that's a complete bullshit. nither the coppelia and the hermanos amejeiras hospital were built by that time.besides the city arquitecture is acomplete ruin as it can be seen nowaday
@abab999ab I respect your opinion, but grew up in cuba health and education. Cuba would be better without the economic blockade of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
@Luiscesarx Thanks for the respect offered, i like that :0).Really do appreciate it and like that this will not turn into anything other but opinion sharing. Thank you:0) I also grew up in Cuba. Born and raised. Health care IS FREE and i wish in the US health care was better. The problem in Cuba is that if there is no medicine then there is no point in having free health care, and if there is not a tool to perform a surgical operation, then there is no point in any of it. It's sad.
@abab999ab Good to know that you are Cuban. I am a teacher and I met in Cuba in 1991, liked what I saw and plan to return in 2012. I do not speak English. The google is helping me. Happy new year.
@Luiscesarx Education was good. Nowadays, students don't see the benefits in burning their eyelashes when they cant have a decent job to perform. Salary is the worst and degrating.
The blockage issue i don't agree with. I wish we didn't have one. China and the US don't have one, but that's more political than what it is humane. I go to Cuba as often as possible and help my family as much as i can. They struggle. EVERYONE STRUGGLES! Fidel will be Fidel with or without a blockage.
@DukeAlba Couldn't be more thankful to you indeed, since almost a three days was so concerned to know what is this song that moves your body and soul lol
La Coppelia is in the photos too, built in 1966. People dressed in more modern clothing. Annoying computer-generated scratches and dust on the "film." Joseph Zayas, if you're trying to make a tribute to 1950s Havana, why not just say so? And I've seen you at Georgies - you're no hunk.
ESTE VIDEO NO CORRESPONDE A LOS AÑOS 50. MENTIROSOS!!!!! SE VE UNA HABANA DESTROZADA Y LA HELADERIA COPPELIA FABRICADA DESPUES DE LA DESGRACIA DE 1959. HASTA PARA FALSEAR LA REALIDAD SON MALOS. A QUIEN PRETENDEN ENGAÑAR? CERDOS!!!!!!
Perdóname, pero estas fotos no son de los 50s -you can tell from the night shots -Habana de noche en los 50s was a sea of light -everything was illuminated -the pictures here are far more recent.
And yes..this is a slide show or a movie of photos in a book...but just ennjo the music and the photos...This video is more interesting is the one on youtube of
Chill out people... Cuba could have benefited greatly and not have t spend so much for food if the embargo was not in place. And that may have allowed for their government to be a success in more ways than it is today. Not saying anything for or against, the embargo really played a large part in hurting the Cuban people. Fidel is Fidel, but does not our gov't sometimes ignore the poor and starving right here in the US?There is so much going on in this world, who can argue it one way or another...
@ositomoose The embargo has had no effect on cuba. Cuba trades and is supplied by the rest of the world. cuban government uses the embargo as a cop out to rape it's people and hordes all the goods for itself. It's good to be the king.
@ositomoose No, the government does not ignore the poor and starving. where do you get your info? Ever heard of welfare. Every state has their own benefits for helping the poor. the key is if the individual wants the help or not. In cuba there are no such programs. You get a quota of food which is not enough to sustain anyone and that's it.
@br0nzepen - You are just so wrong... THere are tons of Homeless people here in the US that need help aren't getting it . I see new people out on the street each week... You are really misinformed...or you live in the Country side.... I traveled throughout Cuba andI did not see one homeless person... I don't condone what is happening there... but I just want the record set straight. The embargo definitely had an effect on Cuba... If you don't believe that then you shouldn't be posting.
@ositomoose Wrong - I will repost my response. - "No, the government does not ignore the poor and starving. where do you get your info? Ever heard of welfare. Every state has their own benefits for helping the poor. the key is if the individual wants the help or not. In cuba there are no such programs. You get a quota of food which is not enough to sustain anyone and that's it." No homeless in Cuba but everyone is poor. Embargo had nothing to do with this. Cuba still trades with the world.
You retard, Cuba is a Stalinist state with no market economy because COMMUNISTS have imposed such, for their egotistical control, and at the expense of the Cuban republic (which died years ago). You're truly believe the US embargo shit? Do you yet not know what communism is? I got news fool, the whole world does business with slave-masters Castro Inc and Cubans still can't speak, own private property, travel, have normal bank accounts, internet, free press, etc. PS, I post what I damn feel.
@brunettechocha You are not really getting my point but go on and feel what you feel.Yes, the Castros do business with the world.I'm just saying that if they were able to piggy back off the shipments to the US they would have gotten much better deals and there would have been a possibility for things to be better there. But that is only if the Castro Inc,as you put it were to share those returns with the people.I am not blind to what goes on there..nor here. They play a much worse game than ours.
I would rather have Hitler run Cuba than Castro, it wouldn't be a poor country, and being a Cuban American, it embarrasses me that my Father and Mother had to escape Cuba on a raft to come to freedom...
@RememberTHDays ignorent idiot!!!! may god curse your mouth for saying the stupidest bullshit!!! Hitler would have killed you, all your family and friends in death camps, in gas chambers and then burn your body for not fitting in his "perfect race" for not being aryan for not having blonde hair and blue/green eyes. Dont you have some shame!!
