@Fantaisyman Sorry, that is NOT Miriam Stockley singing. With respect, this singer is not a patch on Ms Stockley's talent. Nor is that Mary Carewe This was performed after Miriam left the group.
I cant stop imagining meditating scenaries and amazing places when i hear it..And peace and all people in the world knowing each other..A life that seems a dream but would easily become true with faith in ourselves..Love this song trully meditating,NO WORDS
There is no version of Enya existing. I don't know so many miscredit it to her, she's not even mentioned in the wiki articles about the Adiemus project or the album this song was featured on.
this may sound silly, but i hope those were real words so i could enjoy the beauty of what they're saying.. this song is happiness, sorrow, peace, and war, all blended beautifully into one master piece..
karl jenkins has a cracking moustache =] and i've sung for him in the albert hall for his world premiere of Gloria. he's a fantastic man and loves what he does, and you can just sing well for him, he's so friendly and welcomming
Makes me want to put on my flowy gowns and gypsy jewelry and flowers in my hair and go and dance in the full moon light with the fireflies and faeries..well, you get my meaning.
My wife and I took a scenic tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters in 2009 when we visited Kauai, Hawaii. As our helicopter reached the Napali Coast with it's spectacular cliffs and deep valleys, this song filled the headsets. This amazing song perfectly matched the spectacular scenery as we flew along the sheer cliff faces and across the blue water. It was something we will never forget.

Adiemus (pronounced /ædiˈeɪməs/) is the title of a series of albums by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins. It is also the title of the opening track on the first album in the series, Songs of Sanctuary. The lead vocal is Miriam Stockley from South Africa.
The music is often wrongly credited to the Irish singer Enya. She never performed in original or any other cover version. There are no lyrics as such: instead the vocalists sing syllables and 'words' invented by Jenkins.
That's not the Navi's language ! Or James Cameron has taken it to his film after listenning to Adiemus ! Adiemus existed long time before Avatar. It's a mix of latin and totally invented language, and even if it means nothing at the origin, it sounds wonderful.
It is an epic melody. Fact is tha tif it was using actual latin as language it would kinda make it already 2000 years old. Still it will not fade away like a temporary hit. This music is forever
There is one word in the lyrics that's Latin. Natus, which means born. Kind of spreads the imagination of what the other words could mean. Even if it is a fake language, it's still fun. Not that it matters of course because it is such an awesome song.
Not trying to get high with thumbs, but I wonder who voted dislike here... This form of music is unique in this world and the feeling it gives really tattoos my heart!
@MyEbr- this is a live performance at the proms in the Netherlands in 2002? The lead singer is Karen Melis, a local, and the backup is Hille Bemelmans. Miriam Stockley and Mary Carewe are the lead singers in most of the Adiemus recordings
@seuruso no its not u idiot! im mexican i should know, my choir teacher even told us that the composer just made up the words they dont mean anything. were singing it for choir so i know.
Absolutely amazing with the candles and everything, to be honest it brought tears into my eyes. Maybe it's so effective because there are no sensible lyrics so the listener can really consentrate on the powerful sound world and the feeling of the song. Amazing.
@paavi2005 IMHO, you have discovered the "secret" to listening to a song in any language....All you have to do is listen to the beat, even if you don't understand the lyrics :-)
Stupid question before I go completely insane. Who is the lead singer? I can clearly see that she is blonde but other than that am clueless. I see that Miriam Stockley is listed to be the lead but the person on that stage is clearly not her. Now I think Mary Carewe is the the leads right. Now I thought at first it could have been Katherine Jenkins but the faces don't match. If you know please let me know.
This song will forever have a special place in my life- I had the honor to sing this song twice in my lifetime, once for my late mother who battled kidney failure and the second time for my best friend who was killed in Afghanistan a couple of months ago.... and everytime I hear it I just cry and wish to see them again...FOREVER THEY WILL BE MISSED
The language they use is not an ordinary one, but Jenkins created it just because it sounds good. He uses the voice as a kind of an instrument. Simply great!!!
