  • Yes, prednisone, a type of cortisone can contribute to yeast overgrowth.

  • Did you say that prednisone contributes to yeast overgrowth?

  • A foul body odor could relate to Candida or other unfriendly organisms in your system. Mainly it indicates to me that your body detoxification systems are not working well. Whether it's Candida or another underlying problem, applying basic detoxification measures can help. You might want to check my web site drjomd for more information.

  • HI, I think I might have candida and for some reason my body produces a fecal odor. The odor is so bad that it can stink up a whole room in seconds. Does this mean that I have severe candida?

  • Holla! Have you considered - fast abs magic (should be on google have a look)? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my cousin got great Six pack abs and lost a ton of weight with it.

  • you're really nice!!

  • @PinkOwl16 Thanks!

  • One raw garlic per day to cure Candida - thanks for the tip. It might work with light cases of Candida and be an additional approach to more difficult cases.

  • One raw garlic clove a day will cure candida. Chop up the garlic in small pieces, down it with water.

  • For your own sake, please, please don't follow this diet!! You can't "starve out the yeast", that is idiotic! It made my yeast infection much worse. It turns out that stress was the problem, not some hokey cure-all disease. The reason people might feel a little better on this diet is because most Americans eat junk. I don't believe any diet that says you can't eat fruit. Fruit is the best thing humans can possibly eat. We've been eating it since we were little primates in the trees.

  • @waterbottle Sorry you feel this way water bottle. Sounds like your problem was more related to de-stressing and congratulations on finding the answers for yourself. Also remember that we recommend avoiding fruit on this Get Healthy Eating Plan for only 4-8 weeks to let blood sugar swings settle down, taking the stress off the glands and to help balance the organisms in the gut. This eating program is based on scientific nutritional research and lots of successful clinical experience. Dr. Jo

  • @waterbottle yo the Dr is right here....I LOVE fruit too, more than anything really, but 86'ing of fruit is TEMPORARY, not permanent. Follow science, not dogma.

    Peace

  • @waterbottle

Right on. Fruit is the natural food of humans.

  • dr,Jo did u read anything by dr.Ray Peat? he's got tottaly different ideas about candida managment..

  • @SaturatedFatsLover I seem to remember his name but not his ideas on candida. Can you refer me to any of his information.

    Thanks,

    Dr. Jo

  • Glad that you like it.

  • great vid. thank you!!!

  • Why cant she just tell me the class A foods and get a day job, or even re-title the video so i dont waste my time

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Every video, completely every video that has someone who wants to help is advertising for themselves... Thumbs down.. Not one bit helpful to learn about a book.

  • did you get allergys as an adult? i developed allergys and i think its crazy i never had allergys before.

  • @nightgangl7 Folks can develop allergies at any time of life. The better we take care of ourselves, the less bothersome the allergies. I've had some mild allergies most of my life - but developed a lot of food allergies after the Candida yeast flared in my system - much better now though with a lot of healthy rebuilding work.

  • @wisedrjo I have food allergies all of a sudden. Never had any before. I'm trying to do the candida diet and herbal supplements and i'm praying it works because i'm so sick of not being able to eat with my friends and family.

  • @ass2mouthallday Food allergies can limit us a lot! Mine have greatly decreased since taking care of the yeast overgrowth and detoxifying the toxic chemicals and metals. You're on the right track, be encouraged. Also, in a way my food allergies were a blessing to me - got me off the junk food and I am a lot healthier in the long run. Dr. Jo

  • @nightgangl7 liver cleansing gets rid of allergies at any age. look up "Remove Gallstones the natural way / Gallensteine auf natürliche Weise entfernen" by Theguru2u channel on youtube. Be persistent with it. i have done 3 so far and 80% of my adult onset allergies are gone. i did the first 3 every 2 weeks ... it is a little tiring to go thru but worth it, now i will do 1 per month till all gallstones are out. there are also liver healing herbs at your health food store. good luck

  • Is the saliva test accurate?

    If so... (youtube heading) watch?v=zTwpSbuid0A

Does my saliva indicate anything? It looks like cobwebs suspended and it formed as soon as I spit in the glass.

I prepared by brushing my teeth last night and when I woke up the first thing I did was spit in the glass- the spit was just gathered from my cheeks not my throat.

P.S. I'm also BeyondBracelets (but this is my old account) I didn't want the post on my artsy account. It's sort of gross and all... thanks...

  • @BeyondBracelets Sorry I can't help you with this question as I know nohing about this spit test.