@CHErevolucionDJC ACTUALLYT, NO, BECAUSE I DO HAVE BLOND HAIR AND BLUE EYES, AND I WOULD RATHER HAVE SOMEONE LIKE HITLER WHO COULD KEEP A FUCKING COUNTRY TOGETHER, RATHER THAN HAVE CHE OR CASTRO WHO WILL DESTROY IT, IF UR AN AMERICAN, THEN U R A FUCKING IDIOT, GO TO CUBA AND TELL ME IM WRONG,,,
@CHErevolucionDJC LOL, you funny. US blockade, haha. Then why is the rest of the world trading and investing in Cuba? Mexico is poor because it's government neglects it's people (natives) and is corrupted. Gee, that sounds just like Cuba.
Please stop using the cop out excuse of using 1 country as the root of all of Cuba's problems. That is childish and laughable.
@CHErevolucionDJC SABES YO VIVI EN MEXICO; Y ANTE MIS OJOS HAY MUCHO MENOS POBRESA K EN CUBA,TE ASEGURO K SI PUDIERAN MILLONES DE CUBANOS SE IRIAN PARA ALLI,NINGUNA SOCIEDAD HA ACABADO CON LA POBRESA;SOLO UN TONTO LO CREERIA, PERO LA SOCIALISTA SE ESPECIALIZA EN REPRODUCIRLOS,EL UNICO BLOQUEO K IMPIDE EL DESARROLLAR EL INTELECTO,EL TENER PROPIEDADES ES EL K LOS CASTROS IMPONEN A MI COMPATRIOTAS.
This is not havana in the 50's. I lived for 26 years in front of that same malecon you see on this pics. Iam from EL VEDADO i mean iam really from there and i guarantee you this pics were taken after the 50's. There are even LADAS ( russian cars) in this pictures.
The only thing progressive about you elizabethfarone appears to be HATE! It has grown progressively worse with each comment. And you should be ashamed of yourself for using that language.
As a Cuban exile I feel like crying when I see and remember as a child a prosperous country before the destruction by a marxist-lenninist tyrant. I hope the American people never fall for this ideology. America is in more danger today than ever before. May God help this great nation!
What? Are you dick cheney? If not how dare you use the plight of the Cuban people to further your agenda against Obama and the Democrats who you should know is nothing like Fidel Castro. You're either stupid, evil or both.
My goodness! I can not believe your comments because I believe this great nation is in danger! You claim that I am stupid, evil or both! Well my friend, I have been exposed to Marxists since I was a child. Most Democrats are not Marxists, but some Marxists call themselves Democrats to fool the innocent. These folks are trying to destroy the great party of Jefferson. I have Marxists in my family. I can spot them a lot easier than you can. The good thing is that the American people is waking up.
The danger to this great nation is and always has been thoughts framed as yours are. That last statement is loaded with irony since the conservative movement seems to be in tailspin on it's way down the toilet......."waking up" indeeed. Just a little too late for their own good.
Wow! You represent the ultimate in intolerance. There will always be liberals, conservatives, marxists, nazis ( National Socialists), fascists and idiots. Your hatred against people who disagree with you is amazing. I welcome your comments. You see, the more you write, the more other folks will see exactly where to place you. Have a good day.
You are silly now. Framing reactions to your nonsense in such a cowardly way. Intolerance trying to hold a mirror to intolerance that you know does not exist. You are trying to detract from the fact that you are a conspiracy theorist with an agenda, simple mindedly framing your hate in a way to make it sound as if you care. Did I offend you? That is more and more what folks like you need. Put that in your "marxist" cousins pipe and smoke it.
@callouschristian Look we are not going to agree on this issue and if you are not worried as to what is happening to this country, I am. And believe me, I am not alone. Wait unitl November and see what will happen to the House of Representatives. However, I hope that we agree that the way to go is not Castro's Cuba. Can we agree on this?
I just want to say I think that most people I talk to about Cuba or the USSR in America, where I was born and am happy to live, have no real idea of what it is to want simple freedom so much - I'm not talking for money or material things - the right to move from one city to another - the right to leave your own country at will - the right to eat the fruit from the tree in your backyard - the right to speak out loud these things we talk about -
Actually Castro and his revolution could not have been successful if not supported by the people. Or if the seperation of the Rich and the Poor had been so wide without the existence or a very little number of a Middle Class. The Middle Class which acts as a buffer between the two...
well u cant say that... cuba is poor but you have to admit that the empire called USA has been trying hard in the last 50 years to bankrupt that little island. and before castro it was a small number of rich and a huge number of poor, starving, dying people. now, once again, its a small number of rich and a huge number of poor people but they have 2 things - excellent healthcare and good life expectancy (higher than that of the US).
Plus I think the whole problem lays with how Castro nationalized all the property that US companies owned... like Bell Telephone... in Cuba... And the fact that US sugar producers did not want competition. IMO the revolution in Cuba was a good thing... and Castro turning to the hands of the Soviets was due to the demands US companies put on him...
well both before and after the revolution cuba was poor. but the difference is that before the revolution it was exploited by the USA and the money went to the imperialists, and now it isn't exploited by anybody and all the money goes to castro (which is better than going to the americans). A friend who lived in Cuba says Castro has about 100 billion in Canadian banks
You clearly hate the United States but that does not make Castro a good thing. Why don't you educate yourself first. Nothing that you see in these pictures was made by Fidel, not to mention all the families separated and deaths.
Sorry DestroyerAlexandros ,but i'm totally disagree with you in this matter ,the money have to go to the cuban people ,this goverment has been in power for half a century like I said before ,and there is no such of "bloqueo" to Cuba ,that's a mith ,believe me i have friends very close to this goverment ,and what they do is taking advantage of the situation like the whole elite in the goverment,is horrible what happen in Cuba with this regime ...
