  • Well actually all the 3 door golf's we get in Australia are made in WOLFSBERG (GERMANY) and all the 5 Door are made in S.Africa. I would only buy a german made golf, because of the construction concerns of the new plant.

  • when did this turn to talking about the golf/rabbit in particular? i was talking about entire COMPANIES here not one single car from one single manufacturer, if you can't grasp that concept... the sad thing is, you call yourself an ignorant cunt by flat out saying my point, that there is no such thing as a manufacturer only making cars in their home country. i'm not exactly sure why you posted that since we agree?

  • American cars suck ass. Lets be honest here. Americans only use out dated technology that they steal off Europe and Japan and even Australia. (Pontiac GTO-Really Holden Monaro re-badged for yank market). How many yank tanks are sold outside of u.s? Bugger all! The americans may have had their hay day in the early 70's, what the hell have they been doing for quater of a century? Americans and their shit boxes are laughed at the world over!   • there is no such thing as one country having better cars anymore. for example, i work with cars on a daily basis (VW) and if you look at where they are manufactured few are actually manufactured (even partially) in Germany. Parts come from America, other from Japan, others from Germany, or Hungary or Poland etc. The designers aren't even in one country anymore. Ford has some in Europe and some in America. Honda has some in Japan and some in America, etc. Your statement is completely ignorant.

  • yes thank you, if i didn't know what it was i wouldn't make the point. by the way, the whole "american" cars are crap thing... umm look at the initial quality reports, ford is in a dead heat with toyota and nissan.

    oh and the place where GM (and ford to a lesser extent) is being saved right now (they still lost a couple million in the US) is OVERSEAS. so unless there is a mass conspiracy going on, somebody's point that no one outside the US likes "american" cars is... wrong.

  • haha i've actually driven on european streets as I've lived there for over a year in my life (in increments though, and i had my cousin's honda- awesome care BTW). Opel is owned by GM though which helps sales overseas too. Buick is doing amazingly well in china for some reason... anyway, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. :)

  • I literally couldnt care any less about what American cars did in the 1970s. The fact is that today, now, Japanese and European manufacturers have far surpassed any American car ever made and will for the next million billion years. Golf rules.

  • Your such a dumbass if you think American Cars suck. The 1970's American cars changed the car world. However there is no nation that makes the "best" cars. I love the golf gti and other German cars, However American cars are FARRRRR from suck.

  • Golfs (especially the MkIV and MkV GTI designs) are works of art, and most certainly NOT boring, given their award winning motors (1.8T, 24V VR6, and the 2.0 FST Turbo) and legendary pedigree (Rabbit, original Mk1 GTI). Your Alfa 156 looks like balls!
