It wasn't roof. It was special special bow that provides electricity from the third power rail (the oragne one). On this particular station platforms are suited "outside" the rails, while on two neighbouring there is one platform between rails. Becouse of that power rails are placed on this station between main rails and in tunnel power rails are on the other side.

So when train comes to the station it changes power rail and when power bow leaves old power rail or comes close to new one, electricity forms sometimes electric arch wich makes this flash.

I hope my explanation isn't too much complicated :P

You're wrong - Warsaw Central/Warszawa Centralna is a main TRAIN station; this SUBWAY station is Centrum.

BTW - I'm from Warsaw too...
