  • check ours out you tube search "bob and jack's prop lightsaber's"

  • so do all the pieces have to be 1 and a quarter inch? As well as how long in length was each lightsaber for the one that came apart?

  • wow, awesome it really works, thx!!!

  • @ 3:15 it sounded like he said 'with a 2 peice lightsaber you can FART. ROFL :D

  • @ 0:30. It was the exact opposite for me. Neither Lowe's or Home Depot carried the tube or any like it (in chrome) , but Ace Hardware had a huge selection in stock.

  • i dont under stand how it poped out and how you made the color

and the hot part you only made the handle

  • are you in the prop business because you could make some money doing what you seem to enjoy... may the force be with you

  • awww the things you can get a home depot

  • how do you make the glowing??

  • @marcelo91284 look up kinect

  • you must love star wras!!!!!!!!

  • captain price?!??!?!?

  • You would not believe howany sabers I got now woohoo I got enough toake a riot lol I got 2 double sabers 4 sabers that look like anakins sortoff 4 like obi WANs and 7 that connect also 9 that broke lol they didn't go to plan

  • lol.. i was thinking making a double bladed saber like i said in another of your videos..

but i am making mine out of old vacuum parts.. when the tubes were metal not plastic. i have the right sizes. now i just need the O rings. PVC and duct tape. and wala my saber..

i am making one double bladed and two single bladed sabrs.. thanks for the tutorials

  • you got the first idea on ehow.com

  • Check the dates they were posted. They got the idea from ME.

  • @Scottknows5 pwned by Iflank

  • i have that sword on the back

  • How fight with it?

  • i didnt find the pipe so i used another one

  • On the second lightsaber, what did you put on the end and where can you get it? Thanks

  • hey, Iflank, you must REALLY like star wars.

  • Well, what I really like is film-making. Star Wars is good for fan films because (1) it involves a lot of different film-making skills, like costuming, props, computer FX and modelling, and (2) Lucasfilm doesn't treat people who make fan films as if they were thieves or criminals and sue them for copyright infringement--unlike Paramount and Star Trek, who are run by lawyers and accountants instead of creative people.

  • @agrezel100 Dont we all?

  • is it hallow?

  • Hey i was wondering what you use for your light saber effects. I thought it might be after effects but i wanted to know if it was alright for me to use gimp for my lightsaber

  • @shawnmichalsHBK That only works for still pictures.

  • do u sell this lightsabers ?

  • orings lol

  • This is ingenious thanks

  • hey I found ur double bladed lightsaber that came apart very easy to make and the one i made loks awsome. thats for putting this video up!

  • dat is realy kool i trid it but i mesed it up lol :D

  • How much does it cost to make the second one? The one that comes apart???

  • Thank you. I have searched all over the internet for plans to make a lightsaber and yours are the best. When Darth Maul came out with his double lightsaber I wanted one but I wanted mine to be able to come apart so I could have two lightsabers. You have made my dreams come true. Thanks again, you have become my jedi master. May the Force be with you always.

  • Sorry but you just got a pipe and went on YouTube and put the light where the lightsabers are at

  • WOW, sure he is a loyal fan of Star War.

  • hey u have awesome videos on how to make ligt saber! best videos ive ever seen & ive subscribed to! but i want to see a home material made lightsaber tutorial. even if its not the best.its not that i dont want to go to stores or anything.i want to make my own home made one with stuff i could find laying around. how about it.

  • Iflank, in your opinion which double-bladed saber is cooler? The one made all in one piece or the one that comes in 2?

  • I like the one that comes apart, just because it's more versatile. As far as appearence, you can make both versions look absolutely identical. It really depends on what you want it to be able to do.

  • thanks for the video I am in the process of getting a darth maul costume together and this has helped me out ~keep them coming

  • Comment removed

  • lordnersi, ur a dick this guy is genius and awsome

  • I like the mustache...

  • wow thanks, i almost bought just the hilt of a darth maul light sabor on ebay for $500!

  • very good. the only thing I wouldn't do is cut the tops of the lightsabers at an angle becauce you would have to stop fighting and make sure both angle are facing up or down or else it would look gay. but other than that very good.

  • i liked the part at the end with the lightsaber effects

  • oh my gosh you are amazing

  • You should do a Vader costume it would be dope

  • i will try this

  • you are so nice and helpful thankyou, and thanks for being so happy in your video, really made my day, just to see someone with a good and happy attitude:D Please keep up the good work! :D

  • You are so awesome!

    Respect!

  • what kind of pvc pipe did u use to make the top part of the 2 single lightsabers thanks

  • u look like a guy ive seen on television. but i dont know... i couldnt find any "o" rings so i used electrical tape and it works great!

  • Another option is to cut short sections of two or three rings from the sump pump tube, paint them black, and use those instead of o-rings. They have the advantage of not moving around as much as the o-rings do. Cheaper, too.

  • What's the sword in the background?

