  • @SuperQueenofAfrica, nice of you to take the time to view my favorites. NOBODY is waging a war against Africa but Africans themselves. OH by the way; i seen on another video somebody was calling you out; which U didnt respond; lmaoooo. And why is u paying attention to whats going on in America if so many Nigerians and Africans are in the U.S. and Canada Beeyattchhhh. You dont need to be laughing seeing how corrupt nigeria is, lol. And all the garbage piled up in Lagos; lmaoo.

  • total bullshit about that $2.00 per day and americans should go and find out why there are so many tent cities springing up all over because people have not only lost their jobs, but their homes, etc etc.. soup kitchens and tent cities the undercurrent of us life .. the Recession has hit them HARD.. thank god nigeria's economy doesnt depend on the us or we would be totally screwed and its not as bad as al jazeera are making out ..

  • corruption by the leaders and the deals they do with europe and asia are corrupt too

  • I hope thing's change for the nigerian people.

  • I wouldnt trust Aljazeera tv I'm beginning to realise that it is always going on about negative things. I have just watched this great vid on Abuja developing well, watch?v=eqLtVmnsfmc&feature=related. You wouldn't think it the way Aljazeera tv go on. Of course it needs more consistent work but still where are the good reports.

  • Does anyone agree with me that almost all of Africa needs to wake up and advance its people and its country? You've enjoyed the old traditions for too long now, need to introduce something new that will help and advance more ppl.

  • This is a damn shame. I've been there and have witnessed the blackouts for myself (we had a generator). I have also seen the amount of wealth they have in some places. To much is given, much is expected. May God help the corrupt leaders for taking advantage of people's natural resources.

  • "We don't have gov't...we have oppressors" wow!!!!!!!

  • Selfish, corrupt leadership. Nigerian politicians just steal what they can when they can without a care for anyone else or their country,

  • wait.. what?? i know that the point of this report was to further show the problems that nigeria has but 9 out of 10 live on less than $2 a day??? how?? two dollars is about N200 in nigeria. i have lived in both the US and nigeria and i can tell you that is just untrue.

  • Nigeria will never be a good place in this world, because if u look the way things are been done in that place u will know that she will never be. Killing of innocent people by security men because they are been used by political class to oppress people and soon

  • @avannahblk @clickclarkable @MultiLaddy watch?v=eqLtVmnsfmc&feature=related . Don't be totally brainwashed and this shows how some have by Aljazeera tv. Of course reports of corruption is true but the way the west and Aljazeera go on you'd think there was no place such as Abuja in the vid above. I couldn't believe it myself.

  • I can't believe this. basically, I like watching Nigerian movies, and I noticed that the rich people over there like being called chief or madame. so what is going to happened if those gate men, housemaids and poor neighbors will have the opportunity to have a good live one day, then those Chiefs and madames will loose their titles. So it makes sense for those folks to keep squeezing the poor.

  • Poor government and corruption along with incompetence; but the ppl must work with government in solving the countries problems. Nigerians are very intelligent but its those bad nigerians and those who dont do nothing about the problem that keeps NIGERIA in this situation it is in.

  • @savannahblk i see you havent slowed down in your one man fight against africans hehehe you make me laugh though, you come on , rant at us and run away to go and cry about your "ancestors" lol! of course its not a surprise that "big booty hoe" is on your favorites.. lol! typical.. sorry but "big booty hoe" is not going to solve our problems so keep it where it belongs.. accross the atlantic..

  • @savannahblk It has little to do with skin color. Any nation with totalitarian government is susceptible to the same woes.

Case in point, Cuba, Venezuela, Cambodia, Tajikistan, etc. Even India, China, Philippines, etc. None of these are run by blacks, yet poverty is just as bad, if not worse there than it is in Nigeria. So, be fair.

Having said that, I'll also say that Nigeria needs to get its act together. The nation has incredible potential for greatness.

  • Fucking despicable place where justice don't exist. A country dat befall shame on all Africans & da continent. What a bunch of fucking morons living like zoo animals. Once met armed robbers in Ojuelegba 2am, befriended 1 to kill da aggression. Took his address & went to C him next day with no police and successfully persuaded him. His from Biafra, I'm Yoruba. Was very emotional 4me but dis are humans like U & me. He saw he could trust me unlike other 9yjas who'd turn-up with law enforcers.