Ah dude, as long as there is authority the money will never go for the people. It's not like they went to the people before 1959. Worse, they went to the people who were destroying Cuba. Now I know I will sound a bit nazi here but you have to forgive me - just because Cuban border jumpers invade the USA and see, what is in their eyes heaven, doesn't mean the system of the US is heaven. You have to accept that it's a country based on 100 years of exploitation & ruining other countries (like Cuba)
"You have to accept that it's a country based on 100 years of exploitation & ruining other countries (like Cuba)..." sorry DestroyerAlexandros ,one thing i learn here in this great country of us,( i consider this country mine too) is respet the opinion of others even if you are totally disagree with them, but your point if the point of the rest of the horrible Latinamerican ,where they blame USA for everything,i don't believe that ,you have a great day ,
You call this country yours??? "( i consider this country mine too)" are you serious?? People with some F-ing self-consciousness in the USA hate immigrants and minorities. And to be honest, you can't blame 'em. You call that country yours yet at the same time you take the job of some person who was born in America and has lived his whole life serving that country. Currently, the USA has a lower life expectancy than Cuba! And why is that? It's because of border-jumpers and petrol wars. You call
If you hate immigrants and minorities, you hate yourself. All people in the U.S. (sans Native Americans) are recent immigrants. The entire world is comprised of immigrants. Humans had to migrate for survival and have always done so. You exist because your ancient ancestors left South Africa.
HORSESHIT. America is a success..because of Immigrants...WHITE EUROPEAN CHRISTIAN IMMIGRANTS..that bring their culture with them. Every other culture...turns the USA into a cesspool just like back home. Now PROVE otherwise. Look at L.A...30 years ago and NOW..look at Detroit 40 years ago and NOW. Look at ANY black or hispanic community ANYWHERE...and think what it costs the WHITE TAXPAYER to keep your lies from imploding
I think you have me mistaken for someone else. You have anger issues. I do think for myself , My faith in Christ has opened my heart. Maybe u should try the same. In your efforts for the cuban people remember that you'll get a lot more with honey then you will with Vinager! And I Donate money to Unicef for the children of disasters, Volunteer with the elderly, and Drive a truck for the Red Cross when disaster hits. You have to love everybody Liz...unconditionally. I do, even you.
Thats one of the biggest myths about Cuba syntaur. The Cuban revolution was not a reaction against poverty and inequality, it was a reaction against the political repression of Batista. Cuba had the largets middle class in Latin America after Argentina, and the myth of a poor Cuba before the revolution was perpetuated by Castro.
In fact, Castro never said he was communist until after he took everyone's arms way in 1962. He would never have had the people's support if he said he was communist.
I was there. I was born there. My father was against Batista. But I can tell you that Castro lied and that Havana before Castro was not the brothel that is represented in some 1990's American films.
I agree ,what happen before Castro regime ,was nothing compare what happen the last 50 years with Castro, totally destroy the cuban identity ,38 % of the cuban youth already left Cuba ,i don't count the rest of the cuban people, which is worse...
this your country and at the same time it's people like you that are responsible for its rapid degradation - people who are unaware of all the bullshit the authorities are doing and the self-destructive system.
If Cuba is so bad, why are americans going there to receive free medical attention? That's right, because the corporations have taken over american health care and have destroyed it
Next time come with real facts no lies ,over 3 millions cubans left the country ,the medicals services those americans received are not the same the cuban people received ,and also are not free ,if you want to discuss with me come with trues not lies ,have a nice life !!
3 millions measured in criminals, assassins and drug lords. To be honest, I'd be glad if the same faces left my country too.
If you want your country to be an american colony, go ahead and support american imperialism. But if you are a smart guy, I know you will pick up some Kropotkin and watch some Chomsky interviews. Then maybe you will break loose from the imperialist grip.
Americans seem to love the word "ignorant" even though they don't seem to quite have a grip on the meaning. This must be another media-manipulation so typical for trans-Atlantic suburbia.
Being a student, with tight control from the parental authority, I prefer to consider myself a theoretician. Hard mental labour is what I entitle myself to. Nevertheless, I am engaging in labour on a para-labour basis.
Actually, when I spent time in Cuba, I needed medical attention. I received better diagnostics for my condition than I had in New York City with the best doctors. I was treated in a clinic by doctors who treat Cubans. Spend a few months in Cuba, listen to the different opinions of Cubans, and experience it for yourself.
Can I listen to the millions of Cubans who did anything to get out that hellhole?
Can I look at the photos of Cuba today..compared to 1959? Can I go to the real hospitals that real Cubans go to..the shit stained tin shacks where they might have a free aspirin if you are lucky? Or do I have to listen to the official line of propaganda to be enlightened like you?
You don't have to go to Cuba. Just talk to the many Cubans (exiles from the past and present) who are here......ooops......I forgot.......you hate immigrants who speak Spanish......especially humanitarian ones.......
What I really hate is delusional white liberals who will tell themselves any lies, do any damage, give away the entire country all so their simple minded fairy tales can be believed in for a few minutes longer.
You better believe it...and whats worse there are millions of Americans like me...men who are simply not going to give away our country ..turn it into a third world shithole..to make your ideology happy
Why the fuck are you so shallow.......I never said Cuba was "so great"......you're just reactionary and thoughtless. Get thee to a library and stop watching TV and stop hanging out with and communicating with imbeciles.
You're the one who believes you are superior.....and that is why you don't bother to expose yourself to the information that is at your fingertips......SHAME, SHAME, SHAME on you!! A library is too high sidity for you!! I'm so tired of rebellion against what should be respected and desired. You're a low life conformist swimming in this financially rich country of ours that has no soul.
