The simple question is, does the Constitution specifically state that same sex couples CAN NOT get married. IF not, then gays are free to apply for marriage licenses. When they are denied, gays ask why. When they are told that it is against the law, they challenge the law. When the legal system looks to the Constitution to back up the anti gay marriage law, it fails to state that Gay Marriages violate the Constitution. SO, the ONLY LEGAL way to ban gay marriage is by Constitutional Amendment.

There is so much fuss about Marriage. HEY! Look at a marriage license. You get a marriage license from a government office. You can get married by a Justice of the Peace, a Judge, a Mayor, or the captain of a ship. A government issued license is required to get married. A clergy is not required to get married. Therefore; marriage is primarily legal not religious.

I am heterosexual but I just can not imagine even a liberal family will have hard time......I am used to being around gay friends due to my former office mate being openly gay.....Actually there are no difference working with gay or non-gay.

I went to a party at one gay couple's house and the house looked like a museum and when I checked one closet, my mouth dropped - A closetfull of well pressed T-shirts each in separate hanger color leveled from white to between colors till black! It would only be unequal if gay men were NOT allowed to marry a woman.

The simple question is, does the Constitution specifically state that same sex couples CAN NOT get married. IF not, then gays are free to apply for marriage licenses. When they are denied, gays ask why. When they are told that it is against the law, they challenge the law. When the legal system looks to the Constitution to back up the anti gay marriage law, it fails to state that Gay Marriages violate the Constitution. There is so much fuss about Marriage. HEY! Look at a marriage license. You get a marriage license from a government office. You can get married by a Justice of the Peace, a Judge, a Mayor, or the captain of a ship. A government issued license is required to get married. A clergy is not required to get married. Therefore; marriage is primarily legal not religious.

I dont care if he is gay. He has every right to be in the military. He loves his partner and you can tell. Im Korean American and I know how tough it is to come out of closet when you have Korean parents.

@xlongyujax I am a Korean American and I can not imagine telling parents about being gay. I am heterosexual but I just can not imagine even a liberal family will have hard time......I am used to being around gay friends due to my former office mate being openly gay.....Actually there are no difference working with gay or non-gay.

I went to a party at one gay couple's house and the house looked like a museum and when I checked one closet, my mouth dropped - A closetfull of well pressed T-shirts each in separate hanger color leveled from white to between colors till black! The next closet was dress shirts and the next one was slacks and the next one was jackets etc.! LoL I am a Tom-boy so I haven't seen anything like that before.....

Just sharing my thoughts. It seems like people always claim that gays choose to be gay. I can't choose to become gay right now, nor could a gay person choose to be strait. I feel so sorry for Dan Choi's parents. They are probably devastated and embarassed because their son is a pervert. Why do gays always have to be such media whores? It wasn't enough for Dan Choi to just come out to his family he had to announce it to the whole world and humiliate his father who is a minister in the Korean church. Back in 2000 under Prop 22, when gay marriage first erupted in public, it was 61.44% that was against gay marriage. Now its 52%. You just wait till next year.

I still don't understand how the Catholic, Mormon and Evangelical churches can claim "freedom of religion" when their support of Prop 8 means that MY church that SUPPORTS gay marriage can't perform them....how is that 'freedom of religion'? Why is my churches freedom taken away by the prejudices of another church? it's not like Synagogues are banning Christians from eating pork. I did. He offered to give us our own drinking fountains because he realises that we've chosen to be black and not white and that we get thirsty, just like white people do, but he doesn't think we should be allowed to use THEIR drinking fountains. He thinks we have the right to have our own separate ("but equal") drinking fountains....but we can't call them 'drinking fountains', because that's THEIR word, so we can call them "water dispensers".

There are no "woman's rights', there are no "gay rights" there are ONLY human rights, and having them extended to minority groups that have been denied Equality.
Marriage was about a man owning a woman. Not love.
And for a long time marriage meant "one white man, one white woman". Does that mean it should have stayed that way since it was around first, and longer? I have yet to hear one intelligent reasonable argument against letting LGBT people Marry.

Anyway, laws barring interracial marriage were separate and distinct from actually changing the definition itself. This is partially why the laws were struck down (because 'marriage' historically never mentions race).
There are many ways to argue in favor of gay marriage. Unfortunately, rewriting history is not one of them.

The equality argument is a phony one. The laws treat everyone equally, and in fact gay people can get married today. ANY man (gay or straight) can marry a woman, but no man (gay or straight) can marry a man. The law makes no distinction. Now if you want to change existing laws or pass new legislation, then that can mostly definitely be debated, but gays are already treated equally. It would only be unequal if gay men were NOT allowed to marry a woman.

A straight couple in love is allowed to marry, because they're biologically heterosexual: they can marry the person they're in love with because they belong to the biggest part of society, and the world is made for them.

Do you have any idea what LGBT have to go through in order to just live OPENLY in their lives? They have to face hatred, and horrific bigotry every day. Many are disowned by their families. 1 in 3 attempt suicide in their youth, and early adulthood. You grow up knowing that who you are is "lesser" and something to be ashamed of.
