try staying balanced and 'in' your shot. A little more knee bend and feeling your weight on the balls of of your feet when you set up will help you with this. Youre off balance which is why you hop out of most of your shots.
if you're still taking advice, one thing i would change/work on is your leg when you bowl. that right leg seems to jerk you up or throw you off balance a bit, try smoothing it out or try to keep you foot on the ground for a little better balance.
My suggestion is to start a foot or so farther back, give yourself a little space to try and stop your popping up at foul line. also i'd work on a free swing rather than muscling it up for a massive backswing. its just not needed and gives you alot more to error on during each ball.
Of course you struggle in league. You have no balance, and good form holds up under pressure. Winding up and peeling on the ball doesn't get results, it's the signature of a house bowler and nothing else.
your feet are a little ahead of you which is forcing the hop just an observation your a great bowler it looks like tho so go withw hat works for you but just what i see if you wanna listen great if not i dont think it will hurt lol
Pretty good release and eveyrthing man. Lol wish I had a rev rate :o
One thing I saw that you could maybe fix in your approach is that little hop you make at the end. Getting rid of that will ensure you have consistent balance which will lead to more consistent throwing. But anywayz thats just something you might want to do, you dont need to listen to me =]
haha 799 that sucks have you shot 800 yet?? and it looks like you throw the ball pretty good just work on your balance and being a little more accurate
First of all your practice session wasnt very productive. The idea of practice to become a better bowler is to throw different shots, get different ball reactions, and play different lines. You dont get rings for throwing 300's in practice. What do you do when the lane breaks down. What do you do when you get a ton of carry down. What do you do when you make a great hit and leave a solid 8 pin. Thats all stuff to work on during a practice session.
wow, you're about as dumb as they get. first of all, NOBODY makes an adjustment off a stone 8 unless they're left handed. the stone 8 for a right handed bowler is the only true tap in the game, and there is NO adjustment that can be made.
further, shot repetition is the most important part of bowling aside from spare shooting. making quality shots and repeating your delivery should be something that you work on in practice, which is what this guy was doing.
to continue, any quality bowler can adjust to any lane condition on the fly. if the shot breaks down, you make an adjustment. if the shot carries down, you make an adjustment. you can't "practice" an adjustment for breakdown or carrydown if you're not bowling on it at that particular time, because you have no idea how your ball will react to carrydown if you're bowling on a fresh shot....common sense, stupid.
me personally, i move into the carrydown and use it for hold...
finally, people shoot 300's in practice sessions all the time. to me that's a good practice session, because it shows shot repetition. you keep talking about adjustments like you shouldn't be working on repeating shots. however, if you can't repeat GOOD shots, you can't make an adjustment because you never adjust off a poor shot - ever.
im 15 and i just recently bowled my first 300 and all i did was think about maintaining ball speed and making sure that i dont dip down because i have a bad habit of that.
I wanna say 90% of mistakes do to nervousness are slower ball speed and pulling the ball a couple boards. So the key to finishing off a 300 is aggressiveness.
ummmm who is your coach on tour cause he obviously hasnt taught you very much u dont know how to spell spares its not a spear you fucking moron and you have no clue what ur talking about
well dude if u had any clue where the ball was going that might help and um your obvioiusly one of those bowlers that only bowl on house shot because ur game is fucking terrible so throwing a 300 in league shouldnt be that difficult when u have 15 boards to hit and if u cant do it in league u really blow
too bad you'll never be there you gotta have the drive discipline and desire and you dont have any of those i bet so don't talk crap on a youtube comment bowl me in person and then you can talk
pro's practice spears, spears and more spears. my coach shot 20 games in the morning 20 games at night. if your just ok at spares they will be the death of you if you can't pick them up more matches are lost because of spears. hey good luck man and if you have any questions just ask me idk if you have my email cause i just got an account tonight so idk.
and be lazy and try to aim the ball dont! dont try just do it! my coach in tour not counting practice has shot 48 300's and 8 800 series. house shots are the easiest shots to shoot on its the sports shots and pro patterns that will eat you up it will separate the lucky ones from the good ones. id rather be good that lucky; luck runs out. you can make an adjustment but mostly assume that its you who made the mistake but if youve executed correctly then you should make an adjustment
also concentrate on your mark and role the ball dont jerk up on it or anything just stay aggressive block everyone around you out no ones there you dont hear or see anyone. its just another day of practice and its the first frame. calm your self dont dry your hands if there sweaty and if you dont like how the ball fits your hand at that moment stop put the ball down and start over. pre shot routine!! critical every pro has one. stay aggressive thats so important cause its so easy to relax
hey man im eric im 16 and bowl for snider high school in indiana and my coach was a pro for 15 years he was on the pba tour now he's gettin old lol. but he has told us to breath in through your nose out through your mouth if you are nervous and you can also think of a place that makes you feel relaxed take your. stay aggressive though dont take things slow because then you "try" to make things right.. dont! just concentrate on your mark and do it dont try just do it.
hey man, im 20 and i just shot my first 300 3 weeks ago, just think bout it, the 11th was the hardest for me, with out that, u cnt get it, u throw a great ball
Definately everything else everyone else is saying as far as style goes but as far as the emotional part goes...DO NOT look at the score always think your just in the first few games...change your mind set...youll know you go the 300 when you hear the cheering!
you are a good bowler, obviously a cranker. I like your attitude through the video. That will keep your scores up a lot, staying in the game, and not letting emotion show. My advice which goes for anything you pursue is to stay relaxed as others have clearly wrote, and to keep that cool mood and not get excited in the midst of games like the one in this video.
Ryan Shafer has a straight legged slide like that but, no hopping. If you can just get a little more bend in the knee. Great bowling but, I never practice on just one lane. Too easy to get high games that way.
theres alot of things he is doing wrong that i could tell you about well actually its just the form he has i used to have a form like him but i switched because i kept throwing right i had a high backswing too.
Don't take too much time on the last few shots. When you try to make sure that you are relaxed, you start to think about what you "need" to do when you should just let your body do it.
If you stop thinking about the process in "trying" to get a 300 and just "let" it happen, it will come sooner then what you think.
By the way, I have 8 - 300's and 1 - 299 with many 280+ games and I am 20.
19 yr old Biomechanics student with 3 x 300. 4 x 299 to my name.
Having watched two videos of your style I believe I can help. I'v noticed that your upper body + head finish quite a way infront of your feet which is causing the hop. If you keep your head more above your feet then your centre of gravity will be restored; resulting in better balance at the foul line and reducing the chance of the patella tendon swelling in your knee.
ok, you do realize the pinfall is different everytime.. plus if you have any common sense its obvious i used a stand.. but thanks for the opinion.. watch maybe learn something from my horribly late timing, i fixed it i will make new vid soon =]
just good editing... if it was real, the camera would probly move. just keep watching his leg when he throws the ball. it flips up the same every time. and notice how he glides into position every time.
you get a mit full, and your smooth, only thing i see is late timing, push the ball off earlier, or adjust with your steps, and get it tigher to your ankle, along with your whole swing, to give you that extra balance at the line
your an ass you retard he switches back and forth with balls on the shots and the pins fall different every time dont be jealous cause u suck at bowling you ass
Smart ass remark? Bowling on a house pattern aint shit buddy especially when its a dry outside. Close your eyes, throw the ball and win. Oh and btw Ive gotten 2 300's already at one of the hardest bowling alleys in my area.
alright kid, don't get to full of yourself in my description didnt i say it was a typical hs? yeah i did, and did i say it was amazing? or even good, i said it was practice. Really you don't need to flame my video.
it doesn't matter how you get to the line, and your ball seems to get pretty good roll.. the only thing i would say is maybe be a little more balanced at the line just for accuracy purposes.. and always make spares!! lol
maybe try and get a bit lower at the foul line, this will give you more control over the approach..i noticed that u come out of the shot a bit too early..