Why am I a conformist? because I work my fingers to the bone to make money 46hrs a week, and then work on my business. Im so sick of the pretentious assholes in this country saying how other countries are "oh so fucking great", yet they wont leave here because they know The United States of America is the best nation in the world. This is the only damn country in the world where you can raise another nations flag on your property and no one questions it. SHAME on you liberal scum!
If you're so happy to be living here, why are you so angry that you work your fingers to the bone. You seem to be the one pretending. And, by the way, many people do leave this country. Do a little research and you'll find out. You've obviously led a very limited life if you believe the US is the best place to live in the world. Victims come here from other parts of the world & some of the victimization is relieved, but not all of it. You are proof of that.
that is a paranoid delusion and a perfect example of why the repubican party is crumbling away. They have misled followers like you and you swallow hook line and sinker....then beg for more! You can't survive without lies. Lies are your heroin.
Im not sure why that comment was replied to me. I may have rightist views, but I also have leftist views as well. My views are COMMON SENSE views. Not Republican or Democrat. Wake up.
If you are working as hard as you claim, then you have no time for friends and family. What a great life you have. Here's to your good mental and physical health (NOT). You're just an extremely selfish person with no care in the world for how you harm others. Or how the US harms others. Hey, your benefiting. Are you doing it for love of family? I'm sure you are. That's some love. I wouldn't want a father like you. But I'm sure you've given birth to greedy children who's souls chose you.
wow, now this is turning into a name calling match with no facts(basically on your side). Trust me I play in an ice hockey league as well and have time to meditate and spend time with my family. So your whole argument is invalid. Bottom line is, if all these other countries are so great, then please do us all a favor and MOVE THE FUCK OUT.
You would love that, wouldn't you. No, we progressives are here to stay. Republicans are evil and you won't be in power much longer. The majority have had it with you. You'll be the ones who'll want to move the fuck out when you've lost all of your power.
@elizabethfaraone The only thing progressive about you is your HATE! It grows progressively worse with each comment. And you should beashamed of yourself for using that language.
My hatred of careless thoughts and beliefs. Too many refuse to educate themselves and continue to confirm their corrupt beliefs by reading and watching popular media, instead of reading the hundreds of books and watching the countless movies and documentaries that have been made on the subject of Cuba. Until you have done so with a loving heart, you will continue to express destructive opinions.
@elizabethfaraone You don't know me Elizabeth. You have know clue what I believe. I'm all about LOVE. I was just looking at Cuba today because I'm studying the Guaguanco' rhythm on the
Congas and I happened to catch your harsh remarks. If my remarks were destructive to as you said, well then I'm sorry. I believe you're more destructive to yourself though. The "F" bomb? Try opening up your loving heart. Christ said, "love your enemies." Be happy*
I am not afraid to use the word "fuck." Did you read what my harsh remarks were in response to? To strongly condemn those who are responsible for incredible destruction is a strong part of loving. I will not be happy when my brothers and sisters suffer amputations without anesthesia in Haiti because priority is given to receiving the armed forces - and when my brothers and sisters in Cuba suffer under the embargo.
@elizabethfaraone Suffer under the embargo?? Cuba trades and invests with the rest of the world. US is the only country that doesn't trade with Cuba, everyone else does. Cubans aren't suffering under the embargo, they are suffering under the regime that hordes all the resources for all the other countries investing in Cuba.
@br0nzepen If you want to believe that the hostility towards Cuba has had no effect, argue it. But give me facts. Cuba amassed substantial debts owed to its Japanese, European, and Latin American trading partners acquired during the years of abundant Soviet aid. Their financial and social problems are complex. Start researching with a loving heart and open mind.
@elizabethfaraone I just did argue it. Give me facts that the embargo has had any negative effect on Cuba. I have done my home work by going to the school of hard knocks. I have lived the segregation of the Cuban people versus the foreign tourists and nationals. No need for research when you have 1st hand experience. US has a substantially larger foreign debt then Cuba but the majority of the population is not starving. No research needed when the homework has already been done.
@br0nzepen You stated it perfectly - you believe that you do not have to research anything and think deeply. And just because you have been a victim does not mean that you are not a victimizer. I am well aware of the hardships and human rights violations that the Cuban government is responsible for. I have been educated by "the school of the streets" and "the school of hard knocks. "
@elizabethfaraone As you said, When it comes to human rights violations in Cuba, I don't need to research anything and think deeply. That's a no brainer. I see you agree on that. I have no idea about what your trying to say on the victimizer statement. Your sentence makes no sense.
But you are dodging my original inquiry. Give me facts that the embargo has had any effect on Cuba.
Also the term is streewise not "the school of the streets" no such term.
@br0nzepen There IS an expression "school of the streets." But since you know it all, you will contradict this. You stated you have been a victim of Cuba's human rights violations. But I see you as a victimizer in many ways. One way is your competitive and condescending spirit. Another is your denial that US policies towards Cuba have not been destructive.
@elizabethfaraone Umm, no there is no such term. Please provide proof.
If we all follow your logic and way of thinking then you are a victimizer as well since because of your competitive and condescending spirit. Another is your denial that the US policies towards Cuba has had NO effect on Cuba.
I have 1st hand experience of the vast resources in Cuba's hands from foreign trade that is not made available to the Cuban people by the current regime.