  • your a bastard

  • @NigerianRocker I may be a bastard, but I speak the truth. I deal in facts. You don't like facts, I see.

  • hey there are other countries ruled by non blacks thats in total dismay dude...lol

    let us blacks be!!!

  • @NigerianRocker Of course there are. But most countries run by whites are just fine. ALL run by blacks have major problems. And afrocentrists say blacks are the superior race. HA!!!

  • no race is superior

but truth be told we have very unlikely brilliant people in africa but everybody expects blacks from africa to be stupid

but infact the greatest mathematicians come from africa.....

  • @NigerianRocker "the greatest mathematicians"????????? You are nuts. There has never been any black matematician equal to gauss, Fermat, Newton, laolace, galois....The top 100 of all time no blacks. There are 4000 mathematicians in the world today with Phds from accredited universities, less than 50 are black. Explain that.

  • No you are nuts!!!!

    oh fucking fuctard!!!

save your propaganda for yourself bitch

  • @NigerianRocker Ok, all you Afro-Centric "Blacks are superior" types, answer this: When Arabs and Europeans found Africans in the 1500s, they were living mud huts and throwing spears, much like pygmies today. How did this superior, advanced civilization go back to the stone age? hell, not even the stone age, more like the stick age. How did these "pyramid builders" forget all their technology and knowledge?

  • @NigerianRocker And You didnt answer the question, of course, there isnt a good answer.

  • @hannityforpres yes there is no answer for the reason for your existence,,lol

  • @NigerianRocker You think its funny that you cant answer the question, dont you? That was not an intelligent response.

  • @hannityforpres Is math the only barometer for measuring greatness?

But I can explain why there aren't that many phd's that are black.

Blacks are only starting out. The rest of the world started ages ago. Today, a disproportionate number of phd's in the USA are Nigerians. What does that tell you?

As for blacks in Africa, they may not have been mathematicians, but they have other powers you can't even imagine. If only the wizards among them would become teachers and share their knowledge.

  • @hannityforpres Your blatant insult also suggests your own low IQ.

The most educated group in the USA are Nigerians - more educated than Caucasians, Asians, Jews, etc.

Nigerians are some of the smartest people you would ever meet.

Unfortunately, as academically gifted as they are, greed exists at the highest levels of government. E.g. people with low IQ run the USA, and hence, the USA is going down the tubes. Do all Amerians therefore have low IQ?

  • @goldenmonica,. ur in denial and aljazera is doing a good job. things are not better. thepower situation is worse off. if you dont have anyrhing good to do go whistle!

  • My mom just came back after from nigeria after 2 years stay there and she promise not to go back into that daily blackout again

  • nigeria should concentrate on:

    1) sewage

    2) roads and mapping

    3) lease a telecom satellite

    4) Solar energy and wind turbines

    5) Water treatment plants

    6) Policing and correct laws (even for police)

    7) Factories for manufacturing (many of them)

    8) blueprints for everything

    9) Send hundreds of nigerians abroad to learn how to implement 21st century infrastructure and laws on 3- 5yr courses

  • arabs and blacks are independent to govern or manage their own affairs let-alone manage a country...I say bring the English and french back.

  • @oct1984 Never, when they are there what happens they create white priviledge where blk ppl endup in jails and killed for being innocent. You may not want to believe it but white ppl created the choas in the first place coz they didn't leave africa alone to develop at its own pace they kept and keep on interfering. When white ppl go to countries they only think about what they can steal. They initially help but in the back of their minds is greed always.

  • @MsFrittas is a truly sad thing in today's global knowledge of who people could build or manage or learn to develop their once country, but instead they continue blaming white people for their own brutality by giving dictators free hand to rule over them"you", only people that justify the blame game is those with narrow views, and an absent minded idealist.

  • I call my mother every night. Never has she said there is Power.

  • is terrible

  • look at when this video was posted in july of '08!!

come on, we dont know the initial update since then so stop these rants.

i heard it was getting better, not that great, but its not as bad as it used to be.

this video is old, unless AlJazeeraEnglish wants to update us. :)

  • hey i was just in Nigeria a couple of months ago...nothing has changed. My family and most people feel things are getting worse

  • Where did you stay? I was in Nigeria a month ago and things haven defiantly gotten better except the electricity of course.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually Nigeria has gotten better than it was in 2008. Everything else is better except the Electricity in Nigeria. It's gotten worse. A new group bought out Nepa and they are beyond worse than Nepa. The sad fact that same company(they call themselves Power holding company--gave themselves the right name) also is the electrical company for Ghana, and yet nigeria isn't getting that much electricity. Heck, i actually wished Nepa was the electrical company in Nigeria and that says alot.