  • you are a lightsaber GOD

  • no, rlly? :P

  • i have the sane sword above ur couch, in the begining of the video

  • did u go see the original STAR WARS in theaters

  • ||

    ^^ ^^

  • there is no lightsaber made yet

  • does the lightsaber really light without a computer or do you need a computer for it

  • computer effects

  • no

suprisingly a collection of piping and rubber tubes can emit an all powerful light beam capable of cutting anything to shreds

  • You would be amazed at the number of people who see me in Jedi costume with a lightsaber hanging from my belt, who ask me if it is real, or who want me to turn it on for them . . . . . .

  • does it light when you on it or hit it on something?

  • thats so awesome!))

  • SMARTEST MAN ON UTUBE!!!

  • how do i put a blade in a doubel bladed lightsber

  • The same way as with a single lightsaber -- one in each end. See my Lightsaber Tutorial FAQ video.

You;ll have to make each side shorter than a single blade, though, or it will be too long to spin. Make each side of the double-bladed saber about 32 inches long, instead of the 44 inches for the single blade (about 8 inches of that will go inside the handle).

  • actully id want 2 and how did you make the noises?

  • he downloads the sounds and putsthem on the timeline in adobe premiere

  • wow ur a nerd a fucking awesome nerd!!!

  • lol the lightsaber made a sound like on the movies

  • look at his FAQ

  • You man "Then"? Fingers do not have accents.

  • Don't make me google that for you.

  • Thats Luke Skywalker!

  • nice! finally a good source of tutorials for props!

  • good ideas youve got

  • how can i make that light saber??

  • your vids are great! im going to subscripe :O xD

  • i love that sword in the background its well sexy

  • lol you look like jeff foxworthy

  • iflank are you gunna make a new video

  • exar kun had a double bladed lightsaber.

  • I want to make the lightsaber that comes apart but were do i get the extension pipe?

  • how do you make the blade come out

  • there is no blade, its a home mad prop, so its just the hilt.

  • TeeHee Pwned

  • hey, i realy like your sabers i know its off topic and a stupid question but where did you download the sound because whenever i make a video the sound isn't too good it's okay if you don't know where though :)

  • i'm sorry i didn't see the comment bellow

  • were'd you get your lightsaber sound FX?

I recorded little bits from the movies and plan on putting them together accordingly.

  • I downloaded the sound FX. I don't recall where, but there are a bazillion of them out there. Google should turn up plenty.

  • Most of my lightsabers cost between 10 and 20 bucks. The double-ended sabers are 20-30 bucks.

  • what do i have to get again

  • Nice man, Lightsabers ftw!

  • Your lightsaber props are very original! Keep up the good work.

  • You are seriously hero material. If i'm anything like you at 47, i'll be able to pass on peacefully. MayTheForceBeWithYou

  • "When 800 years old you reach, look so good you will not."

    :)

  • yoda wonnabe hehe XD! goodjob dude!

  • Great! You are very creative!

  • thanks ur so cool do u think u could make a han solo, princese lea,boba/jango fett blaster?

  • wow :0 i bet u get tired of saing that and could u reply to my other coment pleese?

  • wat do u put on the inside of the lightsaber

cause a red button dosnt just start a blade

  • See my "Lightsaber Tutorial FAQ" video.

  • thanks man me and my friends are making a fan film and we needed to know how to make double bladed lightsabers but would you consider a broomstick for the blade or maybe a piece of pipe?

  • For blades, see my Lightsaber Tutorial FAQ video.

Broomsticks are OK but are really heavy.

PVC pipe breaks too easily, and when it breaks, it produces sharp splinters. Not good.

I use 5/8 inch wooden dowels.

  • ok thank you

  • i made a dual blade saber but its a bit boreing its just a handel from a mop cut and has tape raped around it

p.s do u think u could make a lightsaber out of an old hoover pipe???

  • Any metal pipe will do. The double-ended plumbing pipe looks best, though, because it has the flared flanges at both ends. Of course, though, if you're putting something else at the emitter end (like I did with the cut-off PVC), then the flanges won't matter.

  • awesome lightsaber's

  • Nice job!

  • fuckin hell u called never make a light saber that looks like that and the sound

  • What?

  • your lightsabers look awesome i wanna make one too ;P i may be twelve but i wanna make some too by the way how much jedi can you arm now?

  • I like the swords on your wall. o.O

  • I did medieval re-enactment back in my younger days. The sword at the top is an Italian rapier; the dagger above it with the wavy handguards is a "main gauche", or left-hand dagger, used to deflect sword blades. The one hanging on the right is a Viking longsword. And the one sitting sideways at the bottom is just a fantasy Conan-type sword.

The crossbow and shield are both home-made.

And in one of my other videos, you can see the suit of chainmail and helmet that I made.

  • do u think u could make a replica lightsaber of Vaders secret apprentices lightsaber tutorial thing?

  • See my Lightsaber Tutorial FAQ video.

  • how'd you make the lightsaber effects at the end of the video?

  • See my Lightsaber Tutorial FAQ video.

  • this'll be great for my new video! you rock! you make cheap lightsabers that look awesome!

  • this guy has some hardcore facial hair. Live the dream.

  • nice vid man it helped a lot and im posting a video on youtube soon with my new saber and again thanks

  • thanks dude i was searchin all over utube for good ideas and u were the number 14 dude for the job!!!!!