  • Hey Doc! Thanks for posting this video. I am going to purchase your book. Do they test for candida and gluten intolerance the same way using the anti-glaiden test? I was recently diagnosed with gluten intolerance and I haven't improved on a gluten free diet. I believe that I have candida due to an antibiotic I took 9 months ago. If this is the case, do you think that yeast overgrowth is causing the problem for my new gluten intolerance and food allergies? Thanks Doc!

  • @sk8erboob Thanks. Testing for gluten intolerance is completely different than testing for Candida, which does not have a specific test. I explain the methods of testing for Candida in the ebook that I am writing which will be completed soon I hope. Gluten intolerance and food allergies have certainly been linked to yeast overgrowth, but may have other causes too.

  • I have really bad dandruff/itching on my scalp and while looking for an answer I found the word "Candidiasis" and looked it up since I had never heard of it before.

Basically, my symptoms have been progressively getting worse. I'm unable to eat without feeling ill (even lettuce upsets me) and I notice lately my stomach has begun to burn and bowel movements smell like I'm not digesting things- not to mention fatigue, severe muscle pains and the inability to sleep. I think I may have this...

  • @BeyondBracelets Scalp dandruff/itching may relate to deficiency of good oils.Omega 3 oils seem to nourish the skin, nails and scalp, especially flaxseed oil. Some people have to take 1-2 tablespoons per day to replenish their system. Remember it takes 3 months to "do a complete oil change in the body."

As to the Candidiasis - it's more than I can write about here. I am in the process of writing an e-book on Overcoming Yeast Infection and hope to have it completed soon.

  • @wisedrjo I looked up the symptoms of candidiasis and have every single one- and to top it off I am immuno-compromised since I do have an autoimmune disease (Hashimoto's Thyroiditis) so I'm wondering if this is my missing link. I was thinking fibromyalgia since I feel 90 at age 23 but now this seems to fit more. My entire body is itchy all the time, along with my vision and mental state deteriorating... everything fits. Even with symptom lists my doctors just brush me off... it's frustrating.

  • @BeyondBracelets Finding out more about candidiasis is certainly worth pursuing. Doctors not understanding is quite frustrating - I explain how that happens in the ebook I'm writing.

In the mean time you might find a doctor to help you and other info at Yeast Connection on the web

  • @wisedrjo Thank you. <3

  • Freedy, if you had Candida you would probably really appreciate this cookbook. The eating plan in it saved my life. I'm sorry that what I said came across as selling. Believe me I have not made money on it.

    Blessings to you,

    Dr. Jo

  • We are so lucky to suffer with candida we can all write cookbooks and sell it lets

start sharing info with each other instead of trying to make a fast buck out of those who suffer.

  • @freddynetwerk Give it a rest. Do you work at a job for free? Seriously... DO YOU?

  • you make candida diet sound so much fun! :-)

  • @VenusAsABoyFilms Yes, it is fun! I still eat this way all of the time, but have added fruit and nuts back into my diet.

  • brilliant video, im suffering with candida and have no idea on how to banish it, my doc simply said cut out sugar, she was very vague!!, i have found this post very useeful and will be looking inti getting the cookbook, great work x

  • @vixster24 Most doctors don't know how to deal with Candida problems - good for you. D your research and you can do a lot for yourself.

    Dr. Jo

  • how do you diagnose candida?

  • @cc428 @cc428 Good question. Diagnosing Candida is not easy. Some signs include vaginal itch and discharge, bowel problems, brain fog, recurrent infections. Doctors can see yeast in the vaginal discharge by making a slide of the secretions. Elevated blood Candida antibody tests can be indicative of yeast overgrowth. You really need to read a good book on Candida or yeast to find out more.

  • @cc428 Thanks for your compliments. Diagnosing Candida is not easy by laboratory testing. Mainly we diagnose by symptoms. Also the Candida questionaire helps a lot. You can find it in Dr. Crook's book on Candida. Most of the things you do to get rid of Candida are healthy things that you need to do for yourself anyway.

  • @cc428 ..iv recently had yeast infection. And im still in the process of getting rid of it.

As a female, i found that it burns ALOT, and you tend to get really sore and itchy. But mainly burning. I had a yeast infection about a month ago, it wasnt as bad as it is now. But the doctor gave me some anti biotics, wich cleared it up.. but in the past week its come back. Iv taken tablets and used creams to try and get rid of it, but its not helping. Infact, tomorrow im going to the doctors,

  • @SophiezAwsome Hope you have your Candida under control by now.