  • Actually my cousins were one who told me the company also works for Ghana. IDK if that is true though but one thing i know for sure is the new company sucks big time. They need to be fired. Heck, i even told my cousins that Nigerians need to stop paying for electricity since they aren't receiving it. Heck, sometimes they give them half current, instead of full current. Sometime the light is on but it's so low that it can barely carry the fan, AC, t.v., etc so you might as well have no light

  • it's sucks big time and that was the main offense i had with that country. People are literally dying of heat in that country and idiotic government wouldn't do anything about it. That should be one of there main priority. The sad fact is the ppl are so afraid to stand up for their right. Well at least, i heard and saw some good things over there.

Goldenmonica, did you know they are starting to investigate Nigerian police? I jumped up and down when i read that in the news. Thank you God.

  • OMG!!! ifygurl, hey!! i've missed your comments on all the nigerian videos.

    thanks, wasnt aware of that.

    miss you! :)

  • ooh. I missed commenting too but School keep me busy 24-7. Barely have time for anything else. Sucks big time.

  • despite their oil and gas rich reserves but still no electricity no potable drinking water, brief it's a country that never function.

  • and u wonder why we are leaving the the country? our leaders dont care about us! thats why u can see nigerians in countries we are far better than. ITS REALLY SAD.

  • grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr yar aduaaaa common!!!

  • Many Nigerians will rejoice if Britain comes back only to supply electricity. This is a golden opportunity for Britain to drink oil to her fill

  • A beautiful people, burdened by inept, corrupt, and unpatriotic rulers. President Umaru Yar'Adua presides over a failed state. Nobody envies him.

  • Nigeria...Wat A dISGRACE OF A COUNTRY!

  • nigerians just dont give a fuck , when last did we protest against the govt both in nigeria or protest anywhere in world travel round n you will nigerians living as refugees in foriegn countries why?

  • It will cost all of 2 billion dollars to REWIRE the entire nation of Nigeria. That's the budget that's been allocated to dealing with this problem, but it's not the first time money has been thrown at the problem. Over the past decade, close to $16 billion has been poured into the energy sector in our country. And yet, we have no constant electricity.... HOW THE F8%K IS THAT POSSIBLE??? I KNOW! Some dumbass gov't leaders have that money stowed away in swiss accounts!

  • Bedeezeugo is part of the rich retarted expat community.....excuse the boy.

  • he said it all at 2.00. that is the problem, u cant fix anything if the leadership is not first fixed.

  • This mutilated documentary does not portray actual situation in Nigeria. 9 out of 10 Nigerians do not live below poverty level.

  • The documentary is really the truth, lets face it

  • nigeria lol

  • where did u see that data... 9 out of 10 lives on less than one dollar a day??? That's just no true.

  • Nigerians are poor. Our leaders are unelected, corrupt and oppress the people.Nigeria's best brains are forced overseas, yet we expect a miracle to make us develop.Nigeria is DEAD!God save us!

  • hey Nigeria is not poor, it just having the wrong people on top and mismanagement of fund, bersides its not dead, its youths like us have to take the bold step for a better change.

  • you cant believe everything you see and here in the western media.

    thats not true.

in that case, port harcourt would not be a thriving city like it is.

everyone loves port harcourt! its a lovely city. and people say its one the the livest too.

ive been there but only for a little less than 2 weeks. i only hit up one club while i was there. the club was hott! some fine naija guys too. lol

    one love, peace! :)

  • hey we are talking about power supply here, and you 'r talking abt club. if you 'r still there take some hours and visit some rural parts of Port and see for yourself.

  • i know how bad it is.

ive been to nigeria and ive seen it firsthand.

in fact i was living in the village, even worst. in my 7 week stay in nigeria we had light maybe twice a week and if we did have light it was for probably less than 3 hours. so most of the time we used a generator or just candles or lanterns.

and ALSO i was responding to somene's comment on how they say most nigerians live on less than 2 dollars a day. thats 300 naira and thats a lie!

