idk when genres started being defined by technicalities, but it gets fucking annoying.

with all the specific musical techniques people seem to point out, each artist, or even album or song, might as well be characterized on its own, and it seems like the people doing it are just showing off that they are familiar with this relatively new and unknown style.

maybe its just me, but id rather listen to the damn stuff and find more kickass producers than waste my time arguing about it.

This is definitely dubstep. As for iabaca, I can't quite recommend you anything as bad as "mt eden" but there are too many artists to name. Mala, widdler, pangaea, sub focus, flux pavilion, bar9, sully, martyn, synkro, and many more have quite a few "chill" tracks. Just check some of those out and artists similar to them I guess. I'm going to try to start uploading much more varied tracks.

The algorithms for capturing the essense TEND to be 140 bpm, A drop and heavy bass - that doesn't mean all tracks with this algorithm will capture the Dubstep sound. DNB is 165+, dubstep is 140/70 depending on how you look at it. dirty south is 75-85. break-beat, like most house is 125-130. it's the 2-step beat style that makes it "dubstep" only other genre that matches bpm is bassline. i see 3 distinct categories forming: reggae/oldschool dubstep, club dubstep & newschool filth/grime dubstep
