Pekiti Tirsia is now the Official Fighting system of the Entire Military of the Philippines. At a Gaje Seminar i was present when a U.S. Doce Pares Fighter(trained in Philippines)stood up and announced his Grand Master had sent him to Learn From Gaje. He was told there is none better if he wants advanced knife. I agree

For your information, most Filipino masters don't like each other or get along... that's why there was so much in-fighting amongst them. If you've seen "eskrimadors," even GM Dionisio Canete confessed that the DP club was plagued with jealousies. Students would go around sayin "my master's style is better than your master's..."

Tom Bisio of PTK won as grandchampion in the first eskrima tournament in Cebu and he only had 3 years training at the time, versus doce pares fighters with 15+ years experience (and the committee wouldn't grant him as sole grandchampion 'cause he's american. They made the 2nd place doce pares guy co-champion). Momoy Canete even stood in Tom Bisio's and Leo Gaje's corner. GM Canete was already a legend in his local region, not before or after GM Illustrisimo.

btw, the dog brothers gatherings have been dominated by PTK fighters for decades. PTK was instrumental to the dog brothers due to Eric "Top Dog" Knaus and Phil "Sled Dog" Gelinas along with other kali/eskrima styles ("Crafty Dog" Denny is lameco kali). Name one well known doce pares fighter that stepped into the pit at DB and hold his own - not one. No disrespect to Doce pares, but it's ignorant to claim this style is better than that style... it's the fighter that makes the style work for him.

does it matter if they don't agree with each other? Think about it. If you do PTK or DTK, does it matter to you if your GMs don't like each other? Will it affect the way you train and appreciate your study of either system? This is a personal matter between the two. The students of both systems should stay away from the politics and just train.

Yes, we see exactly who the real authority is by who communicates - GT Gaje. Nene: "it's okay", "the same", "the same also".

This was one of the early efforts by GT Gaje to promote Nene so he could have some name recognition outside of Bacolod City. Before this he had none. Period.

I'm curious, I was once shown a check that a certain (Kali) Tim BOUNCED on "Nene" Tortal for training recieved (then referred to as Pekiti). It's very hard to fight for insufficient funds in the Philippines so you have to trust in someones honor that you will be paid. It's easy to PEKIT, or CLOSE your eyes to your obligations. (This isn't that same Tim is it?)

I've seen and have many official documents that illustrate this point. Someone has been bringing this to my attention. I am seeing a pattern of deceit. Again, HONOR!

If you are viewing these instructors for the first time, let me encourage you to pursue them further. Both their systems are incredibly valuable...probably more than any others, and my bet is that their strengths come from the influence they had on one another.

Leo admits Nene Tortal is the better one with the techniques and the better trainor.

This is a sharp contradition to what he is saying now.
