I hope so too. I grew up in East Chicago but I"m in Kansas City now. The only way we're going to save Gary and my home town is to bring jobs back. Gary ( like East Chicago )was once a very prosperous in steel along with other industries. When the mills and factorys shut down the city went down with it. No jobs = broke people = broke people = no money to spend and crime = no money to spend and getting robbed = bad business , so they all packed up and left.

I was born in Gary and what happened there is the same thing that has happened in a lot of once thriving urban cities. When the biggest industries and businesses left and went elsewhere, what's left??? Its the same in Detroit, in certain areas of Chicago and other cities, so quit acting like what happened to Gary is an isolated incident because its not. I remember the days when Gary was on point, just like other booming cities and now its not. Its no different. Quit with the hate already!

@indigirl86 I to was born in Gary. the year was 1944. My father was also born there. I have returned to Gary. Not blaming the people for the way it is now. blame falls on those in office. Taxes on US Steel and high union pay, forced the steel mill to close. once they started to shut down so did Gary. Start to rebuild Broadway one street at a time, for bussiness. With LOW taxes, and LOW rent on buildings. Watch the turnaround.

Don't thank God for the comeback of Gary -- thank the hard work of its citizens, who deserve credit for helping such a troubled community. Beautiful! Gary is the place where I was taught values and what was really imporatnt in life. I hope so too. I grew up in East Chicago but I"m in Kansas City now. The only way we're going to save Gary and my home town is to bring jobs back. Gary ( like East Chicago )was once a very prosperous in steel along with other industries. When the mills and factorys shut down the city went down with it. No jobs = broke people = broke people = no money to spend and crime = no money to spend and getting robbed = bad business , so they all packed up and left.

I was born in Gary and loved this video. Not for what Gary is, but what it could have been. There's alot of potential in Gary. BTW, I'm a white guy who still enjoys buying hot dogs from Chuck Wheeler in the Village Shopping Center on Grant Street. It's still better than hanging out with Porter County white trash.
