  • Pink Floyd is the heaven, we are the angels and David is GOD! :-D

  • BY far the greatest guitarist EVER! Also an amazing voice!!!!

  • This is amazing...thank at who put this there...Quelle extraordinaire chanson et solo!!!!

  • Now THIS is more like it- the other version of this up on youtube w/ Dave playing an electric through the whole song is pretty weak. The band sounds marvelous, and D.G. is in top voice as well. Thanks for posting!

  • my favourite singing voice there ever has been

  • 64K + brilliant people in here! Better not see any down thumbers

  • Fucking AWESOME!!!!

  • Seeen Him IN 84 and 06 blown away I was still am sends shivers down my back incredable stuff

  • Mick Ralphs is thinking " I want one of those pedals David use for christmas..."

  • David is my favourite guitarist. He's real, whereas to me Hendrix and Van Halen are celebrities.

  • What a solo!!!!

  • David gilmour proves he is not only one of the greatest guitarists but also one of my favorite song writers of all time.

  • this David solo is so powerful and great.

  • lo mejor del mundo david

  • Love u Nunnoufty

  • 1:14 bass solo is EPIC

  • first guitar soloist - "Hell yeah, I just nailed a badass solo. Chicks love badass solos. I'm awesome!!"

*Gilmour ditches the acoustic for the electric*

first guitarist - "Damn, I suck"

  • @DocumentedWorld That happens to Mick Ralphs from Mott the Hoople and who later formed Bad Company.

  • @DocumentedWorld That happens to Mick Ralphs from Mott the Hoople and who later formed Bad Company.

  • Nope... it's about how Roger waters tried to kill Pink Floyd with all his WWII whining bullshit!

David shows the layers of "Pink Floyd"... It was DEFINITELY the music and a great lead guitar. A lot of the words were cool when you were stoned... the next day, they seemed a little "childish". Roger Waters never wrote a lyric that John Lennon could wipe his ass with!

And, if he was such a great song writer... where's the new stuff!?!

(Been waiting for over twenty years.)

  • You all realize this about John Lennon's killer, right?

  • Proof that David Gilmore is PINK FLOYD!

  • @po11utedmind david is not floyd

    waters is not floyd

    rick is not floyd

    nick is not floyd

they all are floyd. pink floyd is a band

  • I like the bit from 0.00 to 7.57

  • i just love gilmour's tone, the best one I've ever heard

  • is that Pino Palladino on bass?

  • @ksmit yes it is

  • @ksmit Mickey Feat - bass guitar

  • @ksmit yes

  • David Gilmour has long been considered one of the most talented men to ever strap on a guitar, by his fellow musicians and guitar makers alike. Ask the people at Fender! People jump at the chance to work with him, and he finds the most talented musicians. He's one of the few players that has the ability to use his guitar like an extension of his own voice. Listen to "Marooned" or "One of These Days". I know everyone has a different Top Five, but to watch this man play is truly amazing.

  • @WaylonX76 listen to his album "On an Island" i had an eargasm!

  • @WaylonX76 He can express more with few notes. This is the opposite way of many modern guitar players

too much notes and less feeling.

    Regards

  • Christ, I've never heard Gilmour make his guitar just straight up fucking WAIL like that before.

  • @TheElusiveBirdMan Ummmm have you listened to Comfortably Numb live????

  • scarface on the bass at 1:37

  • It was a gun that killed John Lennon, not a knife. I understand David's usage because the word had to rhyme with "life".

  • Dave here looks like Jack Black....

    BTW beautiful song! R.I.P Lennon...

  • David was never considered a great player and even by his own words. But Pink Floyd bein my most favorite band of all time I consider him one of the best. Its just his style that seperates him from some of the greatest. Blows me away why they consider this group as pop. In my day this was heavy metel with Zep and deep purple. However Kraftwork in the same era put pink down in sound effects. Straitest guys u would ever see yet played the most spacest music. But no1 beats Floyd n my book

  • RIP THE GREAT LENNON

    WE WILL MISS YOU FOREVER

  • Bravo! I miss John Lennon.

  • That bass work is fantastic and evocative! And the guitar. And the drums. And the keyboards, vocals etc...

