!
This about as dangerous as it gets, heard this years ago on Fabio & Grooverider, together with a remix of 'Horizons' that I aint been able to find, ever lol, so I made one myself.
zomfgmz, I must thank you for your relpy to my first comment. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have done a google search and stumbled across the greatest old school jungle forum with links to download the best MP3 jungle mixes, cds, radio shows, and it's all FREE!!!! Thank you very much!!!!!
Clearly you haven't listened to much/any old school (Mid 90s) jungle MCs. For a good example - go find some 95/96 jungle recordings with Bizzy B and MC Whoosh to educate yourself.
What Acid Rain E.P.? As far as I know it was released on Inperspektive Records, on a 12" together with the 'Century 47 Mix' done by Breakage.. Catalogue: INP008 (2004)
