That oozing stuff is real i can tell you that for sure, one investigation i did with my nephew he ended up getting sick and had his energy drained, as we were getting ready to leave i noticed a circle of a gel like substance on top of his head, looked just like that stuff. It's pronounced Peedro not because it's easier, but because the pronunciation comes from the Portugues, Italian and other seaman who established the port. The Spanish naming convention come from the fact that the first voyages were commissioned by Spain.

Even if it was pronounced with a short e originally (for the sake of argument), it's been pronounced with a long one for over a hundred years, and that seems like long enough to establish it as the appropriate pronunciation.

@guitar2heroes - just watched this episode on TV for the third time last night, but just seeing your comment today. if you saw the entire video, you'd be aware that the cord was too high for him to walk into. once he was yanked up, his feet were quite a bit off the floor, the cord twisted. the previous night, his camera was yanked from his hand. he bailed. when they got nerve enough to go back up for it, the heavy lens had be unscrewed from it and put into a fruit box in afar corner of the attic
