The United States is toast...the country leaders sold out when they allowed the dollar to be removed from the gold standard. Jim Rogers has been warning about this for a while and he's been correct.
i've been wanting to become a farmer(this is before i even thought about the economy and stuff), i got to this video by typing in "how to become a farmer". i want to be a farmer, but i'm not really sure how i would go about making that happen
I have often told you stories About the way I lived the life of a drifter Waiting for the day When I'd take your hand And sing you songs Then maybe you would say Come lay with me love me And I would surely stay But I feel I'm growing older And the songs that I have sung Echo in the distance Like the sound Of a windmill goin' 'round I guess I'll always be... A farmer of fortune
Jim is right on. Own a safe place to grow some sustainable food. For less than a new car you can own a sustainable farmette in a beautiful tropical country. Have a safe retreat to go to when things get too hard hear. Contact Biospharms for more info.

He is claiming that the economy will get worse in 2nd half of 2009 and even into 2010! Instead the stock markets (especially US) have increased by over half since this video was made!
Also, where is this non-existant social unrest he speaks of?
@stevedublin I'm socially unrestful. I believe the stock markets are rising nominally because the money master inflate them to do so. But, industrial capacity continues to decline in America, real jobs, production jobs continue to be lost. Factories are closing, foundries are closing, construction employment is nonexistent.
Im sorry but i havent heard anything about what just happened with the oil spill... or you telling me our economy collapsing has nothing to do with that. It was a giant cluster-fuck that should have been prevented. We are all running around like a chicken with their heads cut off. (Goverment) GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS!

