I love the 40-50's styles! If you look at women in the 40s or before, notice how pretty they used to look. With a cute dress and a very femanin hairstyle like this one.
@Diamonddusted68 Yes I tend to dress in a retro style all of the time. My husband dresses classically as well so he doesnt think anyting of it...it's normal for me. Strangers stare sometimes but older people tend to compliment the style.
Thanks Lisa, for the ideas! I paired this look with your Vintage Bride tutorial on a vlog I posted a week ago. I did not use a brightly colored snood, but I wanted to keep it more on the conservative side whilst pairing it with such sophisticated makeup.
Love this video! I bought that same snood in grey that I found in your previous product review. Thanks for the advice. Very excited to try this style.
@bekahjan A little disappointed. I wouldn't recommend that seller anymore. I never received my snood after several e-mails. out my money. So sad. Do you know anywhere else where I could find a snood? I am dying to try this hairstyle.
@bekahjan I sell them in my Etsy shop, it's called Ginpoodle. Mine are in the vintage net style not the type used in this video which is more of a 'rasta' snood.
@bekahjan Belle Blossoms sells this type now. They aren't the traditional net style that ginpoodle sells in her Etsy shop (haha) but they are the mass produced kind that you see in this video. I'm sorry I didnt see your comment before. :( I would have responded for sure.
if you come to nyc you need to get luigi ciorra to do your pics, hes actually my brother hes a rockabilly photojournalist and i do rockabilly hair, maybe we can collaborate together on shoots here in nyc
An added suggestion: if your hair is too heavy for the net/snood, put pin-curls on the crown and sides to anchor the pins you use to attach it (like you would with a wig)!
I'm not sure if that's a straightforward reply, but in case it's not, and you therefore read mine as something I didn't intend, my original comment was totally praising you work. What I meant was that you can't really see the details on the sides in the straight-on pictures. Hope you didn't think I was being rude, I really wasn't.
p.s. i really really love your hair color. if it's dyed, please tell me what color it is. i's AMAZING!!!! i'm really fair and golden undertoned and would love to try that color! if it's natural, you are so damn lucky!
haha...bless you for that. My hair looks really dark here but it is a bright red. My video 'Let me Dye in Peace" talks about the products I use. It's a high maintenance color, unfortunately.
When you did the review for the yellow snood I thought it was the ugliest thing I had ever seen. Now that I see it in action I love it!!! It looks so good with your hair and skin!
Lovely as always, Ashley. Since you're headed to Viva again I was wondering if you could get a website from the women who sold you the snood from your "Rockin' the snood video." I love (want) that snood.
ive always thought this style was cute but i thought women would wear it while their rollers set or something.. hahah im a dork i know, lisa your so beautiful:)
I love using my snood! I love how beautiful your victory rolls are. I'm still trying to perfect mine, but getting there slowly but surely! Have a blessed day!
This look hollered "SUMMERTIME" the minute I saw you in the yellow snood and rose! I can't wait for summer! Gotta get me a snood. My hair would fill that out perfectly. Thanks Ashley! You look lovely!
This is so beautiful! But I could never wear this in my country because people would laugh at me. I live in the wrong decade and maybe in the wrong country! :(
I always think it's funny when people say they can't wear something that they like, because they might be laughed at? If you think it's pretty and it makes you feel good, then I say wear it. You will probably get more compliments than snickers. :)
Is there any way to get Lisa Freemont Street streamed 24/7?!?!? Ha ha. I LOVE this look! I've been waiting for your snood tutorials after your Va Va Va Voom review. LOVELY!!! The yellow flower/snood combo is striking with your hair and complexion. So inspiring! Cannot wait to get my hands on some snoods!
I don't know what Viva is, but what I know is that that black dress is absolutely beautifull on you, and the contrast with the yellow accesories is absolutely stunning! The hair style is also a work of art.
Thanks so much! 'Viva' is short for the "viva las vegas rockabilly weekender' which takes place on April 1st. :) Lots of vintage loving gals go and snoods are really popular to dance in...:)
That sounds great! Though I am not a pin up or a forties-fifties girl myself, I wish I could attend any of those events... here in my country they are very unsual! I would like to have that experience.
I really like this look, but I also wanted to say, that I like it without the snood too. I think snoods were around during the Rennaisance, Gothic, Mediavel times, women would wear them too, with dramatic headpeices.
Right. In the 1940's, the snood resurfaced because so many women were forced to work in factories and they didnt want to cut their hair (which could prove a hazard around machinery). Then they started tailoring them to evening wear since they didnt have time to re-set their hair after work. :)

Very awesome! Thanks for this video! Out of curiousity, do you make your snoods yourself? If so, then I think I've seen them on Ravelry.
