Had them in my Explorer and after 8000 miles it developed a misfire. Had the engine scoped and found three of the six plugs were causing the problem. Installed platinum 4 and it ran fine.
you need to do a video on pulstar spark plugs the only performance spark plug that works my buddy put the iridiums plugs in his cobalt ss and got 10 hp increase as a result he went from 12 pounds of boost to 13 it would be a cool idea to compare this plugs to those e3 just my two cents
@Carb0nite you have almost the same engine as mine. I have a 4.6 3v. I'm thinking of using these spark plugs too. But before you put these E3s in, GET NEW IGNITION COILS! Trust me when I say that, especially since you have a Ford V8. I was telling someone this on another clip! Check out ignition coils from Accel,MSD ignition, or Davis Unified. Stock coils have 20,000 or so volts, while the premium ones I mentioned give off 35,000 to 40,000 volts. Enough for these E3s to really shine!
do u know a place where i could have my spark plugs changed cause i was looking at some videos and they show that ford spark plugs break in 3 pieces?!??@@?
Okay there's this girl I like a lot and she asked me to change her spark plugs. I want to impress her so obviously I said yes. This video will definitely save my ass! gonna try on my pickup tomorrow afternoon just to be sure that I have the right idea!
Honestly, I have had not so good luck with E3's, My SVT didn't run very well, I put some Autolite iX-Iridium plugs, and it's fine, my F150 wouldn't start at all, my friends Chevy ran OK at best for about a month, then they started causing problems, same with a dodge guy I spoke with at AutoZone who was replacing them.
Import applications however, I've noticed have a higher luck with them.
Please Help!!! I Have 2009 Honda Civic LX 4DR. And What Happened Is: I Went To My Friends House On My Car, Without Any Problem, I Spent There About An Hour (1) Then I Got Back To My Car To Drive Home, After About 10 Seconds Of Driving My Car Lost Speed, And Start Shaking Hard, And It Could Drive More Than 10-25 MPH, And Also Malfunction Light Came On (Blinking).
Question: What would be a good degree to learn these things you are talking about. for example automotive technology..would that be a good one or is there something better?
excellent instruction(alton brown style :) ) the only thing i didn't see was how to gap the e3's since they are diferent from the old "j" style but it is early and only on 1 cup of coffee lol-great video!
@motorztv yeh sorry chris, like i said only i cup of coffee(lol) but i did enjoy the video and am subscribed. i have a 95 eagle talon non turbo :( and looking to do some basic maintenance. thanks for the quick response.
I'm a young woman and I really enjoy instructional videos such as this because I don't need to go to a mechanic who sees me as some dumb chick who doesn't know anything about cars. The worst part is when they charge us a ridiculous amount for some real simple job like an oil change ($179, as if, PLEASE!) All to say, thanks, I change all four spark plugs on my own with no problem at all. Again thank you so much.
hubblelSS, the issue that you describe is a common issue with spark plug wires. There are a couple of different tool to remove the wires from spark plugs. This tool from Sears: Craftsman Spark Plug Pliers, Sears Item# 00947315000 | Model# 47315 is a common type and work well. Depending on how old the wires are and how well they were made, you might still have this happen. These will be the best chance of saving your old wires.
Hi Chris, I've a question on removing plug wires.. My beater uses wire types that have a boot of about 3" long w/ some small "grip" areas where it looks like you should grab to pull the wire off but all too often, anywhere from 1-3 of the 4 pull right off leaving the metal piece on the plug so I have to use pliers then to pull it off. I HAVENT tried any special tools yet but beyond that, is there a way to help keep this from happening ? Thanks!
I Prefer The Bosch Platinum Plus 4 Sparkplugs, i heard about those E3's .... but until i see PROOF about better milage and performance over the plus 4 Bosch's im sticking to Bosch lol
If your gonna work on ths civic in the future vid's it would be awsome to see one that has increased power and yet is very economical , but still looks great and not like a ricer
I would like to see how easy it is to change them on my car a 98 grand prix with a supercharger. Since you have to remove engine mounts and rock the engine forward to access the back three.
I put some E3's in my bone stock 1995 F150 last year and I haven't had one problem with them. Some hate them, but I think it may have been other problems for them, and they blamed the plugs. My truck passed CT sniffer emissions (on stock cats and stock exhaust) with FLYING colors and gets 14city and around 20mpg HW. NOT bad for an older 5.0 V8! XD
@DropThatHammer not exactly, a knock is when 2 flame fronts meet. This can happen when you use a low grade fuel that can ignite w/o spark or any other causes that would make a 2nd origin of ignition. What e3 does looks like a very uneven flame so that it's probably akin to a knock though not quite the same. B/c it not like 2 flame fronts meet head on, it doesn't trigger knock sensors. However, b/c it has a little knock quality, it's probably bad for your engine in the long run.
Another great and informative episode!!! One question: Is the E3 Spark Plug an ideal replacement for a car that typically requires a copper plug? I have a 1995 Monte Carlo with an L67 S/C motor, with copper plugs, and must use higher octane fuel (91 or 92). I like the idea of fuel economy in addition to better performance. Again, is it ideal to replace the copper with the E3, without any issues? Thanks to you and your team for your hard work!
1) If you put any other type of plug in other than recommended then you run the risk of burning out your coil because of too high or to low of resistance. 2) My, and a-lot of other people's experience I know, with the E3 spark-plugs is they collect junk faster than a normal plug, and are harder to clean witch by the way yo have to do way more often. 3) NEVER use anti seize on your plugs because they can become loose and you'll loose compression.

i try them e3 on my 01 bullitt n didnt see a difference its stalls atfter realeasing the clutch at first gear and no throttle response sow went back 2 ngk
@DarkBeast29 E3 makes plugs for *most* vehicles. Best thing to do is visit their site or a retailer to find out. If you click the link to the Motorz TV website in the description, there's a link to E3 as well as a retailer.
@nuclearthreat545 We have several Hondas that we can work on and probably will at some point! The focus of this season will be the '68 Jeep CJ5, however.