I am practically out of most currencies(never a big investor there), US stock and now only taking showers in the regional stock market.
So if the world doesn't end in 2012 with either WW III or NIBIRU, hopefully life can return to normal somewhat.
But end 2008 till now been one crazy time if you ask me. Unbelievable.
If I read all the info right, it makes sense to buy a farm if the currency is suffering from inflation. When Germany had hyperinflation, you need a wheel barrel load of paper money to buy a loaf of bread.
After WWI, or the Great War, victorious Euroean powers sought to punish Germany for starting the War and demanded reparations. Germany started printing money and caused hyperinflation. In a restricted way, the FED is printing money and fiat money may hit the US and the world economy. Buy income generating assets. Holding onto paper money in time of high inflation brings grief.
I don't know really. There is now talk of Nibiru being sighted for sure. So that mean you must not get into assets near the sea. Even mountain bunkers will not be safe if near areas of fault lines. Putting this controversial talk of Nibiru, paper currencies are never a good thing to hold. You have too much, they think you are a bank robber. Best invest in good value holding assets. Land away from the sea.
@CommanderUTube thanks for replying even though it is so late. lol. Nat gas is cheap. I have some of the etf. But could go lower. what do you think of it as an investment. I understand that paper currency not good to hold. But you must understand, that more than 70 percent of stock investors lose money. there is risk.
I have come to the age when I no longer can claim I am getting younger and better each passing day. My main wealth is all passed over to the younger management and keeping myself on my feet is my main preoccupation, I have thought about going to Tibet for a long vacation but the bunkers on the Indian side of the Himalayas are already booked, My brother went to Tibet but he had high altitude sickness. Invest in a bolt hole neverthelss as your family may benefit from the investment.
the Karrick process, a ton of coal will yield up to a barrel of oil, 3000 cu. ft. of rich fuel gas, and 1500 lb. of solid smokeless char (semi-coke). The economics of the process are such that the oil is obtained for free! The smokeless char is an excellent substitute for coal in utility boilers, and for coking coal in steel smelters. It yields more heat than raw coal. A Karrick-LTC plant with a daily capacity of 1000 tons would co- generate 100,000 KW-hours of electrical power
Its great listening to Jim and i have a few of his books but the one big thing i disagree with him on is that the people in Washington are clueless. Some probably are and some have dillusions but the ultra large players have a plan and it is global. They are trying to form a global system of government, of economics, of social structure and of ideology. It is very much a control structure designed from the top down. Like a modern day Egyptian Empire. Thats the big issue & all roads lead to this
@jayangli inflation is just one aspect but it is far from the only reason. If people loose trust in the US Dollar their becomes a reason for a global currency. There have already been lots of ideas put forth, including one big one from the IMF called the SDR. There is also the Wocu. Some years back there was a push for a global currency called the Bancor. This has been the wish of the bankers for a long time but they need the right crisis to bring it out.
@jayangli Sorry, i have been away for ages. Inflation itself is not the single reason for this system. Inflation is simply a hidden tax and a result of floating exchange rates which the bankers fought to get pushed in. They went off the Gold Standard in 1971 and this gave them the ability to manipulate the currencies far more.
@jayangli I would say land is a good investment. Having the ability to grow food and sustain yourself. get land with a water source and good soil. The stock market is rigged but you can short some things. Gold and Silver is ok but you cannot eat it. As always, the best things in life are free. Invest in your friends and family, invest in community and invest in your own personal development. Those things cannot be taken away by an economic collapse. Good luck!
Jim is just a feisty guy. Notice that he is smiling while admonishing. Anyway, he is right on wrt trends. We here in the USA have a bunch of losers that are filling the pockets of their Wall St buddies while we watch in amazement. People are fed up by this feedy frenzy, paid for by us taxpayers and even our grandchildren. Next they will be selling our national parks to overseas developers.
I agree bruinjoe - Jim always acts the eccentric old rich person who always acts annoyed at being asked questions - and his responses sound like, "oh for heavens sake, everyone should know this and you are stupid..and I am tired of saying all this. Just a unique character that people put up with his crankiness.
i guss he missed the 25 percent runup from march to april 2009. but loong term.. am sure no great steady bull for sure. farmer on small scale still possible for many but only if you want to commit to a heavy labor input from yourself.
Your store of food won't out last the depression that is coming. It's good advice to go into farming to producing enough food to feed yourself and your family to survive the food shortages that will inevitably hit once the government-induced hyperinflation kicks in.
Indeed, the farmers will be the most sufficient if the super hyperinflation scenerios come to past.
As a city dweller and older - it is unlikely I will be able to grow enough to survive on, even as I have my entire small city yard filled with Tomatoes, beans and lettuce. I do store up on dry beans, rice, beef jerky, canned chicken and other foods. It will be easy to see the inflation coming and then super-store stuff.
I remember 1980 + inflation - it was nasty, but, this one may be much worse.
Jim Rogers must have the biggest stomach ulcer; He is very emotional - especially when interviewers ask the very same questions all the time. lol. Well, thanks Jim for the warnings.
Nobody can get a loan for farming? I smell some grande government subsidies coming up soon!
Thing is, this guy is smart and telling us the truth. It's so sad that we choose the path of ignorance instead of trying to swallow this bad diagnosis, and find a way to treat our economy.
I agree Jim is smart on financial things. Jim has been promoting commodities(all commodities, including agriculture) since CNBC started 20 years ago. (even before the powerful bankers created this debt mess.)
He is one of many many smart financial guys - It surely cannot hurt - to follow his advice.
But, one think I have learned in life - Diversify, diversify - because noone really knows the future.
You won't find an Indian that will admit that something is wrong with their country. That's why the government is so set in their ways and opinions that no one can expect any fundamental change ever. Over-regulation and over-protectionism will continue to hamper investments in that part of the world.
Even as simple as this interview, that Indian guy was incredulous that Jim Rogers wouldn't put money in India. If there's one thing Indians do not lack, it's hubris...outrageous arrogance.
@zachary261 too many races and too many ethnicities, metro india is cool and modern but most part of india is still in poverty, most indians live in the dirtiest conditions imaginable. they still have the untouchable race who are basically slaves. google indians eating rats or indians drinking urine. 50% of inida is in poverty and dysfuntional

