@HuntressRoxx Back in the day Artists were often contractually bound to reproduce performances just like their record because audiences demanded it. Easiest was to do this was to mime to pre-recorded backing tracks.

Vocal lip syncing made is easier for TV broadcasters. No need to set up equipment and mix audio live, no sound fold-back or feedback issues etc.

Anyway, Juice was a cracker. She'd blow you away singing this song live no problems.

I think most people from the 50's through the 90s love this kind of music because it is truly musical: there's good instruments playing, good and reflective/introspective lyrics. Both Blacks & Whites loved the music; both groups played it, even though each group preferred a slightly "soulful" musical dialect to it.

Try listening to the Platters doing UNCHAINED MELODY or Lionel Richie's many soulful songs, with exceptional music.

@pabanil it depends on where a person is born or how they were raised or by whom. without realizing it, you were exposed at very early age to this type of music. so you learn to love it. most kids at very early age start hearing music by Britney, Beyonce, etc maybe on t.v., or stereo played by older brother/sister. these days parents also don't have time to raise kids properly with good values so kids pick up a lot of bad habits from their friends and from watching t.v.