  • lol, i code i'v seen the silly comment.

  • "i code i'v seen the silly comment."

i dont get it. i swear im lost.

    can you explain.

    lol

  • i mean i'v seen the comment you replyed to.

  • OHHHHH. lol

    okay i get you now.

the scene at 1:41 breaks my heart. why is the nigerian governement so mean to us? its because they hate and despise southerners.

they hate the igbos as well as everyone living in the niger delta.

im sooo scared for my people and my land, you dont understand. i think about it everyday.

    sigh...

  • lol, i understand 'cos it's also affecting me. they 'r just squandering and embezzling our fund for there own personal use, any way we hope for a better tomorrow though we need to stand up to achive our aim.

  • i dont see how 1% of the population can be holding more than 70% of nigeria's wealth.

i mean come on, all the money nigeria makes every year and we dont see a kobo of it.

i dont understand where all the money is going. there is no way that nigeria can be making 100s of billions if not trillions of naira every year but yet we dont see it.

    so sad...

  • thats the reason why we the youths should go into clean politics and retire all those bad eggs polluting the air and drawing us back economically.

  • i know.

but when one bad leaves another rotten one enters. its like a domino effect.

and since the northern nigerians outnumber the southern nigerians they always take seats up in office. the majority rules over there.

the hausa governemt are so corrupt! i wish there would just be one loyal president a REAL one that the people can trust to keep his word and not steal from its people. we need just that one great president to turn the country around.

  • lol thats the truth, but the fact is that we the Southners are also divided among ourselves. I'm just beliving that God has started working for us by putting confusion in their midst i mean the islamist and the sect, the talibans lol.

  • yeah and when i mean southerners i mean the people in the niger delta and igbo land.

there are at least 5 different tribes that exist in the niger delta.

but for the most part we are christians and the nigerian government is doing this to christians. im not saying only hausas are muslims but thats what the majoirty is in office.

    so sad...

  • i know, i was talking abt the northners just that i wasn't specific, yeah the 'r the majority in the office through the normal ridging, anyways God help us.

  • PLEASE GOD HELP US!! MY PEOPLE!

we let ignorance take control and befall us.

this comment isnt directed to but to anyone.

can someone please give me the names of all the districts in lagos.

i know ikeja, victoria island, ikoyi, idumota, lekki, maryland...

  • ANYONE from any part of Nigeria is capable of doing good or bad as is the case in any part of the world. Isnt it about time we stopped blaming each other? I am actually shocked that some of us still have this mentality, what example are we setting the next generation? And yet wonder why racism and other forms discrimination still exist.

  • Comment removed

  • "Northern Nigerians outnumber the southern Nigerians they always take seats up in office". Where have you been for last 10 yrs? as I recall Obasenjo (definitely not a northerner or is he?) was in power for two consecutive terms but yet not much improved whilst he was in office. Dont get me wrong am not claiming the hausa government as you distastefully put it isnt corrupt, my point is corruption is not limited by regional boundaries.

  • We as a nation need to move forward by working together, kicking out stereotypical views about each other and getting over our past failed leaders before Nigeria can be fixed. I dont mean to offend anyone with my comment.

  • yeah i agree.

tribalism and religion is why nigeria has failed to prosper.

but i still have hope in that nation.

  • I say do what rawling did in and kill all the leaders.

  • The leaders at the Federal level need to go. Fashola and Oshiomhole, the governors of Lagos and Edo States are the only two bright ones that we have.

  • tech4156 Can u please shut up! its rude to say some people are stupid

  • these nigerians are fucking stupid. they should stop oil and gas output until clients sort out the electricity, you cant do transport, business, media, manufacturing without electricity are they dumb???

  • ohhh yeah u are stupid! so if we stop exporting and selling, how do u think revenues come? or u should tell the government o stop using the money for their children and families instead.

  • Nigeria,oh naija.please God,help us.we dearly need heavenly intervention to solve this our loaded problems.please dear God,please come to our rescue, all this we ask you in Jesus christ name.....amen

  • u are the most dumbest person i've ever heard of in my whole time on youtube!

  • CHRIST! look at the friggen power line!! 1:35

  • perhaps u look at ur countries own.

