There's a big difference between what you can write, and what you can do in a talk, and I don't think I took that on board enough - it was way too dense. The jokes were awful too. Tough crowd.
Great T-shirt though. I can't find it anywhere. I think my laundry's been raided by Castroites.
What I thought was me trying to put Marx's case in his own words looked a bit like Bible study.
I should definitely have cut and pasted all of the quotes into my text rather than relying on books as props. Too much flicking around, and humming and hawing. A lectern would have been very nice. Leaning over the table looks awful.
I'm still not sure I got my point across properly. I think I put too much stuff in, didn't translate all of the Marxism out of the German effectively enough, and certainly should have had a whole summer school on the early Marx before even attempting it - there was far too much ellipsis. Basically, I knew the context of what I was saying, but didn't put nearly enough context in, to the point that some of it was downright inscrutable.
This is a really good presentation, thanks for uploading. Is he the official Marxist fraction of the SPGB ; ) I was wondering about the 'Che' t-shirt to start with as any decent communist is against bourgeois national liberation but then the camera zoomed in!

I'll try to do better in my talk this year.

Well my talk was successful in one regard, I suppose - I experience disgust and alienation with my current conditions when seeing myself on video :-)
