  • A paralysis tick just killed one of my beautiful cats today, here on the Australian NSW Northern Beaches. Her name was Mitten and she was 12 or so years old but looked like a kitten. She was very small and had a squeaky meow :)

I found her yesterday in the gutter, unable to move her body at all. I felt the tick as soon as I picked her up. I pulled the tick out immediately and rushed her to the vet, but she passed away early this morning.

  • i feel like stuff is crawling on me now

  • i used to live in the woods and go hunting and camping alot so i cant count how many ticks ive had. one thing i noticed is if you pull the tick out, the head remains behind- under the skin which makes it itch like hell.

  • Here in California they hungry! Summer time, they like to hitch for rides

  • Just used this video to remove a small tick that just got on my 6 year old daughter, my first tick so I was a little freaked out, but followed your directions & worked like a charm. Thank you for posting this !!!!!

  • I once had one on my butt... True story

  • What happens If we don't do it with a slow movement?

  • Hi, I've been taught to remove ticks in an anti-clockwise fashion to prevent the tick's head from becoming lodged in the host's body. Is this incorrect or is this another method?

    Help much appreciated, thanks!

  • hate ticks came back from a three night walk once and had 7 in me

  • Thank you, I found one on my dog for the first time and safely removed it.

  • EWWW.

  • a tick? where i come from they call them woodticks. and i've had alot of these and they dont hurt

  • I can't believe how many people never had a tick before. Here in South Jersey (in the Pine Barrons) all you have to do is walk within a few feet of the under-brush and you'll get at least half a dozen of them. And then Chiggers in the late summer near damp grassy area's, you'll get hundreds, maybe thousands, of those damn things.

  • Screw you ticks! Thanks to you, I got friggin lyme disease!

  • I found half a tick in my hair once. It was a weird camp-site.

  • does it hurt when you pull them off

  • how big is a tick?

  • @Katekangaroo141 Some are almost microscopic, some are the size of a match head, and some are the size of your thumb. Different species for different sizes. It isn't the bite that's bad, it's the diseases.

  • @Katekangaroo141 smaller than an ant... so good luck using tweezers!

  • @Katekangaroo141 it depends on what kind of tick... they look like tiny spiders..

  • @Katekangaroo141 about the size a a bb but can fill up and get almost as big as a marble...

  • @Katekangaroo141 depends... could be the size of a thumb nail. while not filld with blood

  • @Katekangaroo141 i found one in my dog's ear once and it was twice as big as my thumbnail. when i removed it using two bottlecaps like (beer caps) it squeled. ery disgusting.

  • @Katekangaroo141 1mm but if you leave it for more than 2 weeks is will be 5mm

  • I've had 2 tick bites in the past...ugh.

  • Hard to find that here on humans, but dogs get them every single summer, nasty search

  • For some reason ticks only bite the top of my head

  • I once had a tick stuck in the corner of my eye :l

  • i got one of those in mexico they hurt when u remove them like a bitch

  • how do you get ticks?? I am kinda curious now. I have never encountered this one before!!!

  • I had one on my leg when I was 7. I have never seen one so I thought it was a spider. I tried swatting it off then my mom removed it she told me it was a tick. I didn't freak out until I found out it was a tick.

  • My dog had a tick infestation we pulled them of use tick collars, tick baths and tick meds i think they are all gone but when ever I find one I light the little sucker on fire and watch it squirm on fire:)

  • I was snuggling up to my Dog(Pitbull, Brown) when I noticed She had a White Corn Kernel stuck to her. I Tried taking it off, but it didn't work. Thought it was stuck with something Sticky. Got some Tweezers & when I pulled it out...

    NOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPE

I threw that fucker off my pup & stomped on it for approximately 3 Min.

She wagged her tail & started licking that spot for 10Min. Ever since, she's been a LOT more friendlier to me than anyone in my family.

  • well, thats me scratching all night, when i stop screaming!

  • I got one on my leg when I was about 10, pulled it off, pretty sure the head was still attached but never had any issues.

  • where do ticks live? ive neverseen one before....lol

  • The head is still stuck what do I do now?

  • Never had one

  • never had on hopefully I won't ... quick knock on wood

  • i have a tick on my cat, is this the same with cats?

  • Had loads of these little bastards on me on the West Coast of Scotland in the Highlands.

  • SCARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • keep on rockin' guys, wnt to see more from you…

  • This looks like a stress reliever to me somehow :/

  • what wait why dose this video have dislikes????? do people not like removing parasites?? or are they tick collectors ??? or do they not like CVS??? or do they not like actually pulling of a tick the right way??? EXPLAIN YOURSELVES

  • my dog nala has ticks and we pull atleast 2 offof her a day

  • happened to me twice....... =(

  • i just pulled one from my neck

  • Pointy tick removal tweezer (available only at CVS)

  • I know it was just a simulation, but was I the only one that wen't "Ahhhhh..." when the simu-tick was removed?