  • the BEST!!!

  • that guys guitar was so quit because it was afraid of gilmours godly tone so it went into shock

  • that guys guitar was so quiet because it was afraid of guilmours godly tone and then went in to shock

  • Awesome , David's guitar rocks. Such a wonderful voice to listen to.Never tire of listening to him sing or play.

  • How fucking classic is this... Rockin Roll Hall Of Fame.. Back Me.. A Million Comments On This.... Takes Me Back to 65 .... Even though I was negative 1 then LOL.. Look at Gilmour then ...And then NOW.. U KNOW what I MEAN...

  • Gilmore at his best! God bless David Gilmore! He is PINK FLOYD!

  • @po11utedmind No..Syd Barrett was Pink Floyd.

  • @dooom560 Syd paved the way, but Floyd wouldn't have really been Floyd if he hadn't left and Gilmour added.

  • @dooom560 ther would have been no floyd without "roger" barrett, but no-one can play every type of music... except mr gilmour. every lead guitarist recieved a nick name. this guy is just called david gilmour. and everyony knows who he is immediately. rock on big man!!!!

  • Great song! David Gilmour is the man.

  • Gilmour does it effortlessly,so goddamn talented it,s not funny.Great clip

  • Is that Pino Palladino on bass?

  • @101Osprey101 No, that's not Pino although he did originally play on this tune. Nice Wal bass, too.

  • @101Osprey101 That's Mickey Feat, who I think may also have played a stint with the Dream Academy. Or not, anyway, it's Mickey Feat.

  • @xerrek

shit you're right I meant the Kahler locking tremelo thing i was high and excited lol

  • HAHAH THE BLACK STRAT WHEN IT WENT THROUGH ITS HIGHSCHOOL BADASS PHASE!!! LOOK AT THAT HUGE FLOYD ROSE !!!!! LOL theres a permanent scar in it cause of that lol, like us all!

  • @boonexy

Gilmour never used a Floyd Rose.....by the way...

  • David Gilmour knows how to "talk" through the guitar...I've seen nothing match that talent since...

  • Best Gilmour solo tune.

  • By far the best recording of this that i have ever heard. Thanks for uploading!

  • One of the Best Guitarist in the World!!! Love the song can't believe you have it on video Thanks!!../O-O\

  • what year is this?

  • @Farid4fr 2010

  • I don't know why more people don't listen to this song.

  • Shame he didn't play any of the songs from his two previous albums on his 06 tour. This especially would have been great.

  • Badass...!!!!!

  • myself not whanting to step on any toes or get in to a big debate (myself) theres three bands i wish i would have gotten to see complete beatles pink floyd and le zepplin that is with all the original band members i think these bands where the hub of all rock and influenced most if not all music the beatles is and allways will be my numb 1 band i think without them music would be alot werse then it is now i like the sound but can't tell what most of them are screming about these days lol

  • @sparks377 So, you would like to see Pink Floyd without Gilmour? xD

  • great guitar player...great musician...what else can i say???

  • D: de culto el temaaa.!!!

  • yep, my heart still has 6 strings!!

love you David!(..my favorite from the album)

  • I recorded this show off of MTV in 1985 and it is one of the best you will see of david gilmore. The band is superb and the song list is geat ...they should put this out on dvd ....maybe if we make enough noise they will get the message.

  • @machine1763 I did too. Back when MTV played at least 2 "uninterrupted" concerts a week! BTW this is available on VHS. Nick Mason plays the encore on one of em.

  • Thanks for this great footage - i just bought a 1977 black strat with a Kahler locking tremolo on it like the one Dave has here in this vid .. nice to see how well it can be used and sound ;)

  • i think more people listen to this than u might think-i love it-awesome song - wish he would have done more stuff like this©

  • Good video...I never saw this performance, but I used to have the record. DG!!

  • SHINE ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol I had the 100th positive rating^

  • Fuckin Amazing guitar work david u are the man

  • David u are the greatest!!!!

  • thanks thanks thanks!!!

  • You won't belive this, but this was "our" song . ( Donna and i were together almost 7 months. LOL )

  • @starchwrecker ....She's still breathing, right?

