@swuzz17 the thing apple did right with the iphone is that they made it smart and easy to opperate, it was allso one of the first smart phones on the market. the thing with htc is that its smarter but it is allso harder to opperate and that is probably why people think that the iphone is better, but saying that the iphone is smarter isnt true because they are pretty equal in ways of hardware and such.

Have you heard that Android is the top selling platform in the world. Androids OS is so much better than Apples OS. Apple needs to get out of the apple dome and become more open to the user. Also Android holds more market share in the US than any other platform combined. Android is going to become the phone of choice come 2012, apple needs to come up with a plan to survive.
if you compare the i phone with the htc desire HD you will find that the i phone just cannot compete, i phone boatst about the best screen resolution .. well thats because they only have a 3.5 inch size screen , not hard to get that resolution on a small screen now is it, other phones are working with bigger screens and getting near enough same resolution and effects. not to mention the internet and the fact you are so restricted on the iphone . sorry but you need to get your facts right

i cant believe you gusy are so biased and stupid to be blunt, why on earth have you compared the iphone to the htc desire . the htc desire is to be compared with the iphone 3gs and the desire wins against that phone. then the iphone 4 came out with slightly better specs but the iphone is crushed by the likes of the samsung galaxy s and the new htc desire HD which is the best phone out at the moment. you need to get your comparrisons correct and compare devices in the same league as eachothe
I own both devices cause I develop for both markets and personally prefer to carry the Desire with me when I'm on the road or at work. But when it comes to using your phone as jukebox, video player or camera, I definitely prefer my IPhone. The "freedom argument" is also definitely noticeable if you're a power user, without Jailbreaking your IPhone you're quite limited in certain areas where you get more options with Android.
It depends on your wallet (in Europe you get the Desire at almost half the price without a contract) and what you want to do with your phone. If you want a "workhorse" kind of smartphone which you won't be sorry to handle a bit more roughly, the Desire's your choice. If you care mainly about multimedia (gaming, sound quality, camera, video playback, ...) and design, the IPhone's definitely your thing.

BTW - Angry Birds has just come out on Android in Beta. While this might seem trivial, it's a really good example of how developers are becoming increasingly aware that they're missing a huge chunk of the market by sticking with the iPhone.
android is very much on the way up, its sold more in the last year and gained more market share than any other company. this claim was true even before samsung showed their phonomenol support for android. there are over 5 handsets for release this year on samsung and its really paying off in terms of sales. htc have also made a huge impact with android aswell as motorola. so i think really this huge support and user market for android is just getting bigger and you will se better quality soon
