  • Ok so... House on it's side. Is the sim sideways or the house? How do you walk on the walls if it's not the sim?

  • @lmart16 House on side. Sitting on a prim with a custom sit that looks like I'm standing on the wall (or "floor"). :)

  • name of the song?

  • @Nightmare3922 Propane Nightmares by Pendulum

  • Mirrors in SL would add interesting ambiance to the interiors of buildings. Imagine one-way-glass.... and dance studios heh.... Youre right though, the technology is already there, they even coded distortion and refraction to bend and twist the pixels to simulate surface movement.... that seems more complicated than a simple flat surface hehehe..... Im glad you made this video. Nice thinking on the whole "standing sideways" idea, real thoughtfull

  • Very Cool, now if a vampire enters the room does it show a reflection? Great video I really like the idea of a mirror in Sl..thanks for this

  • Of course any builder worth their salt would immediately see that the z axis on the objects being edited is not going up/down but front/back.

  • Very clever!, wich enviroment settings do you have to set up to achieve that level of reflection?

  • @WeebieProductions Linden Lab. The company that created Secondlife.

  • I knew that would be water! lol

  • Ah hah!

I knew I knew you from somewhere.

    This vid is legendary.

    lolz.

  • good very good job and i got it too. tks you so much for this nicest video.

  • how to get the flycam thing? cool.

  • Ive finally figured out how to do this. Turns out i didn't have reflections turned on :P

  • Man, i like this, i also try this trick!

Will be great if LL use the same engine to create mirrors!

  • lol he is obesed with mirrors, but its still awesome

  • Totally obsessed with mirrors, guilty as charged. :D

  • Ya, me too. If they can make water reflect, why not certain objects. :P I want a mirror so badly. XD

  • holy shit

  • So..hang on... Did you used a viewer right? Does the viewer remove all camera restrictions? I can't seem to obtain a 90 degree camera angle.

  • When you use a joystick or 3d mouse to control the camera, you can obtain any angle you want (3 positional axis and 3 rotational) Sadly for some reason they didn't add this functionality to standard camera controls. It's in any viewer, though.

  • By any viewer, you mean Linden viewers? Or other viewers like Emerald.

  • Any.. Edit > Preferences > Input & Camera > Joystick Setup

  • Thanks, I'm working on it now.

  • Umm sorry one more thing, I'm actually pretty inexperienced with a joystick. How exactly do you rotate the camera view on a 90 or 180 degree angle?

  • That's the Roll axis. So you'll need to set one of your joystick's axis to match the one for Roll. Then twisting your joystick in that direction will roll the camera.

  • So does the rotation occur in joystick flycam then?

  • Sorry but reflections in SL isn't possible... yet, especially with "basic shaders" Well done though, great trick and great video. It's a shame there really isn't alot of quality SL videos on here.

  • Nice trick, but its not like something you came up with, i did that since there was wind and the water did that on full detail :P

YOur kindah late..but nevertheless still neat trick.

  • Awesome mirror! But standing on the walls is shinier shiny thing than a mirror. GIMME!

  • That is freaking awesome Adeon!

  • Cool! 5 stars! BTW add me on Second Life: Elite Runner

  • i remember back when the reflections was just starting to be played with, you could get reflections in shiny objects, they took that out.

  • We've bin begging for use of the Water shader on prims for over a year now jsut Give it to us allredy :p

  • Really awesome! I just tried this myself, but the mirror image looks very grainy. Any ideas?

  • How do you rotate the SL camera like that?

  • The joystick flycam gives you full control over the camera. I use a SpaceNavigator, but any joystick/gamepad/3dmouse can do it.

  • LOL ahhh sneaky sneaky! Very clever indeed, but as you said, way too much trouble to go through. XD

  • Adeon! you clever fox!

  • What's the song?

Also, it sucks my computer can't handle this. :P

  • I suppose there are a few issues when wanting reflective surfaces in SL, for one:

How do you deal with multiple mirrors and the infinite-reflection effect?

  • Typically, when anything can be rendered recursively, there's an option to control the maximum amount of recursions, or in this case, the maximum levels of mirror-in-mirror before the rest remains black.

  • *facepalm*

    D'oh

    shoulda seen it coming.

  • hah!

  • Very clever!

  • LOL You have made my day.... thank you..... This is both ingenious and super funny....

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHA

    *claps*

  • Gaaaa OF COURSE! :D

  • Had me going too! Loved the ending.

  • YOU ROCK!~! LOL!

  • AW YOU HAD ME GOING THERE FOR A MINUTE!

  • Rofl.
