She is excellent as Desdemona. Previously, the measure of all things in this role ever Dame Margaret Price. She no longer alive. But since I've heard and seen no one who has just touched me. This young singer should really be done very carefully and with much more calm. Otherwise it would be a shame to make a truly precious voice.
I think this is the MOST poignant and beautiful Ave Maria I have ever seen or heard, rivaling that of Mirella Freni (my favorite Desdemona to date) even! I was moved to tears! Bravissima!
Poplavskaya is what we have been waiting for. Now I look forward to going to the opera whenever she is singing. I, too, hope that she remains wise and careful and is not tempted to sing roles that will damage the wonderful voice that she has. I do hope that I will live long enough to hear her in "Eugene Onegin."
Totally gorgeous. Thanks for posting it. Her intrepretation is so beatifully paced, so nuanced, so deeply felt. Glad to see new singers that can sing Verdi so well.
Fascinating young soprano. Delightful high vibrato notes, but in my opinion, not very expressive in low and dark passaggi: her voice lacks volume in this circumstance.
è stata l'unica che mi ha entusiasmato, tutto il resto(regia, otello, jago e gli altri comprimari tranne il cassio)era poco più che misero...e la sua voce in teatro rende benissimo
Heard live in Roma yesterday. The whole Otello production was over the top, seemed to be in the good old times. Rome's orchestra sounded like berliner thanks Muti. Poplawskaia was enormous
She is one of the only true spinto sopranos of our times. I just hope she doesn't get burned out for singing roles like Elisabetta too much too early. She has plenty of time for all the great roles. For now I only want to hear her exquisite dark voice in a Desdemona, Alice Ford or Amelia in Simon Boccanegra. :-)
Yes! I am thrilled by her, but it concerns me when I hear she is singing Don Carlo. She needs to be doing what Kiri Te Kanawa did, start out in Strauss and Mozart. Sing a countess and an Arabella and then move into Puccini, Liu, Mimi, then light Verdi, Desdemona Amelia. Maybe a Tosca at some point. But keep away from the heavy dramatic stuff. No Leonoras!
Bravo!

Sometimes she sounds awful (La Traviata), but here she is exquisite! I think she should get more dramatic roles.

La Traviata is ok? :-) thanks for the comment.
Marguerite also is very suitable for the voice. I agree, the voice it too young for the big dramatic roles.

She was a brilliant Elisabetta at ROH - it didn't seem too heavy for her. A great production in which she, in my opinion, came across the best.