  • @cc428 yet again to try and get rid of it. In the past week, iv been to the doctors 4 times because its burning so much :( However, i am aware, that even though medication can be given to help get rid of it, medication can also encourage it. Which in my case, the medication has encouraged it. I just dont know what to do :( i only hope that this "thing" goes once and for all after i see the doctors :'(

  • @SophiezAwsome If a person has yeast overgrowth in one area of her body, she most likely has a reservoir of yeast overgrowth in the intestines. So restoring the normal balance of organisms can be very helpful. Eating from a food plan that feeds the person and not the yeast and taking probiotics (lactobacilli - friendly organisms) can be quite helpful.

  • @wisedrjo thanks for the advice :) after many visits to the same doctor who kept on giving me pill for thrush, turns out i diddnt have thrust at all. I went to a different doctor and turns out it was a very bad water infection It burned REALLY bad :( but, now i find that the burning goes away.. but sometimes, it does burn for a little while, then goes after an hour or two :( the doctors put me on these pills for 14 days, it seems to be getting better :( but, not fully? if you get what i mean :(

  • @SophiezAwsome Glad that your finding help for your problem.

  • @cc428 You can do a simple siliva test at home for free.

Dr Dolittle just wants you to buy her book!! money money money!

She wants the latest Mercedes probably. Save your money!

  • you look and sound sooooooooooooooooo sweet

  • Hi Jo. Nice video, i need to know how to get a copy of this. I live in the UK, and i just can't seem to find the resources to implement my anti-candida diet. You seem very well informed and i feel i can trust your judgment on the subject. Do you ship to the UK? :(

  • @AlphaOmegatr0n Yes, I do.

  • Thanks so much for those kind words.

  • I love you Dr. Jo! You're an amazing, smart, intelligent, good woman!

  • @XforeverlongingX i reli need help i have MANY YEAST INFECTIONS one scalp eczema r something yellowish sustance on my scalp RELI BAD resulting hair loss al developed on 2 years of antibiotic and carb supp.iv taking probiotics and 6mg of allicin garlic no improvement in scalp defo in the othersim actually suicidal over the hair loss

  • @TheTomtomtim why don't you try some oregano oil in your shampoo. Oregano oil has antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, anti-microbial, and antiseptic properties. Also if you have candida and want to be help you should try Bee's candida diet, just google "Healing naturally by Bee." Hope it is helpful.

  • i reli need help i have MANY YEAST INFECTIONS one scalp eczema r something yellowish sustance on my scalp RELI BAD resulting hair loss al developed on 2 years of antibiotic and carb supp.iv taking probiotics and 6mg of allicin garlic no improvement in scalp defo in the othersim actually suicidal over the hair loss

  • immmm

  • I have strong sugar cravings 2 weeks before my menses along with irritating vaginitis. I think that I have a candida problem with food allergies because as soon as I eat sugary starchy foods 2 wks. before menses, the vaginitis & itching is so bad, that I no longer can tolerate it. Im looking for a simple candida with little ingredients because Im a busy mom. Any suggestions?

  • @kalkeikuu Google "Healing naturally by Bee", she would be able to help you.

  • @Yunhoholicable - I tried Bee's "diet plan" for a year and it made me sick and gave me kidney stones!! I am now on a (mostly) raw food diet, and have NEVER felt better. Bee is complete incorrect in so many areas... especially that we are all the same. I think it is just the contrary...we are all so different and that one type of diet is not ok for everyone. Dr. Mercola is correct in his body typing. My own intuition also lead me to this conclusion.

  • @ccavancookie I agree, each person needs to find the eating plan that works well for her uniquely-you body.

  • @kalkeikuu Dr. Jo's Natural Healing Cookbook works realy well for a Candida diet.

  • @wisedrjo Thanks for the confirmation. You are a real encourgaement to others.

  • I just bought the updated book, its seems great but i have a few questions. Radish i love them are the class a ? Also bragg liquid amenos are used in your book, can i use this to season my class A recipes ? Would being on 3 lac also help speed up the process ? You list brown rice as a class a food is it basmati rice ? other people list this as a no no when starving the yeast and also a no no is potatos ? any thoughts ?

  • Yes, radish is class A and you can use Bragg's Liquid Aminos to season the class A food as long as you personally tolerate it. Since it's derived from soy, people who are soy-sensitive may not tolerate it.

It's good to include normal healthy bacteria like the Lactobacilli in your supplements to repopulate the bowel, so 3 lac would be helpful.

