These guitars, from what I hear ARE Mexican made. I have no problem with that, since I have a 60's Reverse Special that I LOVE! These guitars also have the same finish as the Highway 1's that I love so much!
I do, however have 2 issues:
1: paying $1000.00 for a Mexican Strat that is pre-beat to shit.
2: paying $1000 for a Strat that doesn't even have NOISELESS pickups! A MUST when playing the crapholes I do!
1.IMO the Fender Noisless Suck the tone out of the single coils, and a bunch of Fenders over 1,000 bucks dont have noiseless pickups: John Mayer, AVRIs, Eric Johnson, SRV,Custom shop strats, etc.
2. Have you checked the prices of CS relics?! They are 3,000+ for a beat up guitar. People have been buying these relics for years, and they sale, this is an attempt to offer relics to people at a lower price point.
3. Fender prices are going up. Check the site. Rumors are USA strats will be $1250 now
1: regarding the 'tone sucking" qualities of Fender Noiseless. Not true! Check out MY video of 'Casstles Made Of Sand' and tell me that isn't Stratty sounding as heck!!
2: true CS relics are 3k+, but they aren't of the somewhat lower quality that MEXICAN Strats are.
3: IMHO the concept of "RELICing" is a bit assinine. I RELIC my guitars the 'old fashioned ' way.................I PLAT THE SHIT OUT OF THEM!!!
I just think they suck tone IMO, you may not feel that way, but when I play them in person I just don't care for them. and I don't care how much more quality a CS is, to me its not made 2,000+ better.
I can see how you can see relicing as silly, but people like them, and fender would be dumb not to cater to that market. I also play the shit out of my guitars, but they'll never get more than a few nicks.
Lol this is pretty funny reading the comments because it seems none of you have any clue as to what the actual specs are lol... these guitars use a Nitrocellulose Lacquer Finish which means that if your not happy with fenders aging, then in a year it will be completely different due to "natural wear" and this is the first series that is reliced outside customshop.. I'm grateful that fender made reliced guitar available on a lower budget
you can see fender's point for doing this, its a new market and alot of "guitar queeros " want something thats as fake as them. I'd rather let my tele age naturally; on the other hand, I have played custom shop relics and they do feel really good in your hand.
I actually found it to be better to buy a MIM fender and some sand paper and "relic" it yourself...or hand the guitar to a child with adhd and they will do it for you
Thanks man. Its just fucking bullshit. I've heard El Cheapo guitars that have been modded with new pickups and hardware match up American Standards. Fender needs to cut the prices.
FENDER NEEDS TO CUT PRICES!!??if anyone needs to cut prices it's Gibson. Some Fenders are pricey yes.But compared to how outragous Gibson is with there prices.I'll take a Fender anyday.
Probably because most of us aren't touring musicians and could never have a new guitar look aged like this from just playing occasionally for fun. It looks cool and doesn't cost a small fortune. Works for me.
I never got the whole relic'ing thing. Isn't the journey that counts? It just reeks of the whole instant gratification society we live in. People who buy this junk should stick to guitar hero.
Agreed, but that nice feel comes from when you wear in a neck with your own fingers. It's the same with blue jeans. By the way, the neck on my tele feels like butter.
An advert basically extolling the virtue of 'real' musicians who tour and play with guitars that get dinged and worn as a result but actually selling guitars to people who just want to buy a pre-packaged rock and roll looking guitar because they can't be bothered to play and age an instrument themselves.
There is no case, all you get for thousand bucks is a frickin gig back--excuse me "deluxe" gig bag. Hell, it's already broke in anyway...who needs a case?
They should be hitting the streets for around a g note... Remember people that most of the other guitars that come from MEx get a polyurethaned finish.. Nitro RULES!! When your local music shop get them in go an try one out... i think you will be impressed!
These guitars should be pretty cool. I work in a music shop and sell guitars for a living. I own 2 cus/shop strats (a 56 closet classic and the new Gilmour relic). we just ordered some, and I have a suspicious feeling that they are going to be pretty sweet. Even though they are Mex. made, they still have a ton of quality to them. The bodies are going to be sprayed with Nitro, and I think they all have texmex p/u's in them. I have my eye on the blonde tele, which comes with an ash body.
what happened to fender 'performance'? this is for the look. i know they already looked amazing. this is takin it a bit far tho. i mean if it was for performance it would have better pickups'. thats the one thing that would stop me buying this guitar.
Well You act as if they are gonna stop making the other guitars. Fender offers like a billion models. There's something everybody. I personally own a John Mayer strat for perfomance and I want one of these to look cool, and possibly take to gigs where I don't have to worry about the finished getting dinged. Shit I'll probably be careless with it on purpose. Time to start saving
meh...im currently using a usa standard strat. wot i mean is that the scratches mean more if you do it yourself. get my drift? currently my guitar hasnt got a scratch. id destroy anyone who did anything to it. however things will b diff in 30 years
I dont think so. I had an 89 strat, and it was all beat to hell. Somebody else beat it up, I babied the damn thing when I got it. I don't know what it is, but the way I handle my gear, it'll never get more than a few dings. The only noticeable wear I see is on the neck, from me playing it all the time. I might not get one of these now, because I see a 1979 strat for sale around the same price. So if its still around by the time I get the cash saved, I'll get it instead
The theory of buying one so you don't have to worry about banging it up would be sound if they didn't cost twice as much a the standard MIM instruments.
Isn´t this line made in USA?? The similar ones I can think of are Highway One instruments. I own a Fender Telecaster Highway One and am so happy with it. American made.
tbh i think these cud b every bit as good. i wish these were usa guitars. i guess the usa equivalent is the cs ones which i cant afford! this will have to do. the only thing i dont like about this guitar is the pickups. wud like to try it before i buy.
however if you get a highway one, they beat up. and there ya go! slam it about a bit and u got a beat usa guitar!
im currently using a usa standard strat. prob better to play it for 30 years and there ya have it. all the lovin of a vintage strat!
guys, that looks awesome, i´ll buy one. i dont have to wait anymore till my guitar will have 20 years and a relic look, haha:D no..just kidding, i realy love them, great look, great pickups, acceptable price..made for me..:)
yeah they are american made guitars made with like minor relicing they are like the Nashvilles rather than the american standards so if you like the specs of the nash which is in short an american with less work and shittier specs then you should go for it but it is still easier getting the american or a mexican and relicing it
you know they have a player's series srv?? I saw it like 4 months ago and on occasion I spot them at guitar center when I buy strings. it is like the srv special but it is like $699. it is really good for the money but I think it is mexican or a nashville. or maybe it is just a sunburst with black pg strat I don't remember
