Yes, I found communication skills are very effective in the business world, especially if you worked for someone or have to "impress" others.
I found persuasion communication to HR is less effective on application than dropping it at the front door. The truth is that HR are as lazy as any other department in a company, especially in a tough economy and facing thousands of applications a day.
@24kojiful Hi, I'm not certain what you mean, but these are commonly called "soft" skills in that they are not the "hard" skills of finance and budgeting for example, but nevertheless, are critical to the effective performance of any team. Yes, they are the domain of the Human Resources dept, but equally as well, it could be argued that they are everyone's domain and responsibility not just HR.
@drdarrylcross yeah. your right. everyone needs good communication and listening skills that is important so that they can interact people in a nice way. sorry for my question. well, im searching on youtube about business human resources management a while ago and i saw this video and I think this video is related to human resources. anyway, thanks for responding.
Hi, the good news is that both listening and communication skills are learned -- they are not genetic or due to heredity! So, it is a truism that practice does make perfect (well almost) with these skills. Stick at it!
my name is Richard and I just started a new job in realestate.I'm a litlle rough around the edges and i would like to know if i can make a big transition from speaking "GHETTO " to communicating professionally. THanks in advance
Hi, It is true that there is some debate on whether the percentages quoted are exactly that since I have seen 90% vs 10%. Irrespective, it is certainly true that the major factor in success is the communication and interpersonal side. It's critical. I'm delighted that you can recognisze that for yourself and delighted that you now intend to do something about it. Great job! Go for it!
Hi Daryl, Do you have the reference details for the the Stanford research institute study that you refer to in this article? I would be interested to read more about the types of roles that they studied. Thanks
Wow, I have no idea that "interpersonal and Communication Skills" determine where one is and in life generally. I put everything and pride of my "technical knowledge and skills". After watching this video presentation, I now understand why I am still remain at the bottom after all these years. 12.5% vs 87.5%, wow. I have to make some friends at work from now on.