alright thanks man, yah im having a lot of people giving me advice so i am trying a lot of different things, trying to improve my game. ill try this during practice this week.
i love how the screen showed the shot! and im like u,after i throw i do alittle hop! XD ur REALLY REALLY good!i know u get that alot but still1 best of luck to u!
ha thanks man well u just need to practice and practice and then some more practice. :P ive bowled for ages i get most of my strength to throw how i do from workn out a shit load.
I'm working on a crankerstyle myself for 2 months now, its going wel, i've being bowling 3 years now, my hole familie bowls, you can check out my channel you see me bowling old style ( btw im from the netherlands bowling isnt that famous over there) Greetz.
yah well keep it going more practice better it looks/ gets and dont mind not a lot of bowling where your at. if you get a chance to bowl a tournament wherever just do it i bowl in tournaments every weekend that i can.
Wow. You and I must be brothers or something. Haha. I did the same exact thing on 1/04/09. Search for my video "scott demirjian 300 game" and tell me what you think. As far as your form goes, it's quite impressive. You have a little bit of a hop (as I once did) and you were throwing a Track (as I was in my video). I would work on learning how to get less hand in the ball for different types of shots. I'm working on just the opposite. Good bowling dude.
I shot an 842 a couple of weeks ago with a 283, 280, and then 279. Get this... for the 280, i had 10 strikes and 2 gutter balls because i lost my focus. Great video man and the best of luck goes out to you.
I would move to a 5 step approach. I just went from four steps to five steps and my average has been going up like every week.
Thats pretty badass that you got a 226 avg...but work on spares too, cuz if you wanna go pro, you won't be on the THS all the time. and I've seen 220 house average bowlers average like 150 in sport league. DON'T become one of those.
You need to bend your knee more and keep your back toe down. Then you can have the power with more accuracy. Esp if you bowl on sport shots. You already know you can twist it up, spend practice time working being solid at the line. Lots of potential. Good Luck
try staying balanced and 'in' your shot. A little more knee bend and feeling your weight on the balls of of your feet when you set up will help you with this. Youre off balance which is why you hop out of most of your shots.

just a suggestion you dont have to use it.
first of all if u bend u knee just the slightest bit more at your release you will have better balance.
if u get shoes that slide better it might eliminate the hop.

Good bowling dude.

haha...reminds me of a 261 that I threw...front nine, then somehow chopped a bucket.

DON'T become one of those.

yeah man, you are really good. im 13 and average 222 right now, it dropped some though. but hey best of luck to you.

You need to bend your knee more and keep your back toe down. Then you can have the power with more accuracy. Esp if you bowl on sport shots. You already know you can twist it up, spend practice time working being solid at the line. Lots of potential. Good Luck

yah man thanks ive shot over 10 of them in practice cant seem to get it where it counts...
taintedtomuch 3 years ago
Maybe a small tip. You dont stand still after you threw your ball. Maybe if you do that you are more stable to replicate the shots.
No im not a bowling expert, highest game till now 266.