  • @aj502 Yes you were the only one.

  • so this is bloodsucker right?

  • @TheBByamashiro Yes, and it can cause horrible diseases.

  • i got a tick on my, you know. no joke. i was hiking in costa rica and it went up my shorts. noticed it in the shower later... no lie im serious

  • @theblissster Entirely believable...that area is nice and warm with lots of blood flow, ticks love...that area. *shudder*

  • I had a tick on my belly. I was flipping upside down and my shirt flopped down and revealed the thick. That was when i was about 6

  • High quality pointy tick removers.... Semms Legit..

  • isnt that ring around it one of the first signs that lime disease is present?

  • What happens when he doesn't let go?

  • Based on comments, it's clear that many people still foster hope for the folk remedy of touching the tick with a hot object to make it detach. Please take a look at "how NOT to remove a tick" on TickEncounter/education/how_not_to_remove_a_tick for reasons this is incorrect.

  • @TickEncounter wait so if you use a hot object to remove the tick its bad if so my dad is WRONG

  • if u burn them, it will just hold on you harder then what it was before, so i recommend not burning them, save the tick and go to your doctor, show the doctor the tick to make sure you don't have any disease.

  • In Sweden we have these all over the place. It's disgusting. I usually get bitten 3-5 times every summer.

  • dude u just need tweesers lol

  • Cool!!!!!@so cool

  • Put some ice on them and they remove their heads out after some seconds. The easiest way :)

  • I had a tick awhile ago it hurt like he'll wen I took it off, I still have the scar from were it was 7 years ago.

  • i had tick behind my ear luckely my friend saw himXD

  • the best way is to touch their ass with a lit cigarette. but ONLY ONCE. Then WAIT!! the burn to her ass will cause her to get out. You don't want to keep burning her as you might kill it while embedded.

The shown example in this video works but NOT always. the head might Tear off and the proboscis still buried.

  • i thank your tutorial good help me :)

  • Ticks in brazil are tiny and invisible to the naked eye

  • I found one in my armpit once, had to twist and pull. Then I put it in two plastic bags, dumped it into the toilet, and flushed. Another time there was one on my cat, so my mom's friend came over and pinched it's head. Then we popped it. -=D Burn in hell ticks.

  • i got rocky mountain spotted fever from one of these little fuckers

  • as close to the head as possible, but not on the head?

  • @sakykBzz Sometimes the head isn't visible, so they say as close as possible which means the closest you can get would include the head if you're able to get the tweezers on the head. They show the tweezers in the most common spot people will be able to grab if the tick has embedded itself. But if he's shallow, it's OK to grab the head with the tweezers.

  • Wait why would it hurt taking it out? Isn't it like taking out a splinter? I don't know... TELL ME WHY?! now i scared :c

  • This video missed out that you need to keep the tick carefully after removal, so that if any fever develops you can take the tick for analysis when you seek medical aid. Keep a suitable little packet or other container with your tweezers or other tick removal tool so that you have this to hand when needed, and be sure to label it with name of patient and the date.

  • when i was little threre was something on my leg and it was realy itchy and i pulled with my hand and only the body came off then i screamed and my mom had to take off the head

  • Thanks for the vid. It was a little uncomfortable but the sucker is gone. Phew!

  • I had a tick. It was annoying but when it gets pulled off, it doesn't hurt.

  • My mom got lyme disease from being bitten by a tick :(

  • haha!!!!!once i had one in my Belly Button!!!!!

  • @skunkwithagun me 2

  • i had a tick once. it was on the almost top of my head, and my grandmother saw it and tried to pull it out with her nails. it HURT SO MUCH! the she got my aunt to help since she couldn't get it out. it finally did, but im not always wary of ticks.

  • Sweet God damn this is one youtube tutorial I hope I never need

  • @ntzooka I've had like 3...you've never gotten a tick? I pulled it off with my fingers and it got infected lol...but all good, I didn't die.

  • @ntzooka if u live in Sweden and actualy go outside u will have to do that a couple of times a year. tho if u check for them they will e tiny when found (thank god)

  • @ntzooka do you live in the city? i live on long island and ticks are so common here in the summer removing a tick is like popping a zit

  • @ntzooka Yes, ticks do indeed suck. Pun semi-intended.

  • I thought God is good so why does he have to give us bad animals and stuff to us humans like mosquitos, ticks, and rats.

  • Hey TickEncounter what do you do when you pull the tick but the head pop's off and it's stuck in the skin what do you do then?

