Very nice! I have operated topband AM portable using an old lifeboat set (CMF Safetylink Mk3, 1960's AM transistorised rig with Xtals) with about 2.5 watts out. What is the output of the Seacom 40B?
Congratulations for hard activity on 160 meter with poor antenna and power. Have you tryed a 10 mt fishing pole with a large coil in the middle? Every time I go out of home for portable activity there are always someone who asks to me: what are you doing??? 73 de Enrico, IW3FZQ
Yes Pete I agree with the comments. Land Based Portable is a great way to mix radio with adventure. You're almost offshore :) One day it would be good for you to be actually onboard a boat/ship in Port Phillip Bay transmitting all across Melbourne.
batterymaker: here some reckon you're talking to 'outer space' or 'aliens'. Re terrorism, surely uttering the phrase 'homeland security installation' should allay fears.

If you tried doing that over here, chances are people would think you were a terrorist trying to make "chatter" with Al Qaeda.... :-)

Nice Video.
I did this once at a local beach here in Newfoundland and lots of people asking questions. Was nice to see for sure.