  • The heavier carbohydrates like basmati rice and potatoes may feed the yeast. Avoid Russet potatoes, but new red or white potatoes in small amounts are ok since only about 1/2 cup are recommended on the Get Healthy Eating Plan in Dr. Jo's Natural Healing Cookbook.

  • i wonder if buckwheat flour made into pancakes, or brown rice is ok?

  • In small amounts, like one small pancake with lots of veggies and some protein are ok.

    Dr. Jo

  • can I just eat alot of fruit and veggies only? I hear its the 80 80 10 10 diet ..someone told me the yeast dies in jut a few days....What do you think of that?

  • depends on how bad your yeast overgrowth is.

  • How your body responds depends on your metabolic type. Some of us need protein, others tolerate more carbohydrates. In general you need a balance of protein, carbohydrate and fat in your diet to feed you without feeding the yeast.

In my experience the 80-10-10 diet only suits about 10-20% of the population.

    Dr. Jo

  • @schazam04 For most folks that probably would not work, but for some it may. That eating plan uses a lof of fruit which way too much sugar into the systems of most folks. Seems to me that candida would thrive on it.

  • I am a physician who has studied nutrition and Candida extensively.

Some food does not get converted to sugar, ie protein is not regularly converted to sugar in the body.

The starches are converted to sugars if digested properly.

The problem sugars are the refined sugars that are simple sugars that zap into the bloodstream rapidly.

Simple sugars do feed Candida. A person with yeast overgrowth will not reverse it if they continue to eat sweet food, refined carbohydrates.

  • Hi Dr. Jo.

Would you suspect a relationship between Interstitial Cystitis (IC) and Candida infections?

  • I beat candida in 4 days.

Candida is a blood fat problem. Fat inhibits the absorption of sugars in the blood so those sugars hand around and feed the candida. It's not a sugar problem or a yeast problem. I ate fruit only (yes fruit!) for 4 days and the candida vanished.

I've returned to my raw vegan diet but around 10-15% fat - no oils etc, and only very little avocado every day or so, and I'm doing fine. I'm eating two meals of fruit only every day.

Message me if you need clarification.

  • so, you're saying all I have to do is eat only fruit and the candida will vanish?

  • Everyone I know who has tried this - fruit only diet - beats candida. For me it was 4 days. I've heard of 2 days and don't know anyone who took more than 7 days before symptoms began to vanish. I no longer eat any overt fats (oils, etc) except for 1/2 an avocado and no more in any 24 hour period - usually with my dinner. If I eat fruit before the early afternoon my body hasn't absorbed enough fat, I get some mild symptoms of candida.

  • I'm moving towards an almost complete diet of fruit: Google the 80/10/10 diet by Doug Graham.

  • Best of luck with this. I hope you try it and get good results.

  • i'll try it. i've got nothing to lose. what about the traditional candida diet?

  • I tried the traditional candida diet of no wheat/gluten, no fermented products (tofu, etc), no sugar and no fruit for four years. I took Olive Leaf extract a few times every day. For me, candida manifested many food allergies. They mostly vanished on that diet, but it was very restricted as a vegan and even with the diet, I'd get allergic reactions which I couldn't explain. I also felt it to be unhealthy to try living without fruit for years and years.

  • When I discovered that excess fat was inhibiting the absorption of sugars in my system everything was clear. I'd been putting lots of olive oil on my food and was eating at least one avocado a day. When I cut those overt fats out the candida vanished in 4 days.

  • also, i thought fruit had sugar right. aren't we supposed to stay away from all sugar? if not, which fruits do u recommend?

  • The conventional wisdom is that you should stay away from sugar as many therapists think that candida is based on problems with sugar metabolism. They've slightly missed the mark as the problem is that fat inhibits the absorption of sugar.

  • I ate bananas (eat them when they're spotty) and papaya (paw paw) and strawberries mostly. You'll need to eat lots so that you don't feel too hungry. I blend bananas and strawberries up with enough water to make them like a milky smoothy - tastes great!

Believe it or not, you can eat 20 bananas a day easily.

I really recommend that you read the 80/10/10 Diet by Doug Graham.

  • thanks for all the info. i'm still don't know much about any of these diets but i'll try them. so, i can eat any fruit even if its high in natural sugar?