  • dose it hurt :(

  • @XxXxlondon nope

  • what happens when a tick is still on ur skin after 24 hours?

  • @Mats900ie u can possibly get disease such as lyme disease

  • I once got an award for most ticks.

  • then smash it I hate the little bastards I spent a hour removing 8 of them

  • This explains what I had on my leg after coming home from 8th grade nature/science field trip. 0.0

  • The manual that i need!

  • can anybody tell me where ticks are found? this video made me curious if i have them in my backyard

  • O.o

  • I never had a tick in my life but do they really stick on you like that? It took him more than 6 seconds for that dude to pull it out

  • Grossssssssssssssssssssss

  • And once you get it off the skin, stab that little bastard. :D

  • after that smash the blood sucking thing

  • after i removed one i squashed that bastard

  • my dog is getting these green seed looking ticks that are attaching to her ears and around her neck and i tried using a burnt match but they just dont want to come out so we pullo them out with tweezers but i want to know wat species of tick this is and how dangerous it is. btw it has verry tiny legs and a black spot behind its head

  • why does every time i come to watch some music videos i end up watching some creepy

  • i thought u just burn them off

  • @Bubba93000 thats leeches

  • @Bubba93000 yep

  • @Bubba93000 yeah youre supposed to.

  • @Bubba93000 if you try to burn them off you risk the possibility of them, spitting back w/e they have gotten in,with their burn intestines, thing u dont want.Yes,army does teach you things ;-P

(soz for my possible bad grammar :S )

  • i have had 6 ticks on me before!!!

  • Thanks.

I used your procedure and I was able to get it out. A little skin came with it but I believe it all came out.

  • i never saw a tick before .

  • i HATE these lyme bugs

  • I thought you had to turn it anti-clockwise so the teeth don'y stay behind and cause infection.

  • EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

  • i chop off ticks head then rip it off im staying with mine

  • Ew.

  • I was taught by some guys in the military the way to remove a tick is to use a wood match. Light it, blow it out, slowly count to 10 and just touch its rear end with the end of the match. The tick wind its way out by itself. The trick is to NOT use a hot match but just warm enough to shock the tick into removing itself. We used to do this on our dogs also.

  • I just removed a tick from my leg. I dont think it had been stuck so long. but it was quite hard to pull it out. and i failed and a few times and just broke the back thing. and when i finally got it out. i saw the legs but was too afraid to get a closer look at it too see if everything was on it. so i looked at the leg. only saw an extreamly small dark dot. could that be a part of the head or just alittle blood? was hardly noticeable. been an hour now. it just slightly pink around there now?

  • @jagmej Its the head. You have to get that out.

  • From my reasearch, 70-80% of those with Lyme disease will exhibit the red, bulls eye rash around the bite area within 30 days of the bite. (I didn't)

Great video on tick removal! I'm being treated for Lyme disease and/or other tick-borne illness at the moment, so I'm trying to perfect my tick removal technique. Here in North Central Florida we have ticks galore. As a hiker/backpacker, I've removed dozens.

  • Those little beep faces...

  • I removed a tick off the back of my boyfriends neck two days ago...is it normal to still have a red ring around the bite

    ?

  • @kesubar I have never had a tick on me... but I have read that a red ring around a tick bite area can indicate lyme disease. On google I typed in "red ring lyme disease" and then clicked on the mayo clinic link. It says that : A red ring with a clear area in the center is one of the hallmarks of lyme disease. You should look into this. It is best to treat lyme disease as soon as possible.

  • @kesubar maybe the head is still attatched?

  • the 11 dislikes are the siblings of the ticks caught and flushed down the toilet !! LOL

  • What to do if the head get's teared off?

  • Bad things...

  • Post this on every tick video...

Kill the ticks it will get a blood from an animal and an human

They must wipe away the Planet Earth

Kill the ticks or we will die!!

Like this comment to keep at top and Like this comment if you wanna survive

    because of ticks

WE DO NOT NEED TICKS ONLY WE NEED IS A GOOD STUFF FROM ANIMALS AND HUMANS!!

    Kill those ticks!!!

Thank you for Posting this on every tick videoes

Post this on every ticks videos = Do not want ticks

  • has there ever been a situation ever in history where a tick attached itself to a human private part?

  • @TickEncounter

When you pull the tick out slowly, won't it feel this? And yes, when it does, will it not just vomit inside you?

