The only problem I am having it that my cursor isnt showing up as the "ship" even after rendering it in a .swf preview. I tried putting the MovieClip on the AS3 layer, but when I do that the new cursor only shows up while hovering over the MovieClip. If you could clear up how to get the cursor to work it would be great!

i have one little suggestion for your project: i think it's a good idea to remove the temporary bitmaps once they reach alpha 0, or else there would be huge amount of bitmaps on stage(although we can't see them)

What is the best book to get for a complete beginner to start learing game coding?

I looked at Actionscript for beginners, but it looks like that is for movies.

Flash CS3 for dummies is mainly about web design and animations.

Im really stuck, because i want to get started, but don't know how, please help! :))

cool tut. ive always done this the normal addChild into array way xD. i bet this if way more friggin optimised as its bitmap data plus u can tint it. jus 2 questions

1) Why make a movieclip to store the ship? Why not jus addChild to stage?

2) A tutorial on how to fade into a tint?