@br0nzepen Beginning in 1992, the Cuban Democracy Act imposed a ban on subsidiary trade with Cuba. This ban has severely constrained Cuba's ability to import medicines and medical supplies from third country sources. Moreover, recent corporate buyouts and mergers between major U.S. and European pharmaceutical companies have further reduced the number of companies permitted to do business with Cuba.
@elizabethfaraone Please site sources. This is communist propaganda. I work for a pharmaceutical company and I can tell you that there are alot of European, Russian, China and the rest of the world that are supplying Cuba with medicine and supplies. The US does not nor can it dictate who can and can't do business with Cuba outside their borders.
@br0nzepen In March of 1997, the American Association for World Health wrote: the AAWH wishes to emphasize the stringent nature of the U.S. trade embargo against Cuba. Few other embargoes in recent history - including those targeting Iran, Libya, South Africa, Southern Rhodesia, Chile or Iraq - have included an outright ban on the sale of food. Few other embargoes have so restricted medical commerce as to deny the availability of life-saving medicines to ordinary citizens.
@elizabethfaraone This is just not true. Ban is only for US markets. Not other countries. US is not the ruler of the world. They can't and don't dictate who or what other countries can sell to Cuba.
@br0nzepen When I visited the island of Dominica in the early 1990s, a government official told me that the US instructed them not to send their students to Cuba for medical training. This was something he just happened to tell me as we were discussing the medical system in Dominica. I'm trying to post a website I want you to read, but YouTube is not permitting me to post it. Why is that? Am I doing something wrong?
@elizabethfaraone it won't allow you. Just give me the article name and I will google it.
You have to ask your Dominica official what agreement they signed with the US. Maybe it was this for that and they can't trade with Cuba. If the government Dominica signed the agreement then they have no one to blame but themselves. This is politics 101.
@elizabethfaraone OK, I read the articles. Now I want you to be objective and take a step back and ask yourself this simple question. What are the sources for these articles? They both traveled to Cuba and visited and witnessed the decrepit state of affairs in the clinics and hospitals. Now remember, these are hospitals for Cuban citizens not foreign nationals or tourist. Those are immaculate and abundant in medical supplies. to be continued.....
@br0nzepen I sent you the article because I agree with it. You and I simply have different points of view. I think the sources cited within the article and in the footnotes are valid sources. There is no indication in the article that the writer relied completely on Cuban government reports to draw his analysis and conclusions. To the contrary - he relied upon his own research - research of US government records - research of US laws - research of Cuba's history.
@elizabethfaraone it's biased. In an unbiased report you have both sides of the argument with supporting claims. The reader them makes a decision on which side to support. This article only talks about the "evil" of the US but does not talk about the aid the US has given to Cuba in terms of food and resources. Let me give you an example... to be continued.
@br0nzepen The writer of this article has never once said that the Castro regime is a good regime. If I were writing the article, I would write it in the same way. He is simply documenting how US policies have hurt the citizens of Cuba. I am aware of the wrongs of both Cuba and the US. There have been articles, books and documentaries made that specifically address the wrongs of the Castro regime. I have read them and I agree with many of them.
@elizabethfaraone But it's biased. It does not show any opposing views. Only sites resources to support it's claim. I always ask, "But what is the counter point." Like you I do my own research but in this case I have lived it and I know it not to be true.
@br0nzepen You don't have to show opposing views. If I hurt someone, I am guilty of hurting someone. There is no opposing view. You can fabricate opposing views if you think it is necessary to present an opposing view. Every excuse in the book can be made. The Castro regime and the US government have both done harm and both need to stop.
@elizabethfaraone Ah but then the question is, what is the truth? That's why you make opposing views and then make a choice on what you want to believe based on the evidence provided. One country cannot be the sole problems of another country. That is a cop out and illogical. Makes no sense. When the rest of the world is supporting you.
@br0nzepen You can only make a choice on what you believe if you are truly informed, and that takes a lot of research, not only life experience, though life experience is a part of it. For the most part, I trust the choices of the humanitarian and completely distrust the choices of opportunists. That doesn't mean that I don't get information from the opportunists, because they're very good at revealing the truths about one another and about the mistakes that are made even by the well intentioned
@elizabethfaraone I don't trust either. Unfortunately, in today's world. the majority of the human race is opportunistic. Hence, the state of the world that we live in today. Life experience is by most part the only source of truth that we can rely on. First you have to look at who you are then you will know what truths you will believe.
@br0nzepen I don't believe it is a cop out to place the responsibility of much of Cuba's suffering on the hostile behavior of the US and their influences over other countries. My beliefs are not based on lack of knowledge, selfishness, or blind allegiance to socialism. They are based on a knowledge that you disrespect.
@elizabethfaraone I don't disrespect your knowledge or belief's. I do question the sources, lack of evidence and hear say that the Cuban government is claiming. It is not hostile to ignore someone, that is all that the US is doing to Cuba and they are receiving food from the US. It is ignorant to say that the root of all your problems is based on one single country. That is the definition of a cop out.
@br0nzepen The US is not simply ignoring Cuba. The US has been extremely hostile and it has severely hurt the people of Cuba. To deny that is to lie. No one has ever said that the root of ALL of Cubas problems comes only from the US. Even Fidel doesn't say that. What is ignorance? To ignore. And regarding you comment on the great "cop out": Cubans have not failed to face difficulties squarely. They have been very strong.
@elizabethfaraone I see no evidence of the US being extremely hostile. The biggest lie is Cuba telling it's people that they are starving because of one nation. Fidel says it and his brother Raul continues the same lie. For them the US is the root of all their problems. Ignorance is not to ignore. Look up the definition. That's like saying - "What is an oxymoron? A moron."