  • hahahahahaha

  • you can get an 18 inch piece of pipe at ardersons on monroe and talmadge for 5.99.

  • I hunted all over Lowe's and Home Depot and couldn't find one longer than 16".

It might be possible to special-order one from them.

  • home depo will coustom cut

  • good video

    bad sound

  • JW, couldn't you make a bigger one, like rofl 24 inches or +? it'd be more like darth maul's in my oppion XD

  • 16 inches was the longest double-ended extension tube I could find -- I was looking for an 18-inch-er.

I think a 24-inch-er would make the saber blades too short, unless you want to make the whole thing longer, which would make it more difficult to maneuver around.

  • Which special effects or photoshop you were using near the end of the video?

  • This is answered in the "Lightsaber Tutorial FAQ" video.

  • part list please?

also a tutorial on putting a pvp pipe or carbon fibre rod in your props?

  • double-ended sink extension pipe

    foam rubber weather stripping

    rubber o-rings

    sink drain gaskets

    2 sink extension pipes

sump pump tube or vacuum hose

    PVC pipe

For adding a blade, see the "Lightsaber Tutorial FAQ" video.

  • you sir are a god!!!!!!!!

  • I do struggle to find the resources to make these, especially living in the UK. I'm not making a request, but I think it would be cool to see you try and make a curved-hilt saber, like the one used by Count Dooku.

  • has anyone tryed to make this in the uk?

and how can u fit the pvc pipe in your props?

i meant to ask ages ago...

  • I havent bothered, plus I hate Hardware stores....

  • Hey can you type up the pieces we need for the lightsaber in the discription of the video? You know, just for people who want to copy and print it out for people with a bad memory (like me). Oh! and if you do, can you do the same with the others?

  • Well, pretty much all you need for any of my sabers is a popup sink drain assembly, or a piece of 1 1/4 inch sink drainpipe.

Everything else is just decoration, and you can use whatever looks good. Things I use are rubber o-rings, sump pump tube or vacuum hose tube, PVC pipe, Leggo blocks, or foam rubber window insulation.

  • K thank you...Um, do you think its possible to make a lightsaber out of stuff in a hardware store like Plo Koons? I have apicture of it in my tribute to him on my account.

  • Hmmmm . . .

I'd take 1 1/4 inch PVC pipe for the front end, with some o-rings on the outside. Put a piece of 1 1/4 inch chrome pipe into the back end, and then slide sump pump tube over that, for the ridged area in the middle. Another piece of 1 1/4 PVC pipe on the end of that, with the buttons. The cone-shaped piece at the end would be tough -- I'd try cutting a piece from a plastic funnel, and gluing on some plastic fins. Not screen accurate, but would look pretty good, I think.

  • i'll try it out! :b

  • How much would you estimate the cost?

  • Figure about two dollars for the sump pump tube, about eight dollars for the chrome pipe, and 2-3 dollars for the PVC.

I still have some bits and pieces lying around from my other sabers -- I'll putter around this weekend and see what I can come up with, and post a video.

I think I might also want to try out something similar to Qui-Gon Jinn's saber, with the ridged part on the inside . . . .

  • AWESOME! Thanks!

  • HOw much do you think it would it cost?

  • Crap! Do you have some kinda weapon collection or something? Well anyway, thanks for the vid, I was wondering how to make a saberstaff come in two for another lightsaber movie I'm gonna make.

  • Back in my younger days, I used to do medieval re-enactment. I was pretty good with a longsword, fair with a two-handed daneaxe, passable with a spear, and absolutely lethal with a rapier.

  • Sweet! Awesome!

  • Thanks again. It probably took you a long time just to edit those few seconds of the video. I'll try editing my lightsabers with GIMP later.. if I have enough time.. -Great videos, Joel

  • The sabers a bit plain but really good job on the video and saber.

  • The plain look is actually intentional -- it reflects my view of the Jedi and the Sith philosophies. To the Jedi, the lightsaber is a revered symbol of justice, and it is treated with honor. To the Sith, however, the saber is just a tool to kill oponents with. The Sith saber, then, is purely utilitarian, just a functional grip and power buttons, with no decoration. My Sith sabers all have scratches, dents, and areas where the finish is chipped off, unlike the more elegant Jedi sabers.

  • i never thought of it that way cool

  • Pretty cool. I already made a prop, but I need someone to tell me what free software I can use (not LSMaker).

  • I use Photoshop, but there's a free open-source program called GIMP that can do anything Photoshop can do.

  • I can use GIMP for pictures, but is it compatible with videos?

  • You need to convert the video to a series of still frames to rotoscope. I use Adobe Premiere to convert video sequences to a filmstrip file, then use Photoshop to rotoscope the saber blades in. I don't know offhand any free video editing programs that can convert to stills, but there must be one out there somewhere . . . maybe someone else knows?

  • so your on a pc so i think if you go to google type in fxhome and then on the website go to effectslab pro it coust like 149 dollars but its worth it you can get a free demo that lasts almost forever but you can not export so ya try that