  • @DatingGameKiller As far as i know.

  • Well, the Hammersmith Odeon recording has been official released on cd last year at Immortal Recordings. The complete line-up is Gregg Dechart-keyboards / Mickey Feat-bass / Jody Linscott-perc. / Mick Ralphs-guitar / Raff Ravenscoft-reeds / Chris Slade-drums, gueste: Roy Harper and Nick Mason. And ofcourse all time guitar hero: David Gilmour.

  • i LOVE David Gilmour's guitar playing...but i had no idea Pino Palladino could do that....

  • thats Mickey Feat one of the best lyrical fretless players

  • ah see that kills me!

I watch the video, love his playing and i look online and I find the wrong info. There needs to be better access to the information of the players behind the music we hear.

  • @Obelisk2290 I seriously don't know what "fretless" means. Please educate me.

  • @spazfair NO FRETS ON THE BASS SO YOU CAN HAVE AL THE TONES AND PITCHES IN BASS SOLO

  • Comment removed

  • hi spazfair, the fret on a guitar or bass is the division that divides the different notes. Therefore it is easier to get more accurate pitch. :-)

  • Pure David gold: music, voice, tone.... a masterpiece

  • Great song from first solo album!

  • this was not his first album david gilmour was is first album

  • I can not sleep without hearing this song. Every night I get to YouTube, and simply by addiction, I put this video. Oh God, certain things have no explanation. Thank Gilmour for his art inexhaustible. From: Vadilson - Belo Horizonte - BRAZIL

  • @PLAYMOBIL2008

I quite understand - for me it's Grantchester Meadows...

  • i can't get enough of this either; its kind of like that for me with the pink floyd song' echoes'... i never want it to end.

  • 25 years ago i went to the concert in Vreedenburg Utrecht there i drink a beer with David Gilmour after the concert. that was very special.

  • An word: fantastic.

  • The back up guitarist is ,I want to say,Mick Ralphs?....anyway he's the guitar player

for Bad Company, doin' some session work, as they say, for David. Pretty cool

  • it is ralphs

  • killer

  • Ive got the whole concert & its awesome..!

  • Hey kennylennon, you should probably read Catcher in the Rye - Holden doesn't kill anyone.

This song, by the way, is better than anything Roger Waters did on his own.

Best solo, though, is still another brick part 2 - just heard it again and it's up there with Wind Cries Mary and Whole Lotta Love

  • one sided thinking.......imagine the damage Roger and Dave could have done without your shallow thinking.......

  • Never heard this until now! How did I ever miss this work? It is some very good musical artistry.

I like plenty of all of the individuals of PF's work, but there was some very early "electronic noodling" which lacked musical content. Some of that of which I speak was on the "Saucer Full of Secrets" & "Atom Heart Mother" albums.

When they got to the Meddle album, it was sheer genius! They never looked back after that.

    I am glad they didn't.

    This is brilliant!

  • Grazie per aver pubblicato questo video, non l'avevo mai visto!! grazieeeee

  • Amazing !!!!! Deserves more than 5*****. I'm sorry i missed this concert, heard it was very informal but great.

  • the bass solo is so good

  • He still had the other tremolo system (Kahler?) and another neck on his strat in this video.

  • David Gilmour had the Kahler tremelo (whammy bar) system and also had a 22-fret Charvel neck with a Strat logo on it so he could hit notes that a normal Strat neck doesn't hit (he did hit higher notes on other shows, see Paris and Chicago ROIOs from the tour). This ending solo is one of David's best.

  • @floydgenesisnut

    You know your stuff sir

  • This is an incredible song. The only time I saw the whole 8 plus minute clip on TV (not counting having the David Gilmour VHS) was in March of 2004 on VH1 Classic when it was celebrating David's 58 th birthday. I figured they'd cut the clip after Mick Ralphs' solo but when they left it alone, I said to myself "God bless David". That ending guitar solo was epic (that is the Black Strat he is playing right there). Only David can play a proper solo with dropped D tuning with ease.

  • What is so difficult about drop D tuning?

  • @MacDrevi0us nothig you just need to keep track to avoid bum notes

  • David's tone is INCREDIBLE!!