I don't see a regime that starves it's people as being strong, just greedy, uncaring and evil.
@elizabethfaraone Let's say I right an article about the savior of Germany called Hitler. In my arcticle I only speak about how Hitler brought Germany out of the worst depression in the history of Germany after the 1st world war and how he united the Germany citizens to become a great country. In my arcticle I site examples, newspaper articles and pictures of all of his triumphs. Then end it with saying, In conclusion, Hitler was a savior of Germany. This is an example of a biased article
@br0nzepen I would agree that was an inaccurate article. I am well aware of inaccuracies in the analysis and recording of events. I grew up in the US in the 1960s and my teachers attempted to teach me from American history books that were inaccurate. Instead, I went to the public library (which I am grateful to have access to) and found books that I thought were more accurate and waited for books to be written that were more accurate. In the past 30 years, I have found great books.

It's sad.

Chill out people... Cuba could have benefited greatly and not have t spend so much for food if the embargo was not in place. And that may have allowed for their government to be a success in more ways than it is today. Not saying anything for or against, the embargo really played a large part in hurting the Cuban people. Fidel is Fidel, but does not our gov't sometimes ignore the poor and starving right here in the US?There is so much going on in this world, who can argue it one way or another...
ositomoose 1 year ago
@ositomoose The embargo has had no effect on cuba. Cuba trades and is supplied by the rest of the world. cuban government uses the embargo as a cop out to rape it's people and hordes all the goods for itself. It's good to be the king.
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@ositomoose No, the government does not ignore the poor and starving. where do you get your info? Ever heard of welfare. Every state has their own benefits for helping the poor. the key is if the individual wants the help or not. In cuba there are no such programs. You get a quota of food which is not enough to sustain anyone and that's it.
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@br0nzepen - You are just so wrong... THere are tons of Homeless people here in the US that need help aren't getting it . I see new people out on the street each week... You are really misinformed...or you live in the Country side.... I traveled throughout Cuba andI did not see one homeless person... I don't condone what is happening there... but I just want the record set straight. The embargo definitely had an effect on Cuba... If you don't believe that then you shouldn't be posting.
ositomoose 1 year ago

PS, I post what I damn feel.
brunettechocha 1 year ago
@brunettechocha You are not really getting my point but go on and feel what you feel.Yes, the Castros do business with the world.I'm just saying that if they were able to piggy back off the shipments to the US they would have gotten much better deals and there would have been a possibility for things to be better there. But that is only if the Castro Inc,as you put it were to share those returns with the people.I am not blind to what goes on there..nor here. They play a much worse game than ours.

Actually Castro and his revolution could not have been successful if not supported by the people. Or if the seperation of the Rich and the Poor had been so wide without the existence or a very little number of a Middle Class. The Middle Class which acts as a buffer between the two...
syntaur 2 years ago
well u cant say that... cuba is poor but you have to admit that the empire called USA has been trying hard in the last 50 years to bankrupt that little island. and before castro it was a small number of rich and a huge number of poor, starving, dying people. now, once again, its a small number of rich and a huge number of poor people but they have 2 things - excellent healthcare and good life expectancy (higher than that of the US).
in the end its +1 for castro...
DestroyerAlexandros 2 years ago

PACOPE3 2 years ago
I agree ,what happen before Castro regime ,was nothing compare what happen the last 50 years with Castro, totally destroy the cuban identity ,38 % of the cuban youth already left Cuba ,i don't count the rest of the cuban people, which is worse...

this your country and at the same time it's people like you that are responsible for its rapid degradation - people who are unaware of all the bullshit the authorities are doing and the self-destructive system.
If Cuba is so bad, why are americans going there to receive free medical attention? That's right, because the corporations have taken over american health care and have destroyed it
DestroyerAlexandros 2 years ago
Next time come with real facts no lies ,over 3 millions cubans left the country ,the medicals services those americans received are not the same the cuban people received ,and also are not free ,if you want to discuss with me come with trues not lies ,have a nice life !!
vg5157 2 years ago

No Americans are going to Cuba...what horse shit.
ehunter2 2 years ago
Actually, when I spent time in Cuba, I needed medical attention. I received better diagnostics for my condition than I had in New York City with the best doctors. I was treated in a clinic by doctors who treat Cubans. Spend a few months in Cuba, listen to the different opinions of Cubans, and experience it for yourself.
elizabethfaraone 2 years ago
Can I listen to the millions of Cubans who did anything to get out that hellhole?
Can I look at the photos of Cuba today..compared to 1959? Can I go to the real hospitals that real Cubans go to..the shit stained tin shacks where they might have a free aspirin if you are lucky? Or do I have to listen to the official line of propaganda to be enlightened like you?
ehunter2 2 years ago
You don't have to go to Cuba. Just talk to the many Cubans (exiles from the past and present) who are here......ooops......I forgot.......you hate immigrants who speak Spanish......especially humanitarian ones.......

A library is too high sidity for you!! I'm so tired of rebellion against what should be respected and desired. You're a low life conformist swimming in this financially rich country of ours that has no soul.
elizabethfaraone 2 years ago
Why am I a conformist? because I work my fingers to the bone to make money 46hrs a week, and then work on my business. Im so sick of the pretentious assholes in this country saying how other countries are "oh so fucking great", yet they wont leave here because they know The United States of America is the best nation in the world. This is the only damn country in the world where you can raise another nations flag on your property and no one questions it. SHAME on you liberal scum!
groenlink 1 year ago
If you're so happy to be living here, why are you so angry that you work your fingers to the bone. You seem to be the one pretending. And, by the way, many people do leave this country. Do a little research and you'll find out. You've obviously led a very limited life if you believe the US is the best place to live in the world. Victims come here from other parts of the world & some of the victimization is relieved, but not all of it. You are proof of that.