  • You can eat fruit because it's natural for humans to do so. As long as you cut out all overt fats and oils. I'm a vegan so it was easy. If you eat meat and dairy, you would have to take into account their high fat levels. Because it's fat that's the problem. I did 4 or 5 days on pure fruit and now eat one or two meals a day of pure fruit - don't mix citrus and sweet fruit. Best not to have dried fruit. In the evenings I have rice or baked potato with lots of leafy greens, chick peas, etc.

  • can u give me a quick combo plan of candida diet and fruit? i like to eat meat and dairy as well.

  • you can eat a little bit of meat on a candida diet can't you,as long as it does'nt have to much fat

  • I'm only commenting on the basis of what I have experienced. I don't have any experience with eating meat since 1972, so I can't tell you anything about meat and candida.

  • are'nt bananas strawberries and milk bad for the candida?

  • Milk is probably bad for candida because it is full of fat, which hinders the absorption of sugars, which feeds the candida. Fruit is fine as long as you reduce the amount of fat in your diet. I cut out all oils and can get away with between half and one avocado a day. I have organic cereal for breakfast with rice milk, lots of sweet fruits for lunch and something like a giant salad with raw spinach, beans, chick peas, avocado, tomato etc and a big bowl of rice pasta/noodles for dinner. No probs

  • Fruit is only a problem if your diet is fatty, as the fats hinder the absorption of sugars, which in turn feed the candida. I think ridding my diet of oils, etc. is an excellent trade off for being able to eat mountains of luscious fruit.

  • I have read Doug Graham's book, have met him and heard him lecture. He's a great person. But only a small segment of the population have the metabolic type to be able to eat 80-10-10.

Eating 20 bananas per day can devastate your body's ability to handle sugar. Be very careful and listen to your body attentively if you decide to try this eating plan. It may or may not work for your uniquely-you body.

  • Be very careful about eating only fruit - it may not work for your uniquely-you body.

I'm always open to ways to overcome health problems like yeast overgrowth. If your problem is reversed by eating only fruit, I suspect that yeast was not the underlying issue, but rather a digestive or toxic problem. Yeast does hang around because of environmental toxins accumulated in our tissues.

  • Some people can eat vegan, but they are a small percentage of the population. Find out what your metabolic type is and eat the way that serves your uniquely-you body the best for optimal healthy.

Obviously thefutureisvegan's metabolism does not handle fats well. But you may handoe the good, necessary fats well, but carbohydrates not so well. Try eating according to the plan in Dr. Jo's Natural Healing Cookbook, vary the amounts of fat, carbohydrate and protein to find your perfect diet.

  • I didn't end up following Graham's book to the letter, being unconvinced that a little cooking of grains and beans is as bad as he would have us believe. So I eat mostly raw and have a component of grains and beans in my diet. However your claims that only a small percentage of people can handle the vegan diet are ridiculous. No percentage of society can handle the amount of protein in an omnivorous diet and certainly not from meat and dairy which are totally unbalanced for humans.

  • How many species on earth have populations which are omnivorous and herbivorous? Answer: none. Arguments for "metabolic type" are used by those attempting to sell books to long suffering dieters or those whose bodies are giving up under the burden of meat eating and are seeking health renewal.

There is nothing in human physiology to suggest that we should eat the decaying flesh (cooked or uncooked) of other animals much less the milk of another species.

  • As for my metabolism's inability to "handle fats well", I would challenge anyone's ability to do so. Evidence for this is all around us. What people consider to be "normal" or "good health" these days is laughable. I was eating a lot of Olive Oil. I still eat an avocado a day and enjoy nuts and beans which are all pretty fatty too and still no Candida. All that bottled oil just pushed me over the edge.

  • Your theories may sit comfortably with your book sales and whatever kind of practice you might be running, but they don't accord with the facts about human physiology and the appropriate diet for fueling it.

  • Everyone needs a good source of the correct amount of good fat. I agree that most bottled oil is not good for us.

    Dr. Jo

  • We have a difference of opinion and that's fine as long as we treat one another respectfully.

Bless you and have a great day.

  • @thefutureisvegan I'm glad that worked for you.

  • Yes, Candida can certainly be part of IC along with food allergies.

    Dr. Jo

  • @tmobileg Yes it certainly can be.

  • you could have saved me the nine minutes and just said you were selling a freaking book. Thanks for nothing Doc.

  • @davidbrianmay Hi David, so sorry that this video was a disappointment to you. Of course it's impossible to put all the healing information contained in my cookbook on these short YouTube videos. How will people know about the cookbook that's helped so many people unless I tell them about it.

Blessings to you and I hope that you find the healing that you are looking for.

    Dr. Jo
