  • i like the kid's death ray better. his is homemade AND better

they see me trollin, they hatin

  • what is the diameter of this parabolic dish?

  • i felt hungry looking at the sausage.

  • why use such huge parabolic, when you can have the same effect using a glass lens. u need thousands of tiny mirrows like that kid with the death ray

  • @pecfree it would be extremely expensive to make a lens with the same concentrating power.. the concentration is directly proportional to the area of light captured or the diameter of the dish/lens. there is some losses due to the imperfect reflective nature of the mylar and the less than perfect surface of the dish but the aim of this project is to boil water not to have all the light at one point.

  • Try put ur hand in there for 1 sec :D

  • lol u might want to scan that hot dog for radiation

  • the hotdog are contamitated by a ultraviolet ray. or maybe it is radio active haha. .. joke

  • That looks sweet! I want to make one of these out of an old 7' dish that a neighbor is getting rid of. I have a few questions:

How did you mount the mylar?

    Thickness of mylar?

Would appreciate any tips as this could save me a lot of time and $'s

  • @LeopardJeff thanks for the comment for some reason youtube has not let me post a reply

  • the mylar we bought from .wallliner(dot)com/contactpaper.html we cut it into about 4 inch strips and used a credit card to put it on. the dish was fiberglass and we sanded it down a bit before we put it on. you cant tell in the video but it is mounted on a 2axis solar tracker. we bought the sensor and motor driver from heliotrack(dot)com