  • My country has nice power lines... lol

  • pardon? lol hahahaha perhaps in down town arizona or new mexico or in the ghettos. lol u never will show that in ur news will u??

  • no fucking power lines in the us are that shitty.

    just a fact

  • lol, don't deny it, u beg and quene for food and fried chicken, u steal people resources. haha u are hungry

  • Of course Americans are fucking fat ass, disgusting pigs.

I was not talking about that though, i was just saying power lines here are nice, compared to the ones in the video.

...But of course you had to change subject, to "americans suck." Way to fail dude

  • Wow,

Thanks Haru Mutasa for your wonderful work on giving voice to those whose voice is never heard. We never hear of these power outages in Nigeria! I wonder why mainstream media never show the world about this. Nigeria is rich in oil, yet in the video people interviewed are stressed out with abject poverty! Who is getting Nigeria's oil while Nigeria's ordinary folk experience exploitation, a raw deal, power cuts, & abject poverty? WHO'S CONSUMING AFRICA'S OIL? This is HUMAN RIGHTS abuse!

  • Hausa people are the government for too long now!! make i see change quick.

  • f**ck young democracy see how money is been stolen everyday by this thieves (learders). One question, what does one gain for being NIGERIAN.

  • Sorry to say this i'm nigerian as well, Nigeria will contiune to be our hausa and yoruba leaders money savings, where they take money when ever they want. Yeah you can say i'm stupid, i tell u, i fink u are more stupid cause u allow where u come from blind u from the truth. See the so call EFCC WHY is it only hausas head it? 2. w

  • Nigeria will become a powerful nation in Africa by 2050. This is an inevitable problem, democracy is young and Nigerians are not stupid.

  • How does it takes South Africa to emerge after minority white rule!

  • I agree with this report. I discuss this same issue with my friend in nig today. its apalling that after 9 years of democracy, the wealth both human and natural resource there is still not regular power supply in nig. its a shame! NIGERIAN LEADERS, PAST AND PRESENT SHOULD BURY THEIR HEADS IN SHAME. OGA O

  • And I hear my black friends complaining about how the white men took them from africa...

once they saw this video it changed their minds lol

  • shut up asshole.

nigeria's got infrastructure problems ok. but we got the resources to solve them and we will in the next 5 years. asshole

  • Ok. Good for Nigeria and its citizens!!

    Good Luck

  • This is what my mother said. She visited Nigeria this summer and she said the roads are getting better but yet the electricity

    and food problem are not.

Hope Yaradua hurrys up and fix that.

  • really sad.

  • you really need to go get some ignorance out of you, talking about brains an average nigerian is twice as brilliant as an average american and over 70% of americans have no brain (av gat scars 2 prove it)and for technology- is it an american initiative? i dont think so.................

contact me in person, if you want to know more about nigerians and not just the bad side of the country

secondly i lived in nigeria for about 17 years so you constantly visiting makes no single sense, but if my i.q is 15 definately yours is 0.15

if a kindergaton pupil can sit my primitive ass down while 80% of the high school students can't make or complete a good sentence, then they need to swap places

you say my people live in shack houses while your people live beyound their means and end up with "foreclosur, repossesion, garnishment"

  • lol this guy u should really be ashamed to say this, are u black or what? I mean if we can't solve it, do u mean u want a white person to solve the problem? lol this really is shameful from a black person

  • people = leaders

    Better people = better leaders.

  • I disagree with your premise.

  • how do people equal leades.. if it were true then the US, Nigeria, or where ever else around the world wouldnt have so many problems

  • Would it help if Nigeria nationalized its oil?

  • If Nigeria nationalized its oil, suddenly they would be as evil as Hugo Chavez and be part of the axis of evil.

  • my thoughts exactly.. so its like a lose, lose. but if it were done atleast the people might be better off ubtil some western govt decides to sanction or invade

  • Nigeria and the US, both have leadership vacuums... and shall we say, corruption problems?

  • yeah but atleast you can see Nigerias corruption problems.. ours are so deeply dugg in we may never see the real corrupt forces messing up our country and controling the world

  • I agree with the man in the suit. We have not been blessed with leaders. The money is available. Instead of Nigeria relying on the dam, why don't they channel some of the money toward generating electricity with coal and natural gases which we have in abundance?

It will take some time before we get the electricity problem under control.
