im fourteen and im not stupid enough to think that my health will regerate when shot or that i should go to an airport with a gun and shoot people should i own the game no I think that fox overreacts because they still think of video games as smal 2d stuff like pac-man etc. (note pac-man is awesome) though video games need to have the ability to be controversial for better story, experiance etc. Im fine with it and if it offends me ill skip over it. im cool with it thogh if it makes it memorable

But the interesting part is, that Fox bitch so much about people becoming violent from playing, without having anything good to back it up. They quickly say that some people found out, there was a correlation between this game and violent people. But that doesn't mean you become violent from playing the game. Maybe its just violent people who buy this game. There is no problem!

also to add, i used to work in game(uk chain like gamestop) i had a young boy of about 10y holding a copy of grand theft auto 4. i refused instantly to sell it. he called me a bitch and asked y not? so i told him the truth that i wasnt going to jail just so he could play a game. then appeared again holding out his phone and said,"my mum says it fine, talk to her". the mother called me an idiot and said she would buy it for him later. some parent need to take responsibility

it wasn't surprising for me...i saw (or heard) the first teaser, and i thought that russians were terrorizing South American airports, like Rio. Agreed, on "Fox News" they said an Eight Year Old could play it. Ok WTF! An Eight Year Old has the ability to go through a game which is one of the last missions and finish it before someone notices, or even liked get to the Mission. The only way for the "Eight Year Old to Play it" was either someone played it before and it was the mission before the save.

I'm not disagreeing with you entirely, but it's not exactly a double standard. Video games are generally considered more immersive and more influential towards children due to them seeing and influencing the main characters actions. Also, im not sure if a child can discern the difference from a CIA operative doing the killing or an actual bad guy. They don't have the capacity to understand the deep meaning behind that. But other than that, I agree with you and in the end its up to parents.

The BBC didn't comment, they just got a couple of experts in, and chatted about it. I think that the consensus was it is no different to a book or film, but not suitable for children (or at least not the Moscow mission anyway) and that is why is has 18 rating.

I think that even though Fox News is extremely uninformed Infinity Ward and the creators of Modern Warfare 2 made a big mistake throwing that level into the video game. I'm not say I didn't play I'm saying it was a mistake. That being said, you don't have to kill the civilians but parents and those watching Fox News don't know that. Um Duh! What mistake? The controversy just covered up the real scandal of the game being a console port to PC, that PC users were very unhappy. InfinityWard/AV knew exactly what they were doing. That level has been in the teaser videos from the beginning. No mistake there, none what so ever... millions sold.. and thanks to the hype, probably millions more to go.