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
Believe me, with the non-exempt pay Im making I am not angry. What I am angry about is how liberals try to shove communism down our throats.

But I'm sure you've given birth to greedy children who's souls chose you.
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
wow, now this is turning into a name calling match with no facts(basically on your side). Trust me I play in an ice hockey league as well and have time to meditate and spend time with my family. So your whole argument is invalid. Bottom line is, if all these other countries are so great, then please do us all a favor and MOVE THE FUCK OUT.
groenlink 1 year ago
You would love that, wouldn't you. No, we progressives are here to stay. Republicans are evil and you won't be in power much longer. The majority have had it with you. You'll be the ones who'll want to move the fuck out when you've lost all of your power.
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone The only thing progressive about you is your HATE! It grows progressively worse with each comment. And you should beashamed of yourself for using that language.
rvalderas1 1 year ago
My hatred of careless thoughts and beliefs. Too many refuse to educate themselves and continue to confirm their corrupt beliefs by reading and watching popular media, instead of reading the hundreds of books and watching the countless movies and documentaries that have been made on the subject of Cuba. Until you have done so with a loving heart, you will continue to express destructive opinions.
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone You don't know me Elizabeth. You have know clue what I believe. I'm all about LOVE. I was just looking at Cuba today because I'm studying the Guaguanco' rhythm on the
Congas and I happened to catch your harsh remarks. If my remarks were destructive to as you said, well then I'm sorry. I believe you're more destructive to yourself though. The "F" bomb? Try opening up your loving heart. Christ said, "love your enemies." Be happy*
rvalderas1 1 year ago
I am not afraid to use the word "fuck." Did you read what my harsh remarks were in response to? To strongly condemn those who are responsible for incredible destruction is a strong part of loving. I will not be happy when my brothers and sisters suffer amputations without anesthesia in Haiti because priority is given to receiving the armed forces - and when my brothers and sisters in Cuba suffer under the embargo.
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone Suffer under the embargo?? Cuba trades and invests with the rest of the world. US is the only country that doesn't trade with Cuba, everyone else does. Cubans aren't suffering under the embargo, they are suffering under the regime that hordes all the resources for all the other countries investing in Cuba.
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@br0nzepen If you want to believe that the hostility towards Cuba has had no effect, argue it. But give me facts. Cuba amassed substantial debts owed to its Japanese, European, and Latin American trading partners acquired during the years of abundant Soviet aid. Their financial and social problems are complex. Start researching with a loving heart and open mind.
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone I just did argue it. Give me facts that the embargo has had any negative effect on Cuba. I have done my home work by going to the school of hard knocks. I have lived the segregation of the Cuban people versus the foreign tourists and nationals. No need for research when you have 1st hand experience. US has a substantially larger foreign debt then Cuba but the majority of the population is not starving. No research needed when the homework has already been done.
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@br0nzepen You stated it perfectly - you believe that you do not have to research anything and think deeply. And just because you have been a victim does not mean that you are not a victimizer. I am well aware of the hardships and human rights violations that the Cuban government is responsible for. I have been educated by "the school of the streets" and "the school of hard knocks. "
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone As you said, When it comes to human rights violations in Cuba, I don't need to research anything and think deeply. That's a no brainer. I see you agree on that. I have no idea about what your trying to say on the victimizer statement. Your sentence makes no sense.
But you are dodging my original inquiry. Give me facts that the embargo has had any effect on Cuba.
Also the term is streewise not "the school of the streets" no such term.
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@br0nzepen There IS an expression "school of the streets." But since you know it all, you will contradict this. You stated you have been a victim of Cuba's human rights violations. But I see you as a victimizer in many ways. One way is your competitive and condescending spirit. Another is your denial that US policies towards Cuba have not been destructive.
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone Umm, no there is no such term. Please provide proof.
If we all follow your logic and way of thinking then you are a victimizer as well since because of your competitive and condescending spirit. Another is your denial that the US policies towards Cuba has had NO effect on Cuba.
I have 1st hand experience of the vast resources in Cuba's hands from foreign trade that is not made available to the Cuban people by the current regime.
Your still avoiding my original question.
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@br0nzepen Beginning in 1992, the Cuban Democracy Act imposed a ban on subsidiary trade with Cuba. This ban has severely constrained Cuba's ability to import medicines and medical supplies from third country sources. Moreover, recent corporate buyouts and mergers between major U.S. and European pharmaceutical companies have further reduced the number of companies permitted to do business with Cuba.
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone Please site sources. This is communist propaganda. I work for a pharmaceutical company and I can tell you that there are alot of European, Russian, China and the rest of the world that are supplying Cuba with medicine and supplies. The US does not nor can it dictate who can and can't do business with Cuba outside their borders.
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@br0nzepen In March of 1997, the American Association for World Health wrote: the AAWH wishes to emphasize the stringent nature of the U.S. trade embargo against Cuba. Few other embargoes in recent history - including those targeting Iran, Libya, South Africa, Southern Rhodesia, Chile or Iraq - have included an outright ban on the sale of food. Few other embargoes have so restricted medical commerce as to deny the availability of life-saving medicines to ordinary citizens.
