This song is for Rick wherever you are. I wish I knew then what I know now. I loved you so much. I wish we would have done everything we said we were going to do. I miss you, will always love you, and I forgive you! Laura
Ric you will never know what this song has meant to me over the years. When I first heard it in 1989 I was going though a major break up and it was this song that I listened to repeatedly after finding it on Kenny's Something Inside So Strong album. Thank you for putting pen to a beautiful song that will forever be one of my favorites!
This is an amazing song...unfortunately, at 43 yrs old from NY, I do not remember it...I would love, love for this song to be re-recorded by contemporaries, so that listeners could enjoy it....as far as I am concerned...Kenny and Glayds are awesome...and I will continue listening to them! Thanks!
If only...if only...My love passed before this song was released...but it summed up the deepest feelings from my heart...Mr Butler...this was written from your spirit and Kenny and Gladys sang it from their spirit.
Mr. Butler this song writing is pure genius. Songs like this captured the essence of 1980s soft rock. Songs written by yourself, Richard Marx, Dave Grusin, David Foster, Michael Masser, the list goes on. Many of these songs start off slow with gentle vocals which are purely chilling, and then rise with passion with a bridge or towards the end of the song. Truly some of the most thought-provoking lyrics and music ever written. As a pianist, I truly appreciate this music style.
@RicButler Mr. Butler, I want to thank you for giving me the biggest gift of my sophomore year in high school. I had never been in love when I first heard this, but the 45 sang me to sleep many many nights when I was 15-16 years old. What a wonderful, soothing sound, and such spellbinding lyrics. You shared such a gift with the world with this song.
I heard this last night for the first time, What a great song. Two greats. Peace
