Federally mandated healthcare is unconstitutional. Requiring citizens to purchase goods or services from private organizations subjects us to involuntary financial servitude to those organizations and therefore violates the 13th Amendment. (I would argue that it would effectively enslave us to those companies.) Note that this rant is limited to the jurisdiction of the federal government. It doesn't include specific states.

As a follow-up, my Mother just had to have brain surgery as a result of a fall. She is 89 years old. Her surgery was entirely covered by MEDICARE. Fact. "SamRose 1940" may say he has "proof" of the debunked-brain surgeons claims, but this is another case of people ignoring facts. First, this guy has been debunked several times by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS). Second, even if it were true, it would simply put Medicare on par with private health insurance, which make such "death panel" decisions alllllll the time.
If this is true, the language being referred to will not be found in the language of the law or in the actual bill passed. This type of detail will be found in the regulations, policies, and procedures set forth by HHS. That IS in the law. The devil is always in the details and Congress failed to look at or restrict the details of Obamacare before passing it.

Read the statement issued by American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) debunking this call, and even stating that this is harmful. They have even asked the show to remove this podcast from their website, but with no success. So much for Truth!
I can see where emergency/trauma surgeons might be doing fix-its at 2 AM in the morning, but it seemed rather odd for this gentleman to keep referring to that particular time of day to be doing surgery - specifically on patients over 70. I guess it's possible... I don't know too many however, that plan their surgeries at that time of day...

The caller claims that the gov't has age based rules. He does not claim that CNS or AANS does. So the CNS/AAMS disavowel of this caller's claim in no way refutes it because the caller refers to the gov't, not the neurosurgical bureaucracy. Is that clear?

That is what is disputed by AANS/CNS. Parsing the various shadings of meaning of disavow/deny knowledge of/unaware of is not the issue. The issue is: were these guidelines discussed at the conference? AANS/CNS say No.

They quoted the AANS/CNS saying that they know nothing about it. The caller to the radio show is the one making the apparently false claim that the document exists and was presented at conference. Stroke Therapy? It is called "CVA Rehabilitation". Lay term can be "Stroke Rehabilitation Therapy", but no Neurosurgeon I know calls it stroke therapy. The "therapy" is specific to Physical Therapists and not something that a Neurosurgeon will do any more than recommend. The other thing is that operations are seldom performed on CVA's unless the blockage can be localized. That is treatment not therapy. This guy needed to be vetted before he was put on the air.

They have requested that podcast be removed from Mark Levin’s website - it portrays inaccurate information which could potentially be harmful to patients.
Has anyone heard Levin clarify this, accurately, on his show? It's not good enough for all of us to discover the truth and share it just with those who read the comments. Levin should make a point of revealing the truth on air if he prefers to have credibility rather than popularity. He knows his audience and they may not tune in if they hear the truth too often.

It costs too much: Over $1 trillion in initial costs AND $300 billion in increased spending per year. The Supreme Court is likely to strike it down, or a new President and Congress will repeal it. I can't have the surgery because that would mean 4 months off of work. With no earnings, I won't be able to pay the monthly premiums which in the end would mean I couldn't afford the surgery in the first place.

Agreed: health insurance, whether paid for by the individual or the individual's employer, and 'cradle to grave healthcare' are two different topics. And neither of them exist in a vacuum. Any change in or movement towards either of them will have significant effects in other areas of society and the economy, some of them unexpected.

Federally mandated healthcare is unconstitutional. Requiring citizens to purchase goods or services from private organizations subjects us to involuntary financial servitude to those organizations and therefore violates the 13th Amendment. (I would argue that it would effectively enslave us to those companies.) Note that this rant is limited to the jurisdiction of the federal government. It doesn't include specific states.

As a follow-up, my Mother just had to have brain surgery as a result of a fall. She is 89 years old. Her surgery was entirely covered by MEDICARE. Fact. "SamRose 1940" may say he has "proof" of the debunked-brain surgeons claims, but this is another case of people ignoring facts. This type of detail will be found in the regulations, policies, and procedures set forth by HHS. That IS in the law. The caller claims that the gov't has age based rules. He does not claim that CNS or AANS does. So the CNS/AAMS disavowel of this caller's claim in no way refutes it because the caller refers to the gov't, not the neurosurgical bureaucracy. Is that clear?

The issue is: were these guidelines discussed at the conference? AANS/CNS say No.

Stroke Therapy? It is called "CVA Rehabilitation". Lay term can be "Stroke Rehabilitation Therapy", but no Neurosurgeon I know calls it stroke therapy. The "therapy" is specific to Physical Therapists and not something that a Neurosurgeon will do any more than recommend. The other thing is that operations are seldom performed on CVA's unless the blockage can be localized. That is treatment not therapy. This guy needed to be vetted before he was put on the air.

It costs too much: Over $1 trillion in initial costs AND $300 billion in increased spending per year. The Supreme Court is likely to strike it down, or a new President and Congress will repeal it. My doctor wants me to have surgery on my leg which would put me in bed for four months, but here's the irony.
I can't have the surgery because that would mean 4 months off of work. With no earnings, I won't be able to pay the monthly premiums which in the end would mean I couldn't afford the surgery in the first place.
So no surgery I say.

Healthier individuals, whether deadbeats or 'livebeats',for want of a better term, are less of a drain in the long run, simply because they're healthier.And healthier people by definition need less medical attention.Even w/ two to four office visits/yr. one ER visit can cost more than 2 yrs worth of office visits.

ER care is the most expensive and least efficient kind of care, and we all pay for it already thru increased premiums. Our country is not a bottomless pit that can serve all. There is a break-even point in every business and the government has to prioritize and spend the taxpayers contributions in order to get the most bang for our buck. It may sound heartless and cruel but those are the economics of healthcare and how that heathcare is paid for. This is nothing new and it has always been done this way.