It sounds just like the tone he had during the 80-81 wall tour, that is my FAVORITE DG tone!!

  • RIP John Lennon. Thank you David Gilmour

  • I hope everyone knows that this song is about MArk Chapman Lennons killer he wrote it for him

  • Kenny----I had NO idea,,,thank you for pointing that out

  • Hmm, I didn't know Chapman stabbed Lennon and then "Threw down the blade".? I think you are misinformed.

I highly doubt Gilmour would write a song "for" John Lennon's killer.

  • Thats Is a metaphor used by Gilmour to interpret murder. If you listen he talks about someone who is crazy. Mark David Chapman plead insanity in the trial of the murder of lennon. Gilmour also says that he uses his craziness for an excuse. Some people don't beleive that Mark David Chapman was crazy. Thay proves my point.

  • U can't b serious, this has nothing to do Lennon!

It was a restaurant employee in NYC.

  • You people dont get it!! When he says

Can make any difference of turn back the page...Mark David Chapman killed John Lennon Because of the book Catcher in the Rye. The last page Mark Chapman read was when the character in the book killed another man (who was his hero)

  • where can i find this dvd or vhs i tried all the malls around ashland ky let me now if you can please

  • use limewire or itunes

  • This is unfortunately unavailable. this happaens to be the best concert he has done since the original pink floyd broke up

  • putting the "F" back in incredible, what an experience

  • one of my favorites from the 1980s' that got very little radio play - thanks for sharing.

  • This was actually a rock radio hit here in the US. I heard this on WBCN and WHJY when it came out. Then WZLX used to play it when they had their Pink Floyd half hour on Saturdays nicknamed "The Perfect Pink Envelope". "Murder" reached either #12 or #13 on the US Billboard Rock Track Charts in 1984. When I first got About Face on cassette in February, 1988 I managed to play the tape until it wore out (I then acquired on CD).

  • his voice and guitaring r amazing awsum song

  • Gilmour kicks more a!@# than Bruce Lee in his movies.

  • Comment removed

  • he does too

  • Are you blind and stupid ? Mick Ralphs plays the first solo and David joins in later on to play one of the best solos I've ever seen.

  • the bassist is fucking O.G

  • Micket Feat by the way David played the fretless on hey you

  • Long live David Gilmour and R.I.P John Lennon!

  • fuckin great

    gilmour is GOD

  • Is that Mick Ralphs (m.t.h.,and Bad Co.) playing ? He fits in perfectly.

  • The original line up is David, Mickey, Jodie Linscott, Greg Dechard, MIck Ralphs and not forgetting Chris Slade and I have met them all in person...even if I was 8 years old

  • forgot saxman Ravenscroft he played the classic saxline on baker street

  • Davvid is flying on fire here.

  • Comment removed

  • Who's the bassist? is it Pino Palladino?

  • I don't know, but he's pretty badass :P

  • Probably my favorite of David's solo songs.

The bassist does a great job with the solo... not a note-for-note copy of Pino Palladino's original, but an emotionally charged solo that fits perfectly into the song and really showcases the beuatiful sound of the fretless bass.

    This song is a masterpiece.

  • Excelente!!!

  • You're my idol, Mr. Gilmour! FOrever and ever

  • David's playing is always so good, even as he got older. My God, he is a true performer!! BTW that bass player did a great job too

  • a true guitar artist

  • absolutely incredible. Gilmour isnt a guitarist, hes an alchemist. He pulls sounds out of that guitar that are truly awe inspiring. Love the Thin Lizzy twin guitar bit at the end, the only time ive ever heard Gilmours playing sound like someone else!

  • yeah dave!!!!

  • what the hell is wrong with the bassist?

    Too much coke!

great otherwise thanks for the upload

  • The world is coming around to the idea that Gilmour's solo albums were pretty good afterall.

I wish he'd do more of his early solo stuff at his concerts

  • Awesome song

    Amazing solo

  • One of Gilmour's best solo efforts.

  • this is freakin awesome

  • not many peaple listen to this song so plz comment

  • @rodncarlproductions this song is amazing..david is the greatest..