  • @WhiskerLoL they weren't created, they evolved; sucking the blood of large animals is one available niche in the ecosystem and so some arachnids filled up and became ticks; they're just trying to do the best they can at living; we just need to find smart ways of coping with them

  • I just had a tick on my ear, in one of the curvy parts of it. And ripped it off, along with a big chunk of skin, it was still full and alive when i ripped it off. So I drowned it :D and I felt complete

  • lol, reminds me of one time when my dad ripped a tick off himself, the head was still attached, but he only ripped the body off! he said it felt as if it were still drinking his blood...I. HATE. TICKS.

  • @WhiskerLoL exactly

  • People, don't pull it off with ur fingers the ticks head may come off and stay there which can be hard to remove and can still be active

  • I had a lone star tick on me today. I was rubbing my leg and noticed there was something raised to I took him out. Don't think he was feeding, but I'm not sure. What do I have to do?

  • Okay I was at boy scouts yesterday and I didn`t have before. I went to summer school and just noticed it so It could`ve gotten there this morning. It`s on my leg, and I`m worried because a few minutes ago, when I got it out, there was some white stuff around the mark. Anybody know what it is?

  • one time i got home after camping and i found a tick so i just took my fingers and kept pulling and pulling until i finally got it and it hurt bad i had a huge red spot where the tick bit me. dang the sucker hurt.

  • WHY MUST TICKS BE HERE ON THIS EARTH :'(

  • @MegaTyop 'cause sucking the blood of large animals is a useful niche in the ecosystem; of course some animals fill it up;

  • A big thanks!!! I just happened to have a pointed pair of tweezers ..followed directions and whalla the nasty thing was outta there.

  • you got to admit bugs have the best penetration skill.

  • I hope I never get a tick ever in my life. EVER EVER EVER EVER

  • @yooncat yeah its not fun trust me

  • #1, STAY CALM, you will be sorely tempted to just pull it with force, DON'T.

with a tweezers, gently tickle it so it stands upright. it will release for a moment to reposition - in that brief moment, quickly pluck it off and dispose. if it does not pull off easily, it still has its mouth parts locked on, so you have to try again. you will be lucky to get away with it intact, sometimes with a little piece of skin in its mouth. otherwise, its often itchy and infection city. same with pets.

  • why cant you just rip the bastard off?

  • @mywood56 cuz they really stay hold on.trust me i had one once and i thought it was a spider or something so i tried flicking it off and it wouldnt work so i had 2 use tweezers.

  • i got a tick on my hips.. i took it out without thinking when i was in the shower -__-

though i did see the head when i took it out so is there a problem there?

  • @kigpit yes you have to take out the head

  • Cool ,i got this thing in my balls and dont have tweezers:(

  • just cut of the arm please D:

  • there tyring to take a drink for gods sake

  • Sure Im going to have tweesers out in nowhere. It is safe to just pluck it off with your finger?

  • Put some butter on it, and it will fall off. It also jumps off of your skin if you let it suck enough blood, 'til it's full! ;)

  • lol I used to get these all the time. We had a hay field so there were tons. I just pulled em off. Dont feel their bite or anything. They usually try to bite in a warm spot (like in ur hair)

  • Once the tick is removed, can you actually see it'shead? Can a tick continue moving without it's head? We just removed a tick from our son's head and the tick's legs are moving and it is walking in the jar we put it in, but I can't see the head. What if the head is still left behind after the body is removed? In your video, the head looks quite pointed and small, but in pictures on other sites, it looks bigger.

  • good for removing unwanted nose hairs too!

  • I remove them with my barehands..

  • try having that shit between ur toes or on ur nutsack ]":

  • Me and my friend go out in the wood (Note he lives in an area where ticks are abundant), so ever couple minutes we check our pants, backs, legs, and if we find any we remove them with a knife. NOTE we do not remove attached ones with a knife.

  • @tatetalk

Hi tatetalk, you should consider using tick-repellent clothing! Please check out our Prevention -> Protect Yourself section on TickEncounter. You can also check out the Tick Bite Locator for popular tick attachment spots.

  • @tatetalk What the hell is the point of removing unattached ticks with a knife? To look macho? Seriously, just brush them off. They're not going to attach to your hand in half a second. lol

  • I went quading today. First nice day all year. I come back and had a tick on my foot as did my friend. I kept my cool until my mom started freaking. But everything is now okay

  • will ticks lay eggs on somebody's head?

  • Well today i found a nice tick restin on my loins where I am panicing because it has been about 24 hrs and i cant find tweezers but the tick doesnt look like the lyme kind

  • @weyandt123 @iRunxKnife

Unfortunately, certain ticks will crawl up and attach to private areas. The Tick Bite Locator on TickEncounter will help you locate likely tick attachment spots. A pointy tweezer is always the best method, it's quick and the least likely method to tear the tick or injury yourself (for example, tearing the tick to spread tick blood into bite area or burning yourself with a match).
