  • They look like they are having fun!

  • Why would anyone think the soloists are trying to "out wail" Ella, or anyone else?

Isn't it all about music, and making as much out of it as possible?

    They all are superb.

  • sopra di loro,solo gli...Dei!!

  • I know that bone didn't think he could out wail The first lady of song. lolol

  • This is juke joint. I can imagine back in the day Basie, Ella and others hanging out after hours eating greasy friend chicken throwing back cheap liquor and jamming the blues. Wow..

  • hêy_î_feËl_sÔ_loÑÉly_tODãý

I probably wouldn't even have heard of Ella and Basie without it. What a sad life I would have led.

  • The Greatest!

Ella and Basie....we could never thank them enough.

Keter Betts and Mickey Roker, bass & drums.

  • this is so good

  • two of the nicest specimens of our type.

just look at them...ya know ya can tell.

...i dont care what the song is called.....dat was CB!

  • Thats not Harold Jones on drums, if this was 1979 it probably was Mickey Roker. Butch Miles left the band earlier in 79 and i think Mickey took over after.

  • absolument monumental !...

  • I was there with my dad!!!!!Now he passed away and I say thank to my dad for this wonderful moment that we have spend toghether......and the passion for jazz music

  • @bebop62

    Pure passion!!!

  • Is that the great Harold Jones on drums, does anyone know?

  • the name of this song is BASELLA not Booty's Blues

  • Ella sums it up when she says the one and only Count Basie . What a marvellous rendition of a twelve bar blues by Ella ably supported by sax and trombone solos.

    It sets your feet tapping.

  • amazing. just amazing. Thank you SO MUCH for posting.

  • This was a fantastic concert. A real classic. I love Booty Wood.

  • the walking bassline is pure awesomeness....

  • and let's not forget COOTIE WILLIAMS!

  • When Ella said ''yeah'' on the beginning I already went like ''ow yeah you go girl!''.

The Count always makes my head bop alright.

  • this is like perfection times two. ella and count basie. this is borderline ridiculous. so amazing.

  • The Greatest!

  • This music is off the hook...no one does this anymore.....what a marvelous style!

  • I saw Fitzgerald about a year after this when she did a concert in St. Petersburg, FL and was absolutely blown away. What a singer! I had already seen the Basie Orchestra at Chautaqua, NY a few years earlier. Similar reaction. I feel so lucky to have seen some of the greatest musicians of the 20th century alive and kicking . . .

  • I adored Ella! We'll never see anything quite like this, ever again.

  • Yea, that's alright!

  • Godess!!!!

  • Wonderful Ella and fabulous Count Basie !

  • I like how she uses her hands and mimics the bone!

  • cool! this is my favourite type of music yet i know nothing about it really.. anyone recomend artists i should look up or albums i should buy?

  • you should listen to peggy lee, lena horne, dean martin, sarah vaughan, melody gardot, billie holiday, diana krall, duke ellington, miles davis, frank sinatra, nina simone, perry como, etc

  • OMG......What aperformance of two of the greatest that ever lived!

  • i have to listen to this wonderful woman once a day at least and then i can start my day

  • Booty Wood

  • I was there!!!! Thanks to give this wonderful moment....

  • They are having so much fun!

  • A most incredible group of musicians. God bless them all.

  • Swinging music.

  • Basie and Ella en mi sugerencia nunca volveremos a ver algo de esta magnitud.

  • god bless them indeed

  • The never come back

  • It ain't got that thing, if it ain't got that swing! This is how music should sound! Nobody does it better than Miss Ella and The Count! God bless their souls. :)

  • i can't believe howmuch the guitar player swings!!!!!!!!!

  • Simply wonderful! Thanks for posting.

  • she ends on the 13 and slides down to the maj 7. How sick?! Who thinks of that? Nobody will EVER!!! top Miss Ella.

  • @Djchilds08 I'm not taking credit for myself and away from Ella. But haven't you heard that before? Haven't you done that..

  • Comment removed

  • @Djchilds08 I agree with you she was amazing - but many people think of that

  • Comment removed

  • @95Galante yes, tis true. But because people like Miss Ella paved the way!

  • @Djchilds08 Ah Toshay.....

  • Ella Sings! Count Basie Swings! What else is there to say. I going to even try to rip off some of Botty's solo. The whole songs great. Thanks zhanges5

  • think its eric gibson, she says his name at 2.50

  • Found it. Its Eric Dixon. He's been in the Count Basie band for a long time. He's got a beautiful sound! Guess he's one of the unsung tenor masters.

  • Beautiful, what a groove people!

  • fitzgerald uses the head from C jam blues in her solo, but basie's intro is that of booty's blues. man, this is real real jazz, deep grooves

  • Hey guys!

    Listen...that's actually not the C-Jam Blues...it's Booty's Blues for sure...but it's freakin' awesome! :D

  • amen its booty's blues. ella sings, basie swings, a dam fine slow burn

  • go ella!!!

  • QUELLE ANNEE CETTE VID

  • WOW at 7:39!! simply Ella!!!! she has the best jazz musicality

  • I wonder if she knew how great she was. She always seems so humble almost schoolgirl like.

  • I once escorted the great Ella from a symphony stage to her dressing room, and eventually found myself sitting next to her while she patiently and graciously greeted her fans and signed autographs. She seemed genuinely humble. The Greatest!

  • All great musicians should humble. Being humble means knowing you are great, but realizing that your not the best, and could always be better.

  • So true johnroland, the greats like Ella and Count Basie were so COOL, so grounded and humble in spirit by comparison to a lot of the arrogant, shallow and talent-shy showbiz types in our midst today who are always acting out and boasting of their "greatness".

The great talents never have to boast, because imperfections and all, their talent always shows.

  • Every day I look one time. And then I'm so happy!

  • The never come back

  • we will never have another ella in this century..wont expect on the next...

  • Ella Rules man!!!!!

  • El jazz esta vivisimo, gracias.

  • Hell yeah, what a song!But it isn't the c-jam blues :) it's called Booty's blues...

  • My favorite!!

  • YES-She had spontaneity, and articulate phrasing. HER VOICE WAS/IS AN INSTRUMENT,[all its own ]and you aint gonna find it or buy it anywhere-"LOVE TO ELLA"

  • You are watching genius!

  • two of the greats

  • Together with Ella!!!!

  • LOL Count Basie owns!