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone This is just not true. Ban is only for US markets. Not other countries. US is not the ruler of the world. They can't and don't dictate who or what other countries can sell to Cuba.
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@br0nzepen When I visited the island of Dominica in the early 1990s, a government official told me that the US instructed them not to send their students to Cuba for medical training. This was something he just happened to tell me as we were discussing the medical system in Dominica. I'm trying to post a website I want you to read, but YouTube is not permitting me to post it. Why is that? Am I doing something wrong?
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone it won't allow you. Just give me the article name and I will google it.
You have to ask your Dominica official what agreement they signed with the US. Maybe it was this for that and they can't trade with Cuba. If the government Dominica signed the agreement then they have no one to blame but themselves. This is politics 101.

@br0nzepen Google: Denial of Food and Medicine The Impact Of The U.S. Embargo On The Health And Nutrition In Cuba An Executive Summary
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone OK, I read the articles. Now I want you to be objective and take a step back and ask yourself this simple question. What are the sources for these articles? They both traveled to Cuba and visited and witnessed the decrepit state of affairs in the clinics and hospitals. Now remember, these are hospitals for Cuban citizens not foreign nationals or tourist. Those are immaculate and abundant in medical supplies. to be continued.....
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@br0nzepen I sent you the article because I agree with it. You and I simply have different points of view. I think the sources cited within the article and in the footnotes are valid sources. There is no indication in the article that the writer relied completely on Cuban government reports to draw his analysis and conclusions. To the contrary - he relied upon his own research - research of US government records - research of US laws - research of Cuba's history.
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone it's biased. In an unbiased report you have both sides of the argument with supporting claims. The reader them makes a decision on which side to support. This article only talks about the "evil" of the US but does not talk about the aid the US has given to Cuba in terms of food and resources. Let me give you an example... to be continued.
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@br0nzepen The writer of this article has never once said that the Castro regime is a good regime. If I were writing the article, I would write it in the same way. He is simply documenting how US policies have hurt the citizens of Cuba. I am aware of the wrongs of both Cuba and the US. There have been articles, books and documentaries made that specifically address the wrongs of the Castro regime. I have read them and I agree with many of them.
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone But it's biased. It does not show any opposing views. Only sites resources to support it's claim. I always ask, "But what is the counter point." Like you I do my own research but in this case I have lived it and I know it not to be true.
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@br0nzepen You don't have to show opposing views. If I hurt someone, I am guilty of hurting someone. There is no opposing view. You can fabricate opposing views if you think it is necessary to present an opposing view. Every excuse in the book can be made. The Castro regime and the US government have both done harm and both need to stop.
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone Ah but then the question is, what is the truth? That's why you make opposing views and then make a choice on what you want to believe based on the evidence provided. One country cannot be the sole problems of another country. That is a cop out and illogical. Makes no sense. When the rest of the world is supporting you.
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@br0nzepen You can only make a choice on what you believe if you are truly informed, and that takes a lot of research, not only life experience, though life experience is a part of it. For the most part, I trust the choices of the humanitarian and completely distrust the choices of opportunists. That doesn't mean that I don't get information from the opportunists, because they're very good at revealing the truths about one another and about the mistakes that are made even by the well intentioned
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone I don't trust either. Unfortunately, in today's world. the majority of the human race is opportunistic. Hence, the state of the world that we live in today. Life experience is by most part the only source of truth that we can rely on. First you have to look at who you are then you will know what truths you will believe.
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@br0nzepen I don't believe it is a cop out to place the responsibility of much of Cuba's suffering on the hostile behavior of the US and their influences over other countries. My beliefs are not based on lack of knowledge, selfishness, or blind allegiance to socialism. They are based on a knowledge that you disrespect.
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone I don't disrespect your knowledge or belief's. I do question the sources, lack of evidence and hear say that the Cuban government is claiming. It is not hostile to ignore someone, that is all that the US is doing to Cuba and they are receiving food from the US. It is ignorant to say that the root of all your problems is based on one single country. That is the definition of a cop out.
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@br0nzepen The US is not simply ignoring Cuba. The US has been extremely hostile and it has severely hurt the people of Cuba. To deny that is to lie. No one has ever said that the root of ALL of Cubas problems comes only from the US. Even Fidel doesn't say that. What is ignorance? To ignore. And regarding you comment on the great "cop out": Cubans have not failed to face difficulties squarely. They have been very strong.
elizabethfaraone 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone I see no evidence of the US being extremely hostile. The biggest lie is Cuba telling it's people that they are starving because of one nation. Fidel says it and his brother Raul continues the same lie. For them the US is the root of all their problems. Ignorance is not to ignore. Look up the definition. That's like saying - "What is an oxymoron? A moron."
I don't see a regime that starves it's people as being strong, just greedy, uncaring and evil.
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@elizabethfaraone Let's say I right an article about the savior of Germany called Hitler. In my arcticle I only speak about how Hitler brought Germany out of the worst depression in the history of Germany after the 1st world war and how he united the Germany citizens to become a great country. In my arcticle I site examples, newspaper articles and pictures of all of his triumphs. Then end it with saying, In conclusion, Hitler was a savior of Germany. This is an example of a biased article
br0nzepen 1 year ago
@br0nzepen I would agree that was an inaccurate article. I am well aware of inaccuracies in the analysis and recording of events. I grew up in the US in the 1960s and my teachers attempted to teach me from American history books that were inaccurate. Instead, I went to the public library (which I am grateful to have access to) and found books that I thought were more accurate and waited for books to be written that were more accurate. In the past 30 years, I have found great books.
