Nice job. I did something similar when I was in technical univercity 10 years ago. I have thought about expanding mine to 16 notes - you can stack two or more 4017's to get a longer sequence.

why do you use 10 steps instead of 8, 12 or 16, which would fit better for music?

@KrassesZeug Because its a Baby 10 Sequencer, it has 10 outputs. But sure, 8 works but this is cooler. =)

Just build your self an APC and you'll have a fat square wave for your sequencer...