The government is methodically destroying small farms and farmers all across the country. We will NOT be permitted to do animal husbandry or grow sufficient produce to survive. We cannot be controlled if we have enough food.
Check your grass roots. We WILL be permitted to grow sufficient produce to survive. Goog "South Portland Maine Chickens." In 2007, residents were allowed to own up to 6 Chickens. But no Roosters. So, husbandry might be out for the time being, but we are able to pick "Hen Fruit"
Now think Last years embargo style manipulated High prices ,look at 1970,s Arab oil embargo .
Bye bye US economy ,purely by hiking the price of gas and causing fear !! slowing the economy rising living costs slowing the housing market ,lowering house prices, Bursting fannie and freddies bubble , we found the pin in the Haystack
Middle Eastern espionage takes out eco s of western world !
The commodity super-cycle is over. Many analysts, including renowned agricultural experts are expecting increase in food supply in the long run.
Keep investing in China, and see your money evaporate this year just like it did in 2008. Millions are becoming unemployed every month, China is going to the toilet. Why do you think Chinese government is spending billions?
And Korea going back up? *scoff* Go take a look at NYSE: EWY and try talking again. You liar.
hey jim, i live in hawaii and I am thinking of leasing land start farming myself and my brother used to farm on the east coast do you think that there would be grant money for such a project .
God I love JIM ROGERS! I just always go to financialtruth0.blogspot . com because they post all the latest videos there of RON PAUL, PETER SCHIFF, JIM ROGERS and MARC FABER! Thanks for uploading anyway!
Not individual "Asians," they're referring to how Asian counties (primarily Japan and China) have purchased US treasury bonds (short term BTW) and have been moving to reduce their bond holdings in favor of less risky investments. One way to reduce those holdings is to purchase real assets with them. The value of the assets you purchase may decline, but it is unlikely they will go to zero (like the dollar).
Invest in things you can use and trade readily within a local community.
We people need to learn how the Amish survive just going back to nature and not using any electricity. They are the best farmers on earth. Go visit them and learn their ways how they survive. In their community every adult learns a trade or craft from being carpenters to farmers. The women cook from scratch and sew without machines, etc.
The Amish are being driven OUT- out of farming, out of produce, out of food preservation, out of food sales. Those communities are under the gun in ways they never have before, and many of them have actually been thinking about emmigrating- to South America! We're NOT going to be permitted to be self-sufficient in any way.
Haha, what a joke. The American news lies all the time. Depression is coming. I like this Rogers guy, he says what he thinks and isn't a total dumbass. Oh, look at the neckless of the Indian woman, it's an upside down pentagram - maybe she's into goth, for all you goth lovers out there.
When was this video shot? If it was today or yesterday I don't know if Jim is bs-ing us or what about shorting the US market. With the exception of the Nasdaq everything has broken below its november lows and i'd say we are posed for that bear market rally that everyone has been waiting for.
Im a farmer..ooooh rrrrrr ive got my poatoes ready with roast chicken yum. Who wants some ? Just let me know and i'll make extra. You can sleep in the barn ooohh rrrrr.

The government is methodically destroying small farms and farmers all across the country. We will NOT be permitted to do animal husbandry or grow sufficient produce to survive. We cannot be controlled if we have enough food.
thoracle 2 years ago 2
Check your grass roots. We WILL be permitted to grow sufficient produce to survive. Goog "South Portland Maine Chickens." In 2007, residents were allowed to own up to 6 Chickens. But no Roosters. So, husbandry might be out for the time being, but we are able to pick "Hen Fruit"

Jim Rogers, get real.
You liar.

Asians arent liquidating their us dollars. They arent even allowed to hold us dollars! Just buy oil at these levels. Why take risk picking countries!
30percentplusreturns 2 years ago

The women cook from scratch and sew without machines, etc.
starlight1946 2 years ago 12
The Amish are being driven OUT- out of farming, out of produce, out of food preservation, out of food sales. Those communities are under the gun in ways they never have before, and many of them have actually been thinking about emmigrating- to South America! We're NOT going to be permitted to be self-sufficient in any way.
thoracle 2 years ago 2
The Amish community is growing and they are buying property.

It's amusing how the talking heads don't know what to make of Jim's brutal honesty. They always sound stunned by his pronouncements.

When was this video shot? If it was today or yesterday I don't know if Jim is bs-ing us or what about shorting the US market. With the exception of the Nasdaq everything has broken below its november lows and i'd say we are posed for that bear market rally that everyone has been waiting for.
